- The Plirizil is a bioengineered organic heart implant designed to be slightly smaller than the average human heart, designed specifically for two purposes. The very first of these is to enhance performance through the supplying of greater nutrients and oxygen to the body's muscles. by increasing blood flow far beyond what even the most fit human is capable of. In addition a secondary function and arguably the more important is if the original heart suffers damage or enough to cause failure, the secondary heart can take over and pump enough blood to ensure the individuals survival.
- Superior Performance: Due to the greater amount of oxygen and nutrients the heart supplies it enhances the individual's performance far beyond what even the most fit human would be capable of, regardless of adapted traits.
- Life Saver: In battle the Plirizil gives the soldier a safety net should they suffer catastrophic damage that causes their primary heart to fail, they can still survive and keep fighting.
- Secondary: Despite its function this heart is not designed to be the primary functioning heart. While it can maintain the soldier long enough during battle to finish the engagement and seek treatment, any longer is hazardous for the soldiers health.
After the great successes of the Blackblade Guards intense training and conditioning regimen, as evidenced in it's stellar service records against both Jedi and Mandalorians, their overlords in House Zambrano felt they needed something more to separate them from others, to make them superior entirely. While cybernetics were heavily used by the Blackblade Guard in the past, it was felt that a complete reliance on artifical mechanics created a weakness too large to ignore. It was from these efforts that the organ implant named the "Plirizil" or Preserver in epicant was born. Through a hard examination into the field of cybernetics specifically the cardio-muscular system, as well as extensive research into organ growth and vong biots a superior product was created. It is by appearance similar to a human heart albeit smaller in size and its placed next to the heart and connected to all of the individuals pulmonary and circulatory systems.
Once the heart is introduced it pumped oxygen and nutrients through the body at a dramatically increased rate. This increased the individuals performance beyond what a human is capable of, even the most physically fit mandalorian, echani, and thyrsian subjects. This was not the only purpose for the additional heart however. One of the principal functions of the Blackblade Guard was to fight in any environment, against the most dangerous threats the galaxy can pit against them. To achieve this was to accept the great risk of bodily harm to the soldiers, the Plirizil helps to combat this threat by ensuring a Blackblade can survive even the most catastrophic damage and continue fighting. Despite its capabilities it was discovered during the final testing phases that the preserver is no replacement for the primary heart. The preserver can sustain a soldier long enough to finish the engagement, but it is no permanent replacement.
