Description:
The TAV enforcer is a multipurpose assault vehicle capable of a number of tasks such as the transportation of a full republic platoon, or performing full-scale attacks upon enemy installations. The vehicle however performs best in support of infantry companies. The TAV Enforcer is deployed, where possible, in large numbers to attempt to make up for it’s short comings by providing sheer volume of fire.
A compartment at the rear of the vehicle is reserved for troop transport and a number of computer consoles, including holographic communication systems. Certain vehicles have been outfitted as mobile command posts with a number of communications and displays consoles. These command variants were mobile offices and control centers. At the top of the vehicle there is a hatch allowing troopers to survey the battlefield. In addition there are large doors toward the rear of the craft which allow for troopers to embark and disembark the vehicle.
Instead of cumbersome legs the craft uses four independent treads capable of adjusting their position. This allows for a greater deal of mobility, and ability to manage rougher terrain, compared to other tread or wheeled vehicles. Also in open ground it allowed the craft to reach speeds of up to 200 kph, far in excess of that of traditional walkers. In addition to it’s fast speed it is able to dial down its speed to a more ponderous pace allowing it to pass through energy shields, a feat which most repulsorlift craft are incapable of doing. Some TAV assault vehicles are equipped with grappling lines allowing them to scale vertical surfaces, and they are sealed for survival in space.
Seven highly trained crew make up the vehicles operations. The pilot drives the craft while a spotter utilizes sensors and visual devices to locate hostiles and relay the information to four gunners controlling the vehicles main armaments at console stations within the craft. A final crew member operates the main weapon at a well underneath the main gun. A full republic platoon could be mounted within the TAV’s main compartment.
The Main weapon of the TAV is the mass-driver cannon, which may be loaded with a number of munitions including heavy energy weapons, and solid shells. The payload of the gun varies depending on mission and may range from burrowing bunker busters to guided missiles or sonic charges. Six additional laser cannons are located around the craft, four placed in a forward arch, and two at the rear of the craft to cover disembarking infantry.
Although faster than a walker, the vehicle is ponderous to turn and has only the main gun capable of covering its flanks. This leaves the side of the tank open to assault. In addition, while heavily armored the vehicle is easily destroyed when faced with heavy vehicle mounted weapons suffering along with most heavy armor pieces. In addition the TAV itself has little in the way of air defense making the use of fighter cover, or other dedicated anti aircraft vehicles, crucial to the TAV's deployment.
