Intent: A personal atypical close-quarters weapon for Alexei to use.
Development Thread: If necessary
Manufacturer: Arakyd Industries
Model: N/A
Affiliation: Mandalorian Crusaders
Modularity: No
Production: Mass Production
Material: Armorweave, Isolating coating below to protect wearer from getting possibly electrocated due to any malfunctions.
Classification: Wrist lightning weapon
Size: Typical Wrist weapon sizes
Length: 10cm
Weight: 1kg
Ammunition Type: Electric Energy, Powered by Power Cell that recharges when wearer moves.
Ammunition Capacity: N/A, Overload principle. Keeping it any longer than 20 seconds will result in weapon overloading and is unable to be used.
Effective Range: Average each is four meters max from the user. See Description for more info.
Rate of Fire: Constant while trigger is held.
Special Features:
  • + Grease Lightning: It fires cohesive bursts of electrical energy which resemble lightning (Achlys, 2016) <3.
  • + Isolated: Any malfunction keeps the wearer safe due to the isolative material around the wearer's wrist.
  • + HUD Inclusive: Can be imbedded into a helmet's HUD utilizing its targeting systems and giving feedback of its status to the wearer IF he has an advanced helmet.
  • - Overload Principle: Can't be continuously used as it may overload. Once it overloads, it cannot be fixed.
  • - Less lethal than Convetional weapons: It is less deadly than blasters and slug throwers.
Description: It is a pretty standard weapon which derives from the Canon Heavy and non-Heavy Lightning Rifle, great for stunning foes and disabling them yet non-lethal. The motivation to create such a weapon is due to the facts of:
  • It would be fun for a NFU to blast lightning
  • Give Alexei a slight edge when being caught in close-quarters combat

Furthermore, the weapon has two options of fire:

  • One bolt: Stronger, Shock effect retains for longer period of time, range increased to six meters.
  • Six smaller bolts: Weaker, yet more accurate, as it is in a way as tentacles of bolts being produced from the weapon. Range decreased massively to three meters.

[member="Alexei Makarov"], sounds like a miniature energy web generator, which makes this conceptually sound.

I'd like to see either a set amount of charges or an explanation for why it would have infinite ammunition (special power cel, hooked up to backpack generator, etc).

+ Grease Lightning: It shoots lightning, giving the wearer the ability to electroculate the opponent, delivering minor burns but more importantly shocking them.

- Non-lethal: It can NOT kill. Period. Perfect Crowd Control but can't kill.
Electrical currents can pretty easily kill a person because it can mess up their heart's rhythm. Wikipedia actually has an entire page dedicated to problems with keeping Tasers non-lethal. You can find that here.

I might suggest rephrasing the "non-lethal" part to something like less damaging compared to conventional weapons (blasters, slugthrowers, etc).

Grease Lightning: It shoots lightning,
I understand the idea behind the nomenclature of the ammunition, in that electrical arcs resemble lightning, but there is a large difference between the electrical energy that lightning guns fire/use versus actual bolts of lightning. The main difference is the amount of power, in amperes, and the voltage, as well as the heat. For purposes of keeping people from misunderstanding the wording here and believing it to literally create bolts of lightning, please change "it shoots lightning" (and other similar wordings in the submission, if any), to something more accurate - i.e; "it fires cohesive bursts of electrical energy which resemble lightning".
