- Links: TCD-1D
- Age: 1 year old
- Model: Tactical Combat Droid - 1st model Variant Delta
- Appearance: It looks like a standard model of the Tactical Combat Droid series, it stands at 6'5" weighs in at 400ish pounds and has a very humanoid appearance. It's main photoreceptors are blue colored, and while it can't make faces with this it is more than able to replicate other human mannerisms.
- Name: Echo Batch Line 3 Unit November / "John"
- Loyalties: The Dire Wolves Paramilitary Organization, specifically Sergei "Jack" Jachovich
- Notable Equipment: Utilizes mostly whatever weapons/gear he can get his hands on, being a TCD-1D model he doesn't have many onboard gizmos but can perform manual slices with standard organic kits.
- Skills: This droid is a walking data link to the ship, and can fly a bit both in and out of combat. He mostly just serves as a trusted friend to Sergei though, having somehow managed to survive alongside him. He can do many functions outside of combat but will have to download programming to perform said functions, along with having to acquire any necessary equipment to perform said tasks as he has no internal equipment of his own.
- Personality: "John" originally came with the original personality matrix for The Dire Wolves when he was assigned to Sergei. This though has changed as he's worked side by side with Sergei as he's grown fond of organics, and learned to like people beyond Sergei. He's a quiet listener, and more than willing to actually just sit with someone and talk to them. John due to his longevity has actually learned to mimic a lot of the better tendencies of Sergei, including his kindness and willingness to go out of his way to help someone. This has helped keep Sergei on the up and up as John will continuously provide moral and physical support to what he considers a great cause, someone trying to help someone else. He also has a sense of humor that he's developed, being more than self aware now due to his long time in service. The sense of humor can be either very light or dark depending on circumstances, but he's never going to laugh get someone else to at another's expense. At least he'll try not to unless it really was that funny.
- Weapon of Choice: John is programmed to utilize a variety of standard infantry weapons, however he prefers utilizing the HARM or M-416. That being said he can utilize one of the company's sniper/anti-material rifles to great effect and is a deadly shot both up close and at range.
- Combat Function: John fills in the combat infantry role when the shooting starts. He sticks close to Sergei and works off of him to ensure they both reach maximum combat effectiveness. And if necessary, John will gladly step in front of or forcibly throw Sergei out of the way of, enemy threats that could do him grave harm. Because that is his function, to protect Sergei in combat at all costs.
- Excellent all around combat droid: The TCD-1D is in and of itself a marvel of The Dire Wolves' engineering. This combat unit though heavy is extremely effective at engaging and defeating targets in a variety of scenarios and has the adaptability to be utilized in any situation. That being said, John is no exception to this, because not only has he fought side by side with Sergei for a little over six months, he's learned from Sergei's attack patterns and tactics to mimic them almost perfectly. This makes him an excellent complement to him in a fire fight.
- Well rounded helping hand: When outside of combat, John takes up the role of being someone Sergei can trust without fail. He's a friend, a confidant, and most of all someone he can count on to tell him whether or not his appraisal of the situation is wrong. John is a walking datalink to whatever ship Sergei happens to be riding in and this allows him to keep tabs on a lot of information at once.
- Some not droid like limitations: So while John is a droid and is well designed enough that he can utilize most if not all equipment handed to him, he actually doesn't have any tools built into his frame. The only thing he has is two concealed like blaster pistols in his forearms which are great if he needs a small little extra bit of fire power, but it's laughable when you look at the rest of him. He's already 400ish pounds of absolutely terrifying droid with strength to match and speed that's quite deceptively fast. Who needs blasters when he can literally rip the chair that was bolted into the floor out of said floor and chuck it at you like its a paper weight? This means that to do the really cool droid stuff he needs actual organic equipment that he has to attach to his kit to access just like any other organic out there.
- He can't get mind wiped: So a pretty standard thing for most droids is that when their time comes up for maintenance they usually receive mind wipes. This helps keep their memory and processing cores from getting clogged up with too much extra data. And a major problem with this for John is that his method of operating requires a much longer, more labor intensive process be used to keep him up to date on maintenance. And this process is something you need a bit of equipment for because if you wipe his memory, he'll lose all of the combat data that makes him so effective. This can also make him a little bit more prone to disruptions and less logical when it comes to Sergei.
