Tenleth electro-thermal ignition technology was developed by the League of Sanctified Steel between 443 ABY to 458 ABY after pilfering some technology demonstrators from a military lab on an abandoned space station in the wake of the Gulag Plague, the team was led by a Sephi engineer named "Tenleth" for whom it is named. The technology's development was started after the Order of Reclamation projected that solid-propellant and gunpowder firearms and slugthrowers were going to be inadequate at damaging or penetrating armor technology deployed in the future so that a method of new ignition and higher-density propellants would be required. Unlike normal projectile weapons such as slugthrowers or firearms, a Tenleth electro-thermal cannon for example uses a plasma-based cartridge to ignite and control the ammunition's propellant relying on an electric charge to vaporize the cartridge, this allows for a much more controlled ignition process.
Electro-thermal cannons or weapon systems utilizing the principles of Tenleth electro-thermal ignition technology are more powerful and efficient when compared to those relying on archaic percussion and solid-propellant charges.
