SPECIAL FEATURES
Strengths:
- Holocam recordings can be viewed live or stored on a synched device, the holonet, or the droid itself.
- A built-in cascader projector allows the tayir to disguise itself, albeit in a very limited manner.
- The droid has basic shielding, but no armaments. Though it can defend itself by pecking and clawing, it is not programmed to fight and is largely passive except in dire circumstances.
- Best suited to temperate environments, extreme cold or heat will cause the droid to malfunction.
- May look out of place in an environment where there aren’t supposed to be birdies.
- Vulnerable to EMP/Ion attacks.
The tayir droid was designed for basic information gathering with an urban environment in mind. Clearly modeled after your garden variety bird, extra time has been taken to texture the outer casing of the tayir to somewhat resemble that of a bird’s feathers. Lightweight and agile, this droid has been programmed to idly display typical bird mannerisms—pecking at the ground, preening and so forth.
Equipped with a high quality holo-cam, an array of sensors, and electrobinoculars, the tayir can record 360o of visual and audio. The recording can be stored on board, on the holonet or on any device synced to the droid. Live viewing of the droid’s feed can also be monitored through any paired device. The droid can be programmed to watch a specific target or group of targets, or can simply be placed in one area for continued surveillance. The tayir comes equipped with a holo-cascader, allowing it to subtly change appearance (color, basic features) so as to not arouse suspicion when following a target. This also allows the droid to be modified to appear as a regionally or planetary appropriate species of bird.
While often inconspicuous to the naked eye, this droid could easily be detected by certain scanners or Force-trained individuals. Extremely cold and hot surroundings will have a significant impact on the quality of video feed and the droid’s ability to maneuver, and EMP/Ion attacks will cause them to shut down immediately.
