OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
2: Never Harm another Light Sider, even if they attack you.
3: Never use what you create for greed, but to fight the Dark Side
4: To create in of itself is to strengthen the cause of Good against Evil
The Academics scoff at the approach of Jedi, past and present, feeling their approach has exacerbated the deteriorating condition of the Galaxy, and weakened the Light in it's struggle. They help other fringe groups of Light Siders evade Jedi scrutiny, providing shelter and even research materials for their own clandestine activities with the Light Side

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Formed after a Jedi Master went rogue and used her skill at Alkahest to create powerful light side abominations to slay a Sith Cult that had murdered her son, she fled the Order's custody after growing disillusioned, perceiving the Order as having treated her worse than they treated the ones who killed her son. This led to an enmity with most of the Jedi Order that has lasted to this day, the Organization she formed taking in disaffected Light Side Users and letting them explore the limits of Force Imbuement or Alkahest, waging war as they see fit on the Dark Side, willing to subvert the Order's authority. Though they have never made war on the Jedi Order or attacked the innocent, their extreme positions and warping the Light Side in the process of creating their stuff, The Order has always tried to arrest their members when found, only to be thwarted by the Academics staying one step ahead of them, adopting covert approaches to continue their work and remain free. Having been silent since The Gulag Era, Nathan ran afoul of them during his original career as a Jedi, not exactly sympathizing with their take but willing to make deals with them on occasion. In his obsession to destroy The Cult of The Brain Demon, Nathan sought them out, offering them a place in the forces he is building up on the Planet Kytrand. The Academics accepted due to their founder recognizing Nathan and working with him in the past, albeit uneasily. Flush with Credits in a way they have never been before, the Academics can now afford a staggering array of research materials to craft their greatest works yet.
- Intent: To create an dangerous organization for Nathan to conduct business/ally with

- Tradition Name: Academics of Flesh
- Tradition Type: Formal Research Group/Cult
- Tradition Focus: Loosely Light Side group focused on exploring the absolute limits of Alkahest , producing deadly, sapient creations to hunt and kill Dark Jedi. These creations can be standardized, but are prohibitively expensive pursuits for the Cult, leading to extensive prices for creating living masterpieces that hunt Sith
- Influence: Minor
- Orientation: Light Leaning. It welcomes a lot of eccentrics as well as the genuinely mentally ill, so long as their talent for Alkahest cannot be questioned
- Influence Area: They were once hidden on Susevfi in a magically concealed Enclave, but have since transferred their assets to Kytrand
- Symbol: See above
- Description: Operating for centuries in covert and sometimes very, very overt defiance of the Jedi Order's strongest structures against altering life or creating life with the Force, The Academics for years fashioned biological horrors with Alkahest, allying with whoever was willing to take the fight to Dark Side users without playing by the Jedi's rules of engagement. Their creations are often made to resemble perfectly normal people, and are used as sleeper agents in Jedi Enclaves and Temples due to their light side auras not bringing up suspicion, as well as being inherently able to mask their true thought and intent, only to act on the commands of their true masters when missives are received. It is worth noting that the Academics have never harmed even a Padawan or an innocent civilian, and have never opposed the aims of the governments Jedi have aligned with. But their almost totally unregulated approach to their creations and extremist practices in their subsequent employment against Dark Side followers, along with their fast and loose approach to the instruction of their students means that the Jedi Order for years has attempted to permanently shut down the Organization and arrest all of its members without exception, only to be thwarted by their infiltrators informing them of raids. Their greatest period of activity was during the Gulag Era, where their creations, inherently unnatural and horrific, were ironically often the only thing preventing total chaos from breaking out on a world. It was also in this period their structure and methods of study became more focused and standardized, which only served to make them even more dangerous in some ways. They preserved many teachings and secrets of Alkahest that would otherwise have been lost and taken possibly centuries to recreate. In the modern era they are again resuming their favorite pastime with a vengeance thanks to black ops financial support from Nathan Bloodscrawl.
- Membership: Anyone can join so long as they have demonstrable knowledge of Alkahest, clear proof of how lethal a given creation can be to Dark Side Users, and the ability to create said lethal creation in front of them. This alone has successfully prevented them from being infiltrated by their enemies: Sith because such an intense use of Alkahest would likely shatter their connection to the Dark Side, and Jedi because such an intense use of Alkahest would be seen as an abuse no true Jedi could commit and still be called one. The only one who truly controls them is their headmaster.
- Motives: The Academics of Flesh are driven to push the limits of Alkahest, regardless of the viewpoints of other Light Siders, and are especially driven to deploy their creations against Dark Adepts and all who would follow and serve them, due to an ancient feud
- Rules and Teachings: Due to their single binding principal of studying and employing Alkahest, combined with influence from Dathomir and Jedha Cults, as well as influence from former/disgraced Jedi (One of Whom is their headmaster) Members have some of the most aggressive mindsets of any Light Side Cult, and have only a few actual rules:
2: Never Harm another Light Sider, even if they attack you.
3: Never use what you create for greed, but to fight the Dark Side
4: To create in of itself is to strengthen the cause of Good against Evil
The Academics scoff at the approach of Jedi, past and present, feeling their approach has exacerbated the deteriorating condition of the Galaxy, and weakened the Light in it's struggle. They help other fringe groups of Light Siders evade Jedi scrutiny, providing shelter and even research materials for their own clandestine activities with the Light Side
- Reputation: Seen as dangerous, heretical, and mad by the vast majority of mainstream Jedi, their creations are nonetheless acknowledged as excessively dangerous works of living art. Though it has been almost two centuries since they last made a splash, their unexpected return to the fray has given many older Jedi cause for extreme alarm, as the prohibition against their extremist practices have never been lifted. The very idea an Academic could be in the area was once a source of paranoia for Jedi in the Gulag Era
- Openness: Highly secretive, members go out of their way to avoid visual cues that give the idea they are Force Users, preceding civilian clothes or basic, cheap armors that could come from anywhere when in public. Also when in public, they never carry weapons normally
- Characteristic Equipment: The Academics are a hodgepodge of different eccentrics, thus some may be heavily armed (In the sense they have multiple weapons or even armed with a single Lightsaber if they were former Jedi). They tend to use whatever they had when they joined. In the rare instances they have chosen to make themselves an active threat on the battlefield, members tend to wear gear similar to that of the ancient rank of Jedi Sniper, albeit their fighting method is often completely different, and said gear comes in a variety of colors when recovered
- Notable Force Skills: Highly skilled at both making their bodies and presences in the Force invisible , and gave a basic skill in Force Jump and Force Speed, but an often GRANDMASTER understanding of Alkahest, and can employ it in shocking ways. They can also heal their bodies to a limited degree
- Notable Force Limitations: As they progress in their obsession with Alkahest they start to lose command of telekinetic powers, and have great trouble using non light side Force Abilities
