BIOGRAPHY:
Thadd Zarr was born as an only child to a poor family on the outskirts of the rebuilt city of New Vertica on the planet Nar Shaddaa. Thadd's father, Rath, worked as a mechanic and navigator on an in-system freighter that transported materials and supplies from Nal Hutta to it's local moons and planets. His mother, Shala, picked up jobs as a clerical agent at random tax and tariffs offices in their city. Even though their current situation was quite lowly their family history was a rich one. Rath regularly told stories to his son about the ancient Zarr family and how they were once great warriors. Force users were not unheard of in their family line. Nearly 500 years ago though, when the great virus spread, a few remaining refugees of their family sought shelter within Hutt space and their history forever changed. They were a humble family that worked hard to survive on an unforgiving moon dominated by the Hutt lords.
Even though he acquired a large amount of skill sets in his life Thadd never went to a formal school on New Vertica. From an early age Thadd took an interest in piloting and weapons and became an apprentice at the local space port. He took advantage of working side by side of some of the most notorious pilots, mercenaries, and pirates in the galaxy. At an early age he also showed signs of being able to use the force, an ability he kept tightly guarded. He gained life experience very fast working in those less than comfortable surroundings.
When he was 15 years old he was assigned to a transport under the command of Captain Draken as tactical officer. Even though the captain's ship was barely space-worthy and rattled apart every time they made an entry into atmosphere, he took his job seriously. He learned the ins and outs of weapons systems and the general runnings of a ship. Aside from the the constant worrying of his parents Thadd took part in various smuggling and pirating operations. Thadd was starting to see a side of the galaxy that was dangerous but very profitable.
But things became a whirlwind of problems several years later when the freighter that Thadd's father was commandeering, in lo of its normal captain, was intercepted by a local Hutt picket ship. They preformed a routine scan and found that the Freighter was carrying Hutt slaves illegally stolen from its owner. Not having knowledge of the situation, Rath and the ship was taken into custody and the entire crew was arrested. Thadd was quickly notified of the arrest and quickly took the first transport out to Nal Hutta. During one of the prisoners transfers however, one of the guards pushed Rath's limits and found himself fist-fighting his prisoner. Rath was outmatched when the guard pulled his blaster and fired into his face at point blank range. By the time Thadd arrived on planet it was only to find his father dead and identify the body. Hutt security officers had simultaneous arrived on his home planet, Nar Shaddaa, and took Thadd's mother into custody as leverage against the Zarr family.
The stolen slaves that were being smuggled on board Rath's freighter were the possession of an especially vile Hutt named Grom Talak Gord whose name translates as the Putrid. As a cunning Hutt usually sees these types of situations, Gord the Hutt turned his unfortunate missing slaves into an advantage in his favor. Not only did he have in possession the wife of the traitorous slave-running freighter captain, he had his son begging for his mother's life and safety. The Hutt offered his mother's life in exchange for loyal service in his cartel. The more loyal his service, the better chances that his mother would not be harmed. Thadd agreed.
Shala became a slave bound by chains to the Hutt while Thadd became his slave without them.
Despite Thadd's hatred against his Hutt master, he served the Cartel faithfully for nearly 10 years. During that time Thadd was used as the Hutt's runner, messenger, assassin, and general "strong arm". Anyone that Gord the Hutt saw as a possible threat usually received a visit from his "chained dog" Thadd Zarr. Thadd's identity was kept highly guarded by the Hutt so as not to reveal one of his shadow agents and as he described him, his "hidden blade". Thadd proved his worth, value and skill and slowly moved up the ranks of the Cartel despite being considered a common "slave" by his peers. Thadd's force abilities usually gave him an advantage over his enemies even though they weren't finely tuned. He regularly fought an internal battle while realizing his operations. They usually consisted of mission that were less then morally correct and many times the Hutt used and tortured his mother as proper "motivation" for Thadd. He tottered on the edge many times between darkness and light but learned to close his emotions and complete his missions. All for the sake of his family.
Also during his time serving in the cartel he crossed paths with a rouge Jedi while on a mission near Russan. The rouge never revealed his true identity but offered to train Thadd in order to hone his force abilities. Thadd, pushed by curiosity and the prospect of gaining an edge over his master, agreed, and over the course of the next 10 years in his service to the cartel he would make frequent stops to Russan to secretly train with his "force mentor." The secretive "master" held to the concepts of the Je'daii, a group of ancient force users that believed in finding balance in both dark and light sides of the force. This balance was what kept Thadd sane during those darkest moments of his life.
A pivotal moment in Thadd's history came while on a mission on Nar Kreeta. His objective was a target of revenge, supposedly a pirate that had dropped a large spice shipment that belonged to Gord the Hutt. He was accompanied by some of the most trusted security officers in the Hutt's cartel to ensure the "success" of the mission. When Thadd successfully penetrated the pirate's secure compound he found that the only person in the underground bunker was a young boy, scared and crying in the corner. Thadd transmitted back to Nal Hutta, reporting that there must be a problem, a confusion of targets or location. The transmitter buzzed back in Huttese, "There is no error. Kill the boy. This will be the greatest payment for my lost shipment of spice." Thadd, shaken to his core, couldn't bring himself to execute the boy. He transmitted back and refused to terminate the target. A female voice crackled over the transmitter, his mother, pleading for him to complete his mission. Thadd gritted his teeth, tears filled his eyes and he tried to recall the words of his mysterious master on Ruusan, "Being a slave dominates your life. A true master of the force is not dominated by light or dark. He is never dominated by others, but uses the force to control and dominate his surroundings. That is true power. Find your balance, find your peace." Thadd refused a final time and heard a short shriek and the sound of blaster fire. The Hutt's voice came over the transmitter once more, "Your services have been terminated." Thadd became filled with rage and unhitched his medium blaster rifle that he kept carefully hung on his side. The security team that was "escorting" him didn't last for more than a few seconds. Thadd boarded his personal delta class escort shuttle and headed to the only place where he knew peace existed, his master on Ruusan.
Thadd spent the next two years in self imposed exile and training with his new "master". The loss of his mother came as a great emotional blow but under that pain there was a sense of release, freedom, that he hadn't felt in a long time. And with his new training, he could understand his force abilities better, and gain a level of balance between the dark and the light. In time his aging and mysterious "master" died on Ruusan, leaving him his hand crafted, madog-steel, sword to Thadd. According to his master's legend he held that this sword was used by the first Je'daii to fight oppression and liberate slaves just like him. And it would by this sword, his personal symbol, which Thadd would forge a new future doing the same, liberating others from oppression.
Thadd left Ruusan to meet up with a diplomatic ship in Omega Protectorate space. His master gave him a contact, Tegaea Alcori, that served in the Omega Protectorate. His master assured him that he would be able find a new life under their direction and that his abilities would continue to grow.
Thadd made his first contact outside of Hutt space in years when he met up with the consular ship. His career within the Omega Protectorate thus began...
