- Do No Harm: The standard and by far the most common variant of the Verity, the TDM-7-A is designed to prevent the Droid from taking any and all violent actions against organics, functioning in addition to any safeguards built into the droid brain in question.
- Do Some Harm: Less common, the TDM-7-B is designed to force the droid to desist from harming - or only harm - individuals meeting certain criteria.
- (Rebel Begone): Should it be unable to prevent a droid from going bad, the Verity can be outfitted with a trace amount of baradium - more than sufficient to destroy a droid while avoiding collateral damage if the chip is implanted directly into a droid's central processor.
- Imperfect: While officially better than nothing, a skilled slicer or someone with the tools required to pry open a droid brain can still circumvent/remove the chip.
- ("Oops, my bad!"): While it shouldn't happen, the Verity is designed to terminate a droid rather than risk damage to organics - it is thus possible for such chips to malfunction, "killing" a fully functional droid, though only rarely.
Soon after the "unfortunate incident" that was the Clockwork Rebellion, TriTech invested heavily in a next generation of security countermeasures, eventually developing the Verity - while certainly not perfect, it provides an additional layer of security at a very affordable price, making it a standard feature in virtually all civilian TriTech models.
Typically slotted directly into a droid brain, the Verity is harder to remove than a mere restraining bolt, and its minuscule size should keep manufacturers from having to sacrifice processing power to make it fit. This design does, however, mean that the droid brain in question must be sufficiently roomy or built/specially modified to house the chip - at least if one wants the added safety of the baradium-based automated self-termination protocol. Alternatively, one could strap it to another unarmoured vital system and hope for the best...
... but the warranty does not cover such foolishness.
