Disney's Princess
It's me musing. You've been warned. :p

Kylo Ren's Powers

Stasis - He can freeze Poe, Rey, and a blaster bolt mid-air. Holding the spell in place doesn't seem to require concentration either. Though, it doesn't last forever as Finn noticed when the blue bolt released and exploded nearby.

Mind Control - He can search another person's mind just by concentrating on them. Even knocking Poe and Rey unconscious completely with just a wave of his hand.

Push/Pull - Threw Rey upside a tree with just a gesture. Grabbed an FO officer and pulled his body into his grasp with just a wave.

Endure Injury - Chewie's crossbow absolutely devastated Stormtroopers on many occasions. However, it only seemed to wound and annoy Kylo Ren. Indeed, Kylo sustained many injuries during his duel and yet remained both conscious and resilient against them.

Sense Han Solo - Kylo knew when Han landed on Starkiller Base by intuition alone. However, he could not sense his immediate presence. Even when actively searching for him and passing within only a few meters of him inside the corridors.

Rey's Powers

Mind Control - After resisting Kylo's mind control attempts, Rey begins to show immediate affinity for mind control. Seemly keeping calm, collected, and exerting herself upon others by instinct. Kylo comments that these are 'her powers' and that the longer she remains outside of his custody, the more dangerous she becomes.

Visions - These are not dreams. These are full blown sensory overload and almost interactive. Reaching both into the past and, into her future. As evidenced of seeing Kylo in the winter forest before it happens.

Sabers - During her duel with Kylo, Rey expresses no special affinity or immaculate perfection in her saber dance. However, she does see openings in Kylo's guard, sense his weaknesses, and expose and exploit his wounded technique. Which, to be honest about Kylo's form, wasn't much. Even though Kylo did show he could stagger and knock Finn to the ground with just one blow.

Focus on the Force - During her duel with Kylo, Rey calms her mind and calls upon the Force. Becoming much more confident, poised, and dangerous in the moments afterwards. Though, she did not appear superhuman to any great excess.

Stormtrooper Prowess

Blasters - Blasters blew right threw people and always caused tremendous kinetic kickback. Causing almost anyone hit to be thrown back with a giant hole in their chest. One shot kills are common. Poe's X-Wing was even disabled and eventually completely destroyed by blasters and heavy mounted blasters alone. Interesting. Maybe that's why they also shoot upwards at the X-Wings during the battle later on.

Toxins - Finn mentions to Rey that Trooper helms filter out smoke, but not toxins in the air. Oops.

Social Conditioning - Stormtroopers, post Clone Wars, are described by Hux and Phasma as being 'conditioned for conformity.' Raised to be troopers from an early age. Especially in regards to Finn. Sadly, they are still perfect suckers for Force Mind Tricks.

Riot Gear - Finn encounters a Stormtrooper equipped with a Stun Baton and Shield. The Trooper discards his shield and calls 'Traitor'. Then engages and successfully overpowers Finn. Even against a Lightsaber. Which, was wielded without any special abilities by Finn.

Misc

TIE - Can hover in atmosphere, some have turreted weapons that can shoot backwards, can fit two people inside them, have ejection seats with chutes, and are equipped with internal life support. (Note: Wookiee gives two types of new TIEs in the Resurgent-Class SDs inventory. Could just be the TIE/sf is superior.)

Turbolasers - Still have bad tracking systems against small targets.

AA Missiles - Merciless homing devices against small targets but can be shot down.

Starkiller Base - Pretty stupid really.

No Force Speed/Acrobatic - Kylo walked everywhere and Rey's jumping prowess didn't seem incredibly potent either in the forest. Hmm.

Body Armor - Useless on every occasion.

Hyperspace - Called 'Lightspeed' constantly. X-Wings also still have Hyperdrives.

Money - Han is said to have borrowed 50,000 from two parties of pirates. Seemed like a lot of cash to me.

Smuggling - Han was smuggling creatures between worlds. Interesting form of contraband to choose. Hmm.

