One of the biggest draws to me on Star Wars is the super alien sort of races. The kind that don't click with how humans perceive themselves, the kinds that are super distinct. The Infinite Empire was awesome to me when I first learned of it in Kotor, the vong were interesting (I never looked far into it), the bad batch episode where they accidentally turned on some alien super weapon giraffe. The Bryn here on chaos. Other mediums introduced more to me, such as rhe Prometheans from Halo, and the one that caught my attention again recently was the Architects from Subnautica. Hive minded individuals who live less in bodies and more in the Cloud, uploading their consciousnesses to perfectly curated 3d printed bodies when needed and focusing on research.
Biomechanical stuff with a mindset that doesn't understand how humans work. I started writing a droid that wanted to download organic consciousness to save them from the curse of flesh. I want to take that a step farther.
The pitch, basic as it is right now, is as follows:
A biomechanical species that has long abandoned it's original species form to make a 'perfect' shape. They work with a shared consciousness where they can share info with one another via the Cloud their minds are attached to, with the ability to upload in case of bodily destruction. They could be from outside the galaxy, could be from within. Like the Bryn, shaping worlds to their needs under that sinple thought; they need what they need and everything else is inconsiquencial.
Character ideas:
The Scientist: Focused intently on research, studying everything to find parts that might be useful for progression, either as a culture or the physical vessels for their conciousness.
The Savior: The other species are trapped in their inferior vessels, so saving them from that fate is something they can do.
The Assimilated: A person from these other species brought into the fold. Like the Kilik embracing humanoids in Swtor, they're adapting to the new life style. Maybe they still have lingering attachments they're trying to find, maybe they're trying to move on. Etc.
The Soldier: With no real fear of destruction (short of the Cloud being destroyed or being disconnected from it) what would that show in a soldier? With cold calculation on what they need and what needs to be done, how do they operate in the field to progress the main group?
Some ideas to get the creative juices flowing. There's no name for the species, or sub, or anything like that yet. This is an interest check to see if this is something people are either inspired by, or have wanted to write.
Hit me up, post below. If there's enough interest, I'll make a group to talk more. Otherwise, this'll be a little project for me to work on.
