Tatooine
Galactic Empire Space

Shepa Market was a trading post on the very edges of the Yessa Sand Sea. A borderlands trading outpost right on the edge of nowhere and beyond. It is a tale of rags to riches too. For only a year ago the Magistrate's Palace had been a barren patch of earth. The Great Wall nothing more than a wooden post in the ground. No. Shepa Market was indeed very much, new money. A band of thieves used by the Galactic Empire to express it's special brand of "loyalty" and "control". For here is wasn't the Stormtrooper or the AT-ST patrol that made the good men of the galaxy nervous. It was the thuggish ruling band of thieves, The Twin Spears. Savage corsairs who claimed the market as their own. Well... As long as their Imperial Overlords need not pay them any mind, of course. Taxes and blood must flow to the Empire after all. Still. It was the dark men in red armor that patrolled here. This was Twin Spear territory. An don't you forget it.

Today was another busy day at the market. Salvagers and trinket sellers had turned out in droves. Food processor and water vaporator merchants too. The air was hot and the wind dry. Faces were covered with scarves and white sleeves. Protection from the sand and grit that got everywhere. In, everything. Oh yes. Today was another hot and sweltering day in the desert indeed. Another perfect day for shopping, sweating, sweltering, and; if you're really unlucky, dying gruesomely in a nearby ditch.

Luckily, [member="Reggie Faayare"] had just arrived with a caravan out from the desert. With plenty of things to sell and a whole new market stand to set up. He would be very busy today indeed.

When Reggie stepped foot in the market and immediately started setting up shop. He had different trinkets on sale for his customers today. As always, it was a hot and muggy, with almost no protection from the blazing heat and sand. This didn't bother Reggie too much though, for this is just a normal day on Tatooine.

Once he had set everything up at his market stand Reggie began to dust off his brown tunic and pants, removed the scarf around his mouth, dawned his radiant smile, and started making friendly conversations with passerby's so that they would look at his wares. This was a easy task for Reggie, for he was always friendly and sociable, which usually makes people more inclined to spend their credits at his shop. Of course, this wasn't always the case, especially since thugs usually walked around the market to cause some unnecessary problems. Reggie was more focused on the day ahead of him however, for he suspected that it would be a long one.

From across the market an opaque helm watched [member="Reggie Faayare"] . A helmet that belonged to a very womanly figure. Hidden underneath a long brown cloak. From inside this impenetrable helm, hidden in the shadows of the day, two eyes watched him unceasingly. Waiting. Wondering. Watching. To see if The Force saw him too.

"Interesting." The dark helmet mused.

Two red guards rounded the alley's corner and spied the cloaked figure. One of them called out to her to move. She was in their way. Naturally, the cloaked woman made a strange gesture with her hands. A gesture that so suddenly stunned the guards that they decided, well... That they were the ones in her way.

"Sorry sir. We'll just be on our way."

The two guards shrugged and turned about to leave. Completely unaware as to why they suddenly felt the urge to do so. Huh? Oh well. I guess the sun was playing tricks on them. They didn't want to talk to anybody today, anyway.

Master Matthews nodded to the retreating pair and turned again to look at the boy across the market.

"Well. Here goes nothing?"

She smiled and stepped out from the shade. Walking right through the market stands. A soldier's firm gait and an impenetrable black helm. A mysterious brown cloak and a voice without a face. This was what greeted him next. A stranger in a strange land. Her technology was clearly not salvaged. Her aura almost inhuman. Yet, familiar. Somehow?

And she was walking straight for [member="Reggie Faayare"] .

When Reggie saw [member="Jessica Matthews"] walking towards him, he thought she was coming to view what he had in stock. Reggie felt as though the person walking towards him wasn't from this land. The attire, the technology, and the odd atmosphere he felt as the person drew closer. With his curiosity awoken, Reggie was interested to find out who this stranger was, why they were here, and what they do.

His desire to learn more about whats outside this planet was a strong one indeed, but he did not allow it to get in the way of his work. Once [member="Jessica Matthews"] had reached his stand, he smiled and started to speak.

"Hello miss! how are you doing on this wonderful day? Is there anything I can help you with?"

