Tempting, the dark side, isn't it?

1313-1.jpg

Niyla Ar'i found herself spending time in the Garri Jazz cantina, the young dancer was on stage performing for a small group. It was nothing special, just something to get her over in the pastime. As the girl moved her feet across the cold floor she spun and kicked one leg up, grabbing it and looking into the audience. It was at this moment she noticed a dark figure, his aura was evil. Like that of the inquisitor she encountered before she left Zeltros, but much stronger.

When she was finished she curtsied to the audience and showcased the band behind her. "Thank you all so much!" She said expressing a blush and stepping off the small stage. Niy was taking a short break before her last routine of the night. She walked to her booth and sat down.

That man... She thought, chills running down her pink skin.

He always found himself in bars? Why bars? Maybe the charisma. Or the atmosphere it left; leaving a man with a bad taste in the mouth. Which Onyx enjoyed. The bad taste of booze and broken things. But he enjoyed it. It made him feel more alive, for some odd reason only he could ever truly understand.

Regardless of why, he was there drinking Kuaty Beer and enjoying the joint. He hadn't traveled here before, so it was nice to be somewhere relatively new compared to the places he had visited hundreds of times. The dancers were pretty though one caught his eye. A young girl, Zeltron, had a small glowing light inside her. Metaphorically of course, Onyx knew she was a force-user. He could sense her from a mile away. He rubbed his hands over his chin, over some of the metal that made it up. He knew people stared at him, he could feel their eyes examining the wires and metal that blotted his face. It came to no surprise the two made a split seconds worth of eye contact.

Onyx finished his beer at the girl made her way over to the booth, her dance being over. Slowly he stood up and casually made his way over to her. Standing he motioned his hand to the empty seat in front of her, "Taken?" He found it interesting to be out and about, after so long of being hidden away within himself. Whether this girl was light or dark, Onyx planned on making some sort of contact out of her.

"Taken?" Niy said in a whisper, shocked he actually approached her. She wouldn't lie, she was fearful of him. Perhaps because of his robotic face, really though, it was of his connection to the force. She quickly realized he was just standing there awkwardly as she examined him.

"No." She said expressing a nervous smile and tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "It's not taken. Please sit!" The young force sensitive motioned for him to sit. "I hope you enjoyed the performance?" She said attempting to create conversation with him. Who is this guy. She thought as he sat there staring at her.

Onyx sat down with a calm smile and raised his hand to the bartender, signaling another drink was needed. He turned his face to her and smiled politely. "Names Onyx," he greeted. As the bartender placed the tall glass on the table Onyx eyed the young girl. "Jedi?" he asked straightly as he chugged a large gulp of the drink in front of him. Gently he placed the drink back down and shrugged. "I'm not one to judge, I am just curious."

While she was looking to become trained in the force, she was no Jedi, or Sith. Not yet at least. However Niyla was surprised when he asked her.

She as well had the bartender bring her own drink. As she brought the drink to NIyla she smiled and said. "Thank you Sai." Taking a sip from it and signaling for her to leave."It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Onyx. You can call me Niyla." Niy smiled and tipped her glass to him. "And...No. I am not a jedi, why do you ask?" Niyla blushed, of embarrassment mostly. Obviously she knew why he asked.

Onyx smiled as he took a drink, now knowing the young girls name. He leaned back and extended his arm to rest on the bench behind him. He let his legs stretch out and relax too, some of the bones and cybernetic parts within him cracking as he did so. He took another drink and looked around the bar, examining for anyone peculiar but found none. He returned his gaze to the young girl. "I used to be a Jedi is all," he explained, "I was a Knight for some time before I left the Order."

It felt weird explaining his Jedi past to someone. So few people knew he was once a member of the order. He was, after all, apart of the Sith Empire before he joined to try and redeem himself of the darkness he held within him. That, of course, didn't work out and he ended up returning to the crumbling Empire, staying loyal to it until it collapsed. Onyx rubbed the base of his forehead at the thought of it all. He loosened back up and took another drink. "I was just curious, I can sense you are a force-user," he said as he placed the nearly empty glass back on the table.

When he mentioned jedi Niylas eyes lit up.

She pushed her hair behind her back and took a sip from the Aldaranni wine, trying to seem cool and collected. "Jedi you say?" She asked, almost choking on her wine. Perhaps speaking too loudly as a few characters in the bar looked at her. "I mean, would you know any Jedi?" This time she lowered her voice to almost a whisper.

