DESCRIPTION |
The Tarisian-class Heavy Cruiser represents the first production line of Aether Systems and the return to the world of Shipwrights for Amelia von Sorenn. Following the similar designs and aesthetics of the older Victory I-class and Victory II-class Star Destroyers of the Imperial Era; the Tarisian-class retains the dagger-shaped profile that has become synonymous with Imperial vessels. Where it differs from its older cousins, is a design focused on the extension and expansion of its capability to carry additional craft which has resulted in an expanded hangar capacity. This new design saw the removal of additional cargo space in favor of expanded hangar bays, though this resulted in a trade-off in that the Tarisian-class cannot carry as many consumables as the older Victory II-class Star Destroyer on which its design is based. As a result of pursuing a route focused on hangar capacity along with increased firepower and defensive capabilities, the Tarisian-class is notably slower than most vessels as well as lacking in maneuverability that is often seen in similar vessels of its size or those that are focused in those aspects. This can often result in the Tarisian-class being incapable of pursuing enemy vessels or relying more heavily upon its Starfighter Compliments or Escort Vessels to run down smaller, faster vessels that are more maneuverable. Though the vessel is more than capable of trading blows in a sustained firefight, its additional hangar bays are noted to result in unintended weak spots within the vessel. This has the potential in resulting in a catastrophic event should the shields in those areas fail and expose the internal components and workings of the vessel to enemy fire. Due to sharing the dagger-shaped profile of the Victory II-class Star Destroyer, the command bridge of the Tarisian-class is exposed as noted in similar Imperial Vessels designed by the Empire. This design places the command bridge in a precariously vulnerable position and can result in the vessel being rendered inoperable in the event of sufficient damage to or the destruction of the command bridge. However, the Tarisian-class is equipped with a more advanced piece of technology than its forebearers, that being the HIMS (Hyperwave Interial Momentum Sustainer). This specialized system prevents the vessel from being torn from Hyperspace by shutting off the Hyperdrive and sustaining a bubble around the vessel, utilizing its momentum to carry it forward. Designed to explicitly overcome Interdictor Fields and their effects, and capable of overcoming most such fields; it otherwise cannot allow a vessel to jump into Hyperspace from an Interdictor Field, nor can it overcome the effects of gargantuan fields such as those created by the Centerpoint Station. Exchanging speed and maneuverability for firepower and capacity, the Tarisian-class represents a new corporate asset that is being deployed throughout the Galaxy to announce both the establishment of Aether Systems, as well as Amelia's return from parts unknown. Its focus on providing additional capacity to Starfighters and Support Craft Squadrons ensures that additional vessels are being designed for the purpose of providing escort capabilities and to further the Aether Systems Corporation into the field of Starshipwrighting. |
