- Stealth Ship: The Afterthought is equipped with a variety of stealth systems, making it in many ways very similar to the old StealthX, potentially allowing it to travel undetected, especially with its shields deactivated and running on its baffled drives.
- High Performance Vessel: The Afterthought is an exceptionally fast and maneuverable vessel, enabling it to keep pace with some of the fastest starships in the galaxy.
- Shield Piercer: The Afterthought has been equipped with an experimental, enlarged individual field disruptor that when activated allows the ship to slip through shields.
- Unshielded (Stealth mode): For the Afterthought to make the most use of its stealth features, its shields must be deactivated, as its shield signature may be detected (albeit with a weaker signature than normal) by sensors like DERs.
- Low Performance Craft (Stealth mode): At its stealthest levels, the Afterthought has to use baffled and/or chemical drives, meaning that its flight performance in both speed and maneuverability is lessened, though it is often still far better than the average, mass produced starfighter.
- Drained (Field Disruptor): The Afterthought's field disruptor is partially powered by draining all power from the ship's four laser cannons. This means that the weapons typically cannot be used within several minutes of using the disruptor field generator as the capacitors regain their power.
The Afterthought is the personal starfighter of jedi Kadan Scipora. Built off the airframe an experimental X-wing design, the Afterthought was rebuilt by Lucerne Labs to be a proof of concept stealth fighter following the destruction of a squadron of Phantasms over Ossus at the hands of the Sith Eternal before being given to Kadan after trials testing was complete. To that end, the Afterthought includes sophisticated stealth systems including a nonferromagnetic hull, baffled ion engines, chemical drives, sensor masks, and the extensive use of reflec throughout both the external and internal hull. Consequently, the Afterthought is an exceptionally stealthy craft, though it's stealth abilities is limited by the pilot's choices. Generally speaking, the slower the Afterthought moves and with less systems powered up, the more stealthy it becomes. If stealth is not a concern, the Afterthought can act as a high performance starfighter with a reduced sensor signature on standard sensors. Exceptionally fast and maneuverable, as a direct combat craft the Afterthought still has the offensive and defensive power of the traditional X-wing albeit with more versatility thanks to Lucerne Labs's characteristically adaptable technology. The Afterthought also has a few modifications made specifically to make it more suitable to its new jedi owner. This includes an advanced beckon call that allows the Afterthought to fly itself to Kadan as well as a a field disruptor, which allows the Afterthought to be flown as an infiltrator though shielded areas. While the Afterthought is an exceptional starfighter, it takes a great amount of skill and good judgement to make the fullest use of its abilities on the battlefield.