Ever since she learned she was force sensitive she has been searching for a Jedi to train her. However she reminded herself to be careful around him, he seemed nice and all, and she had no clue if he even was a sith, but the last sith she encountered wasn't exactly 'nice'.

Onyx chuckled a little. He eyed a few of the patrons who shot their eyes at them at the mention of Jedi. He didn't really break contact with a few of them for a few seconds, letting them know he wasn't in the mood for a fight. As they turned their eyes away Onyx also returned his gaze to Niyla. "Know Jedi?" he asked. "Yes. Friends with any Jedi?" Onyx chuckled again and shook his head as his laughter died. "No." He drank what was left of his drink and put the glass aside, leaning in a bit to talk in a hushed tone.

"Why join the Jedi," he started, "When you can achieve any power you want within the Dark Side?" He knew what he was doing, manipulating. It was his greatest talent; instilling fear and using it against those around him. This girl was young, perhaps still looking for a master. She was the perfect person to convert to the dark order of the One Sith. However Onyx wasn't going to pressure her, yet. He wanted more information before he did that.

Niyla could sense his power over shadowing hers. What was this dark side he spoke of? All she knew was the Jedi kept peace in the galaxy and if she had the power to become one she would try, but the dark side? She was so blind to it all and she hated it. Almost innocently she raised her eyes to meet his. For a moment there was silence, nothing but the murmur of voices and light jazz playing in the background.

"What is the Dark Side? And why did you leave the Jedi?" She asked, a sense of fear echoing in her voice.

Before he had time to answer her question the waitress interrupted them. "Can I get you anything?" She asked, looking at Niyla and then Onyx.

Onyx didn't break his contact with her. He held it, his eyes piercing through the physical and into her spirit. "I'm good," he said to the waitress, still keeping his eyes fixed on Niyla. He waited a moment before the waitress turned to her, seeing if she wanted anything. "She'll take another drink," Onyx answered for her. The waitress gave a nod and reached down to take her glass before turning to leave.

Onyx raised up one of his hands and shot electricity between his finger tips, a wide smirk on his face as he did it. "The Dark Side is everything the Jedi fear," he explained. "The Sith," he said as his hand fell back onto the table, "We are the instruments of the Dark Side."

She was speechless for a moment. He intimidated her, and she did not like it. As the waitress gave her another drink she wavered it off. "No, I am fine. Thank you though." She said and looked at her, breaking eye contact with Onyx. When she left Niyla looked at him again, trying not to make direct eye contact. "Is fear supposed to be a good thing?" She paused for a moment and met his eyes once again. "If I was to follow the darkside, would my fear go away...?" She asked nervously and ran her fingers through her scarlet hair.

"We take fear and we make it our weapon."

Onyx leaned back again and let his body relax. He could feel the stress of the force on his bones and synthetics. He raised his hand and ran it through his slicked back grey hair. He let out a sigh and rested his arm on the bench again. He thought about what he said, about using fear. It was true, he, like many other Sith, did use fear to their advantage. Though Onyx saw fear as something more, like a philosophy or way of life. Something Onyx always used was fear. He shrugged his shoulder and looked back at the young girl. "The Dark Side is a path to some abilities the Jedi might see as unnatural."

Niyla has been running from fear her whole life, but she didn't want to weaponize it. She wanted to get rid of it. As he spoke of these abilities she had to ask, of course she knew this was a stupid question but she has been avoiding it her whole life. "What is the force?" Her voice quivered a bit. She hated feeling so weak. While she was waiting for him to respond she anxiously ran her finger around the rim of the empty glass, watching as condensation occurred. Thinking about it she wondered if she was sweating herself.

Onyx slowly started realizing just how new to this world was. She only knew the basics, who the Jedi were. She didn't know the force or the powers it held. She didn't know the battle between the Light and Dark, Jedi and Sith. She didn't realize she was talking to a Sith Lord, someone of respect and great power within the One Sith. He couldn't manipulate someone this new into believing the Dark Side was the right path. Rather, he could but why bother? It wasn't as much fun as converting a Jedi Knight or even a Master.

He stretched his neck, trying to crack it. While doing so he kept an eye out at the others in the bar. "The force is what binds the galaxy together," Onyx stated. "It is what gives Jedi and Sith their powers. It is what makes everything function."
