Test Gerbil, a Eight Foot Tall Gerbil

Noah sighed as he looked over the the weapon he had developed and frowned. He needed a person who was big enough to control the weapon in case something had happened. He thought of one person who had just popped back up on the radar, someone who was eight foot tall and could probably smash the rifle he was currently looking at.

If she wanted to, she really could smash the rifle. In the past (back when she was almost ten feet tall instead of eight) the sithspawn had managed to break down several durasteel doors. A 'little' rifle like the one Corek was working on wouldn't be very hard to crush. But that wasn't her goal today. Instead she was supposed to test the damn thing, and make sure it wouldn't blow up in people's faces. Though if it blew up on her, she'd probably be fine. Which is why she was the tester in the first place. Why potentially hurt a wee little soldier when you could just scratch a big one? Ven couldn't think of any reasons. Her main concern was whether or not she'd get to blow something up.

That would be very fun.

"A little birdie told me someone needed to borrow a giant. So here I am. Whatcha need?" Ven asked as she strolled into the famous Pit. She wore partial armor, just enough to cover her vitals. Though she was hard to blow up... it was never good to take chances. A dorky blue headband was wrapped around her cranium, reminding people that she, the mad merc, was a very unique person. Of course her size already showed that off... She didn't mind.

Noah was looking over the rifle, making sure all the parts were oiled and moving smoothly before Ven got here when he heard the voice come from behind him. He smiled and then hefted the rifle as he turned around. "First thing first, it's good to have you back Ven, maybe you can actually tame Terana." When Noah said this, a big grin was plastered on his face, in wasn't a secret that the Mac Merc and the Pyre Vanguard had feelings for each other. "Actually, I need your help in firing and making sure that the round doesn't touch the edges of the barrel." Noah informed her as he lifted the rifle up and handed it to Ven.

A small blush covered her cheeks at the mention of her fiery redheaded girlfriend. "Me, tame her? You've got to be kidding. I don't think anyone could do that. Not even me." That was probably true. Just the thought of trying made a chuckle leave Ven's mouth. The literal belly of the literal beast seemed to shake as she did. "Now, firing a rifle, that's something I can do." With a nod she accepted the weapon, quickly looking it over. The main mechanisms seemed simple enough. Compared to most guns it was a little heavy though. Not that it was hard for someone like Ven to use. A few of her organs probably weighed more than this thing.

Probably.

"If the round touched the barrel... that would heat it up, messing the barrel up over time, right? That would affect accuracy and eventually cause misfires or worse... Well, let's make sure that doesn't happen." With a madman's grin she moved over to where the targets were set up (because shooting at plain old walls is a bad, bad idea, especially with a firearm like this). "Boom." She pulled the trigger, letting a round fly loose. Having no idea how to tell if the barrel was touched, she turned back to Corek, waiting for further instruction.

Shooting things was her specialty. Knowing how shooting works was his.

Noah smiled, of course he was going to mention to Ven the fact that he might have tried to sleep with her girlfriend, he didn't really feel like getting his skull crushed today. "Actually, we don't want it to touch the barrel because this is basically a mini-railgun. If it were to touch the barrel, it would screw with the railgun electronics that line the barrel." Noah informed her as he backed up a couple of meters and then put some earplugs in. Once Ven had shot and nothing had exploded, Noah walked up and looked at the rifle. Looking down the barrel, Noah saw that only a small adjustment would be needed, as he saw a little bit of the materials were frayed. Making his small adjustment, Noah handed the rifle to Ven to fire again.
OOC: Make it so it doesn't shoot.

The adjustments were made, and the rifle was put back in her hands. For a moment Ven stood still as a statue. She feeling for the balance of the weapon. When she found a good angle she raised it up. "Boom." Once again she pulled the trigger and!... nothing. The weapon didn't discharge. Not a good sign. "Or not boom?... Corek, I ain't a weapons expert, like I said, but ain't guns supposed to shoot?" Ven gave him a quick grin, trying to let him know it was a gentle tease, and nothing meant against him. She'd used plenty of weapons he had designed before. At least one had led to her not dying for once. "Plus I'm pretty sure I haven't broken anything."

"Yet."

Another moment passed, waiting to see if anything was gonna happen, like a delayed firing or something along those lines. You never knew what to expect from prototypes. When nothing happened she started towards him, keeping the gun pointed at the ground, just in case.

