The Tarkin Initiative is a secretive think tank within the Empire led by some of the galaxy's most brilliant minds, operating under a shroud of secrecy on projects enveloped in mystery and intrigue. The Initiative's work is primarily conducted in remote, heavily fortified facilities, well beyond the reach of prying eyes. Scientists and engineers are meticulously recruited from across the Empire, attracted by the promise of extensive resources and the opportunity to engage in pioneering projects. However, these privileges come with a significant condition: absolute loyalty to the Empire and a solemn vow of silence regarding their work.
Despite its covert operations, the Tarkin Initiative's influence is pervasive throughout the Imperial military. Its groundbreaking achievements have culminated in the development of some of the Empire's most formidable technologies. As the galaxy grapples with the might of the Empire, the Tarkin Initiative remains a vital, albeit enigmatic, pillar in sustaining the Emperor's hold on power.
While the Tarkin Initiative is a nationalized skunkworks division, it still owes its inception -and ultumately, directorship- to the Tarkins. Daedalus Tarkin inherited the helm of the Initiative upon his father's passing, just as the New Imperial Order found itself intertwined with the larger identity of the Dark Empire. While the new Emperor could have easily placed a director of his own choosing, or even taken control of the organization himself, it was ultimately decided that the smoothest transition would happen in the hands of a Tarkin.