Jess merely looked at the boy. Her helm a mocking gargoyle. Simply sizing him up. Taking in his physical features, his stand, his wares, and perhaps; something more. The Force had indeed confirmed to her that this young man possessed the talent. The spark of The Force slept inside him. Yet,.. Matthews turned to look around these strange market stalls and began to question. Could she really pull Reggie away from his life on Tatooine? Was he even qualified? Would he even want to go? All these and more. So many questions. This boy was simply too many questions.

She realized now that too much time had past in silence. Her looming stature was starting to get awkward. So she finally spoke,

"Tell me. [member="Reggie Faayare"] of Tatooine."

He had not given her his name. Yet, she knew it already.

"What is your purpose here? Why do you linger?"

Reggie was taken aback when she said his name. He doesn't remember meeting this person before, so how did they know him? He had many more questions to ask.

"Why do I linger? Well that' an easy question! I don't have a ship to fly out of here, so i'm grounded on Tatooine for the meantime. When the opportunity arises though, i'll start my journey to visit other planets! As for my purpose here though, I guess you can say I don't really have one on Tatooine, or that I haven't found my purpose yet. I just go through my days working and helping anyone that needs assistance."

He started to laugh, thinking about all the times that he bothered his parents about his wish to explore the galaxy. Even though he brought it up all the time.

Interesting. His basic was excellent. Perhaps this young lad was more than just another backwater washout. He might have a future among the galaxies elite after all?

Jess slowly removed her helm.

"I am Jessica. Of Voss. A pleasure to finally meet you Reggie."

Underneath her disguise was the face of a very beautiful woman. Not a woman of the desert either. For there was not a single sign of harsh living or desert welfare to be found amongst her features. This woman was clearly very, very foreign.

"Tell me Reggie. You are about the age of a man yes? Then, why have you not run off to join the Imperial Pilot's Academy in Ronto City?"

She pulled her brown hood down to further reveal her face.

"You do know that the Empire allows recruitment at the age of eighteen yes? Surely a young man such as yourself would fancy a life among the Empire's finest soldiers."

[member="Reggie Faayare"]

"It's nice to meet you Jessica."

Reggie had never seen such a beautiful woman before, which made him wonder where she came from. He was going to ask her that one way or another though, so it didn't change his thought process much. who, what, where, and why is what he was thinking about, his nosy personality getting ahead of him.

"Yes! I am 18 years old. To answer your question though, I don't really trust the Empire. Their history makes me iffy about them, and they don't seem to care about the people they rule over. Being a imperial soldier is definitly not ideal for me."

Jessica smiled. He was wise too. Wise enough to distrust the Imperial propaganda that saturated this small world. Reggie had a bright future indeed.

"Ah. Then tell me [member="Reggie Faayare"] of Tatooine. What does the future hold for you on this small planet you call home? Where do you see yourself in ten years hmm?"

She needed to be sure. Matthews had to know that recruiting Reggie was something that would be positive for him, his family, and this small community. Jedi do not accept outsiders easily. She was taking a chance here on a small town desert boy. He needed to be strong. He needed to be brave. For the galaxy above him was vast and dangerous indeed. Out there was wonder and adventure yes. But there was also monsters. Monsters that hunger to eat Jedi too. Sith Lords and Ren Commanders. Dark Jedi and sensual Slave Princesses. Not to mention the otherworldly threats from beyond the Outer Rim.

Jessica had to be sure that Reggie had the willpower and the spark, to do the impossible.

Where do I see myself in ten years? Heh, that's easy! By then, i'll definitely be off this planet. I'm determined to seek out the answers I have about Jedi. i have always found them amazing since I was a child, so I have to learn more about them! More importantly though, I will be out there helping the people around the galaxy. I've always had a desire to help people, no matter the cost to myself. The galaxy is full of people with problems, meaning that they need someone to help them. I want to be that person, I want to be the one to save people from despair and help others out of it."

Reggie realized he was rambling and felt a bit embarrassed.

"Sorry! I didn't mean to talk your ears off, its just that this is something i'm passionate about. I know i'll achieve my goals!"

Reggie's eyes were filled with determination and hope.

So let it be written. So let it be done.