IC Conclusions

Force Sense - Debuffed, Kylo couldn't sense Han or Rey very well at all in my opinion. Leia being the outlying factor.
Mind Control - Super Buffed, Kylo and Rey used it often to great effect.
Swordfighting - Debuffed, No more Kung Fu choreography.
Force Speed - Debuffed, Kylo and Rey walked everywhere.
Push/Pull - Same. People are easy to move, Starships are heavy.
Body Armor - Debuffed. One shot kills everywhere.
Guns - Buffed. Tremendous force and many one shot kills. Kylo being the outlying factor.
Lightspeed - Buffed. Travel was super quick. This might be a plot device however.
TIEs - Buffed.
Missiles - Buffed.
X-Wings - Buffed. Poe ate TIEs for breakfast and fired dozens of paired torpedoes during the movie.

I thought Starkiller was an interesting "technical update" of the Deathstar and how it functioned literally like it was called. As plot it was indeed, meh. But god the concept art for it is super cool.

Not sure I quite agree with this or not...I believe it requires concentration to maintain, just, not a whole lot. And it releases only when he wants it to. I don't think it necessarily has a time limit, so to speak.

I agree with pretty much everything else though.

[member="Seraphina Shel'tah"] - Sure. I only noticed that he retained his own freedom of movement while the ability was active. He could approach Rey and Poe, speak openly, wonder about Finn not shooting the hostages, and wander about while it was active. So... Yeah. If he was concentrating? I sure couldn't tell. :D

Good thoughts.

Corey's OOC

And where were the spiders
Novel says Special Forces TIE. Turret and two crew may be unique to that.

Even crossing states you have animal laws. And exotic pets are a real world smuggling thing. Gives new ideas.

TIEs have hyper drives. According to the grunt.

And I need to see the movie again but there appears to be new things with hyperspace. Waiting to pull out? Landing at light speed? (Sorta)

To be honest on the saber fights, it felt a lot more real to me then in the prequels. I hated the dashing dance of aiming for the other persons saber, in this its very clear the intent is to beat the other duelist and not dazzle them with their fancy foot work.

Loved the Stasis, shows that Ren is a talented force user in certain aspects though he is most likely not overtly trained and a lot of his effectiveness is just not there.

I just think Ren had some serious armor and is a true psycho when it comes to pain.

You get shot IRL with most weapons there is a lot of knock back and kinetic force, people flip forward, backwards and some just drop in place. Was pretty realistic for what i would think a future weapon would do.

Han states hunting Rathars or what ever is expensive, i mean they are responsible for a massacre and the very mention of the word scares the ever living hell out of Finn. So one would assume his much bigger crew he had had at one point wasn't cheap and we don't know the inflatted or devalued value of the credit in this day and age. Credits could have taken a huge dump since the GE fell. Also i could imagine hunting a Trex to use the example if they were still alive or two would not be cheap and would take some special gear to tackle and hold and bubble up and then eventually hotdrop.

I don't think anything was really debuffed in the sense of the force, i think both Rey and Ren are rank amatuers in most of the force. ( rey for certain) and Ren is probably just shown the very basics of it by Snoke to ensure Snoke is still more powerful. But i like most of your musings.

I love this because it is so true to every movie and the TV show. I kind of detest the pinpoint accuracy people portray force senses when we never ever witness that in the movies.

Also, not sure if we should call it what it is.

Rey has flown stuff, but i hardly doubt she was flying manuevers like she did on Jakku.

Rey's Powers could include an 'instinctive piloting'

And I'd also daresay that the visions could be something of 'psychometry.' She touched the saber, saw Bespin, saw the slaughter of the new Jedi, maybe the saber was there? If its a psychometry thing, it could lend that she isn't a Skywalker. Perhaps.

Jay I dont think it was Mind Control, I think it was Drain Knowledge. Also I like to think the Status lasts however long he wants it to, unless someone breaks free from it, IE Luke maybe.

Though I love this, jood jobssss
