After facing the challenges of the Force on a pilgrimage to Jedha and helping Caden Evesa, Teyla went through the kyber mines to find her crystal and began the construction of her very first lightsaber. For all intents and purposes, it is a normal single-bladed lightsaber, with an elaborate hilt design that is both ornate and a reflection of her home world Naboo. The maroon crodium was chosen for the colors significance on her home world, representing life, vitality, and passionate idealism.