Jessica nodded and gave a soft smile. Not a smile for [member="Reggie Faayare"] however. Oh no. Jessica was smiling to the Force.

"Oh really? A Jedi scholar in the making eh. Well well. Then perhaps I have come to the right market vendor after all. Hehe."

Now she smiled for Reggie. And held help up a singer finger to the sky.

"It just so happens that I know of an Order. A Jedi Order. One that calls the forested world of Kashyyyk home. A bright, green world far, far from the Empire's icy grip. Indeed. A place that would wild. A place that would be perfect. Perfect. Just for a Jedi scholar."

She wiggled her nose with pride.

"Might I fancy that you'd like a ticket to this one-way show? Hehe. Because I promise you this. It's a ticket of a lifetime."

Jessica smiled and gave a soft laugh,

"Okay then."

Then she tapped her nose and winked.

"But are you sure I'm not some desert swindler? Some, evil pilot come to scoop you away? Hehe."

She jested in good spirit. For with humor comes laughter and from laughter comes heart. Yes. I think she and Reggie would be able to get along just fine.

"Well. My ship leaves at dawn tomorrow from Miller's Field. Just a stretch to the south. Can you make it, young scholar? I trust you'll pack your bags. Hehe."

[member="Reggie Faayare"]

Reggie laughed at her words, enjoying the humor.

"Well if that were the case, then you have me right where you want me."

Reggie thought about what he would take with him and realized that a simple man such as himself doesn't have many possessions, so it wouldn't take long getting ready.

"I'll be there. I look for to talking with you again [member="Jessica Matthews"]."

Millers Field
Dawning

She was a large transport vessel flying Imperial colors. Piloted by a dashing smuggler and crewed by a group of lay villains. Scoundrels and vagabonds, all. Yet. Perhaps with a Jedi Master onboard and an adventure underway? Well. They couldn't be all bad, right?

"Haha! So this is the New Boy eh?"

Chuckled the vessel's Santa Claus Captain. A jolly old fellow with bright big beard and silly red pants.

"Yes indeed Captain. This, is [member="Reggie Faayare"] ."

Jessica turned to gesture outwards towards the sandy fellow. Just arriving.

"Reggie." She called, "Meet, Captain Marcus Fallon. Our Captain and guide throughout Imperial Space."

"Haha. Nice to meet ya lad. Here now." He held out a giant hand, "Put er' there!"

Causing Jessica to smile with delight.

"Well then. I trust you're all packed and ready Scholar Raayare?" She mused, "Did you say your goodbyes?"

Reggie clasped his hand over the captains's and realized that his grip wasn't nearly as strong as the giant's.

"Nice to meet you Captain! It's a pleasure to be flying with you."

Reggie had a small bag he was carrying that contained his credits and some clothes. He didn't have much to bring with him, so he didn't have much.

"Yes, I am all packed, said my goodbyes, and ready to go Jessica! Erm, by the way, do you have any titles I should be calling you by? I don't want you to think i'm being rude."

Captain Fallon jumped right in,

"Why this here is Master..."

"Master Matthews. Of Voss." Jessica cut him off. Turning again to [member="Reggie Faayare"] , "But you, good Reggie. May simply call me Jessica. Hehe."

Tsk tsk. The time for the boy to know her true nature was not upon them yet. Oh no. Only when they had escaped Imperial space could her Jedi secret be revealed. Lest they should be captured enroute to the Inner Core and Reggie suddenly realize that he knew too much. For the Empire was no friend of the Jedi. And even friends of the Jedi received no quarter.

"But enough about me. Let's get you settled eh? Climb aboard young traveler. The long ride to the Core Worlds awaits."

"And money!" Fallon smiled and jumped right in, "Haha. Can't wait to be home."

The jolly Captain turned to board. The long loading ramp hissing it's smoky welcome. Jessica gave a flick of her wrist.

Time to climb aboard.

Yet again, Reggie's curiosity was peaked. Jessica cut off the Captain for a reason, right? He shook it off though. Many things have gotten Reggie in trouble, especially his curiosity. Then again, his curiosity isn't what lost him a eye.

"Alright, Jessica it is!"

Reggie hopped on board the ship, excited to get going.
