Designed by the various minds within the Trade Federation, the TF02 Battle Droid; Ensilage Pattern was engineered to be the next generation of combat-capable battle droids. While the Battle Droid was outfitted with a myriad of security countermeasures to combat the threat of having its control wrested away from the properly authorized personnel, it’s external systems were entirely rudimentary - much like its predecessor. These exterior systems were designed to safeguard the Battle Droid whilst it carried out its assigned duties, many of which intended to keep idle hands from trying to tamper with the Droid in the field. While the Battle Droid wasn’t armed with anything lethal, the Ensilage Pattern was equipped with a host of integrated non-lethal systems that’d disable an Organic being should the need arise. However, the Ensilage Pattern was capable of equipping a host of external weaponry that would greatly increase their combat functionality, so long as the weapons could be carried within their skeletal armatures. Unlike its predecessor, the Ensilage wasn't designed to be the most affordable battle droid on the market. The Ensilage was bequeathed a heavily-restricted variant of Artificial Intelligence, where it was capable of creatively interpreting their commands and operating autonomously, but within certain pre-programmed parameters. Thus, with a measure of sentience and a host of systems to enhance their combat potential, the Ensilage would become the epitome of rank and file battle droids on the galactic market.