Noah sighed as the rifle didn't fire, it wasn't Ven's fault, Noah actually knew what had happened. Pulling the rifle from her grip, Noah popped open a small container in the side that held a power cell. Grabbing a pair, of tongs, Noah pulled the power cell out and then grabbed a nearby canteen and poured the water on the power cell, this generated a large amount of steam. Sighing, Noah put the power cell on the table and sighed. "This is the problem I've been running into, standard blaster power cells aren't adeaquate enough to power the railgun components. Though I've been working on something with a little more power." Noah told her as he pulled out another power cell and put it in and gave it back to Ven. Noah also handed her a new magazine. "Now try firing a full magazine."

Weapons overheating was a common problem in the middle of big fights. If you pour water on a freshly used power cell (which isn't always smart), it shouldn't steam. Or at least that's what Ven was pretty sure of. So she was rather pleased to see Noah changing it out. Explosions (or whatever else might happen) were tolerable. But she preferred it when only the targets were doing the bleeding and dying. "Got it. This'll be fun." After exchanging the magazine she went back over to the firing range. She lined the weapon up, raised it, and- "Boom." Well, it was actually several small 'booms'. And by 'booms' Ven meant the lovely sound of rounds being fired out.

Despite the inconsistency of the tester, the magazine was soon empty.

Noah smiled as he saw the battery had held up and Ven had been able to empty a entire four round magazine, effectively punching some pretty big holes in the targets. "Now the best part." Noah told her as he walked over to the table and grabbed another magazine. "These are HEAP rounds. High Explosive Armor Piercing rounds. They've been coated in a polymer to prevent them from exploding. I just need you to test it so it won't explode in the barrel."

"Wait... so it... might explode? Probably not, but possibly?... It's a good thing I like you Corek. Let's just hope that if it goes boom to early, Ventasia doesn't hear about it. She wouldn't take kindly to you blowing me up." With a forced chuckle she accepted the magazine, loaded the gun, and aimed. For a moment she hesitated, wondering just how much she trusted Corek. He said the polymer would keep it from exploding on her... And as much as she hated trusting people, she did trust him. To a degree. Once more she said "Boom" and pulled the trigger.

Noah rolled his eyes a bit. "It's just a 20mm shell exploding. Don't be a big baby." Noah told her a bit as he patted her arm, though, that didn't stop him from backing up a few good meters. Once Ven fired, the round, thankfully, didn't explode in the barrel, but it only got half way to the target before it exploded in mid-air about 20 meters from the target. Frowning, Noah pulled out another mag and handed it to Ven. "Here. try these. The polymer coating on these is a little thicker and can stand about 25 extra degrees."

"I'm not a baby. And if I was, I'd be a giant baby. Not a big one." The round went boom (just as Ven had totally not been fearing) a little early. Still not early enough to harm her. "See? It went boom. It wasn't supposed to go boom yet. I have rational not-fears. This better one better work better, or you're buying me dinner." Of course, the credits she was being paid would probably be enough to buy her breakfast, lunch, and supper. But hey, second dinner is always fine. Once the magazines were exchanged, Ven lifted the weapon, aimed, and fired again. This time without hesitation. Whatever the consequences might be, they'd still never be as bad as when 'ol Ashy Varanin had zapped her with lightning. Force lightning, to be exact.

Noah laughed as she mentioned it exploding. "Not only will I pay for your dinner. But I'll pay your hospital bills and the price of your next biofiber limb." Then a idea came to his head. "I'll make a bet with you, if it explodes before it gets to the target, I'll give you one of them after it goes through marketing. But if I win, you and Ventasia have to babysit my daughter for two nights." Noah informed and then looked as she fired and to Noah's huge relief, the round exploded once it had hit the target.

"You're on." It wasn't like Ven would actually be trusted with caring for a child. She was huge and would probably break the door while trying to get in. The most she'd likely end up doing was terrify the child. And though she trusted Ventasia, somehow she figured that the woman wouldn't be the best mother either. "Whelp, looks like you'll be paying for more than dinner. Does your home have insurance? Doorways don't exactly like me." Ven smirked, lowering the weapon as she did. Her gaze was still locked on the smoking target. Part of her wondered if there was a fire to be put out over there.

Eh, she'd worry about it later.
