STRENGTHS

• Rapid Fire and Good Tracking: Capable of providing a constant, accurate rapid fire stream of kinetic slugs with the ability to hit rapidly moving and comparatively small targets due to its ability to quickly swivel on its base and good fire control and sensors.
  

WEAKNESSES

• Weak to Deflector Shields:Like all kinetic projectiles it is comparatively weak to deflector shielding, and thus relies either on a comparatively long amount of time to wear through such shields, or back up energy weapon systems to help combat them.
  

DESCRIPTION

Designed as the third part of the Clipeus defense system, the Tempestas Space Close In Weapons System (SCIWS) just has one job: provide an extra layer of defense against enemy missiles and starfighters by pelting them with a constant stream of kinetic slugs with relatively good accuracy and tracking thanks to its advanced sensor and fire control system that allows it to track and engage the majority of non-stealth targets and those who have been revealed by other more advanced means. It is noted as being competent, but not particularly exceptional, by those who have reverse engineered the system. Can be used in space and in atmosphere, but is more effective in the former due to a lack of air resistance.

OOC: It's basically an open market "plug and play" space CIWS system, relatively simple to understand best used in conjunction with other layers of point defense. Short and simple submission to be used as a building block for ships and for newbie fleeters.