- Separation Anxiety: So as previously mentioned before, John can't be mind wiped, meaning that his logic algorithms that fuel both his heuristic processors and tactical algorithms are much more unstable than your standard droids. This while is great for the droids being more creative and tactically varied while working with its partnered operator, it is a massive detriment if the droid gets separated from its partner, especially if this is due to hostile actions. This will cause John to go berserk if he gets separated from Sergei as his logic and combat algorithms will essentially go into overdrive to try and rectify that problem. Because his stability is directly tied to Sergei's well being, and if that well being is unknown or severely threatened, John's logical thinking will go out the window. This can even cause his central processing core to shut down if it goes on for too long as this will cause his processors to overclock themselves to the extreme.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
TCD-1D E3N's story begins at the start of the TCD-1 program. Designed from construction as a standard tactical combat droid, Echo batch 3rd Line Unit November had a pretty typical origins for units of the line. He was immediately assigned a squad in The Dire Wolves Mercenary Company, and he would bond with his fellow soldiers like any other unit. He learned what they liked, their aspirations, their fears, and most importantly how they fought. His team would utilize their new droid as an effective hammer to help force breaches and assault through heavily defended enemy positions, using their armor and weapons to first suppress and then overwhelm the enemy. This however would change when Unit November's squad was caught in a major ambush, and he got separated from them. The droid would go into a frenzy, doing everything he could to fight through the enemy to rejoin them, and fulfill his primary directive of protecting them. When he got to them though, it was too late. Most were dead, a few of them dying, and one of them was alive but in critical condition. The only other person that arrived to the scene was Sergei, who had arrived on scene just as the droid had. Unit November was desperately trying to save the remaining member of his squad when Sergei pulled him off of the trooper. He broke through the droid's initial response and now illogical thought process to get him to pull the trooper to a safer location. And then Sergei had him pull guard while he did his best to stabilize the man and called for a med-evac. As they got the soldier evacuated, the droid was preparing to leave with him when Sergei pulled the unit aside and requested that he follow him instead. His reasoning being that soldier was safe, and now Sergei needed him more. Unit November would see the logic in his request and would comply, following Sergei through the battle allowing both to finish the mission. It was here that Unit November would actually be saved by Sergei, him literally grabbing the droid and tossing him into an alleyway to get him out of the line of fire from an E-Web. This confused November as he had thought to step in front of Sergei to give him a chance to either run or disable the gun, but instead Sergei had saved him. Sergei explained that it didn't matter to him what November thought, as long as one was a soldier under his command, they were his responsibility. And that meant saving as many of them as possible. The two would execute a flanking maneuver of the E-Web's position and destroy it with grenades and would soon finish out the battle. The trooper that Sergei and November had saved would survive, however his injuries would leave him crippled for life earning him an honorable discharge from TDW's service.
His squad gone, and now preparing for reassignment to another squad, November was preparing for his mind wipe and transfer when Sergei found him again. Sergei would ask the droid very pointedly whether he wanted to follow through with the transfer protocols, or if he instead wanted a new permanent position. November was curious as he didn't understand what Sergei was saying. Sergei then explained to November that all four of his previous units had been destroyed in combat, and that he was the first to actually survive a mission with him. And while Sergei wasn't superstitious, he'd be a fool to ignore such a fact. November would pause briefly before agreeing to become Sergei's personal TCD, finally introducing himself to Sergei. Needing a nickname, Sergei quickly just picked one for him, calling him "John". John would serve at Sergei's side for the better part of the six months, following the Dire Wolf into battle at the head of every operation. Every chance he got he would prove his worth, staying right behind Sergei to assist with combat operations and covering Sergei's six. The two would become inseparable, and over time John would learn to not only follow his programming to just follow Sergei, but would also come to like him as a friend. Outside of missions, the two would talk and converse like old friends, and John would help cover for most of Sergei's lack of knowledge on many topics on the greater galaxy. The two would spar constantly, and when the time came for an upgrade, John would be one of the first sent in for the 1D variant program, increasing his weight, strength, speed, and combat effectiveness. And then Ryloth would happen. John alongside Sergei survived once again, but due to the charges leveled against Sergei, John was forced to follow the rest of TDW as they were forced to essentially dissolve the company. Thankfully Dr. Alphonse with his assets in Freebirds Industries would pick up most of the survivors of Ryloth and keep John up to date. When Sergei was released, Dr. Alphonse selected John to reveal to Sergei the new ship he'd been secretly constructing within Freebirds Industries. And now once again the two were reunited, and with John standing at Sergei's side, it was time for TDW to return. Larger, more complete and better than ever.
The only question for John now is, where will his and Sergei's adventures lead them to next?
