- Tibanna production: Takka class platforms are built for processing and storing large volumes of Tibanna. Multiple boom arms that extend from the platform allow for multiple tanker ships to load at once.
- Hazardous target: These Tibanna platforms can make hazardous targets for pirates and raiders. Enough Tibanna is stored on these platforms to cause significant damage.
From hyperdrives to the coolest in repulsorlifts, Tibanna is one of the most useful gasses in the galaxy. Making it a very sought after resource. Tekka class platforms were built with the purpose of mining this resource. A large circular platform with a hole in the center designed for drawing gas upwards. Most of the processing takes place in the lower levels of the platform, while crew living quarters and amenities occupy the upper half. Large storage tanks reside on the bottom of the platform, protected by thick plating and shields. In an emergency, gas can be vented outward, or tanks can be deatatched. Hangars circle the midsection of the platform, while docking platforms for large vessels and tankers project further out from the sides.
