Strengths:
- Brawler: The Tern class bomber is better suited for dogfighting than your average bomber. It comes equipt with a dorsal mounted laser canon turret that gives it a much wider range of fire than even your typical starfighter. It is able to keep shooting even if someone is able to get behind it. It also comes with a reinforced hull of alusteel that offers it higher defenses than your typical bomber as well as reducing its overall weight so it is less weighed down by its increased armament. Finally it has a pair of deflector shields to protects it for longer than usual single shield that comes on bombers.
- Turning: The Tern class bomber comes with many advantages that your averae bomber can not hope to compete with, but it comes with a massive weakness because of it. The bomber is terrible at making turns even for a bomber. It has to fly straight forward while relying on its average speeds and higher defenses to keep it alive long enough to hit it's target. Only the skilled and the lucky can hope to dodge anything with the ship while everyone else has to take the hits and hope for the best. It can easily be taken out by a direct hit from a proton torpedo which most other bombers and many starfighters come equipt with.
The Tern class Bomber is simple in its basic design just as all the other ships created by Ashhearth Industries tend to be. It starts off with a reinforced alusteel frame with a reinforced alusteel hull around it. In between the frame and the hull is where the starship and electronic components are located. A pair of deflector shields were added on to finish up the defensive portion of the ship to go along with the reinforced hull. A pair of laser canons were placed on the fore of the bomber to allow the pilot to shoot at enemies to defend and attack both. A laser turret was then attached to the dorsal of the ship to further enhance its offensive capabilities and to allow it to shoot at targets in more positions than in front of the ship. A place for an astromech was place between the cockpit and the gunner's turret to allow for further assistance to the crew. On the tips of each of the wings a proton torpedo launcher and missile launcher with a capacity of 4 projectiles each were added to further allow it to perform it's main combat funcation. A proton bomb bay that can hold 2 bombs was added on the under side of the ship below the gunner's turret to finish off it's main functions.
The Tern class Bomber was given a few special features along with the astromech slot to help out the pilot and gunner. A hyperdrive system was added on so that it is not immediately stranded if it loses its carrier/port or if the battle is lost. A communication system was added in so that the crew could speak with others to exchange information or receive orders. A distress beacon was given to the ship along with the communication system so that if the ship is forced to crash land help can find them quickly and easily. The last feature that was added was that the cockpit and gunner's turret were given comfortable seating to help reduce the physical stress upon the crew members.
