The Age of Obsidian (Attn: All, Especially Templars)

Over the course of the past evening, the admins and I have been mulling over the identity and direction of the faction. Although the Templar Order has been one of the hallmarks of the CIS on Chaos, it has often been confusing and deemed complicated by many. It's also been subject to numerous changes that just don't seem to stick very well. So, in an effort to streamline the faction and solve our identity crisis, I now announce the end of the Templar Order.

And the beginning of the Knights of Obsidian.

One of the many issues that the Order was having was the pre-conceived notions which came from its name. As such, we decided to start fresh and built up and resulted in a one hundred percent original concept. Fundamentally, our beliefs are the same. Our organization is different. No longer will there be ten thousand divisions, but something much simpler to follow. So, without any further gilding the lily, here is the faction advertisement I have prepared for you all...

Please, feel free to ask questions and let your opinions be known!

A sect of warriors blessed with the Force, dedicated to the defense of the meek, the protection of their homeland, and the eradication of the corrupt.

We Will Fight the Good Fight...

The Knights Obsidian are a congregation of Force wielders located within the Confederacy of Independent Systems. They share a strong relationship with the nation they call home, raising their blades to fight on her behalf and to carry her cause as their own. It is their mission to ensure freedom and justice for all; whilst cutting down those who would favor oppression and corruption. While protecting the innocent, the defenseless, and the meek are priorities of the Knights...they will not show mercy to their adversaries. In whatever manner they deem necessary, they can, will, and are trained to utilize all their strength to fell their enemies when the time comes.

Unlike other Orders and Cultures, the Knights of Obsidian do not abide by strict dogmas or subject their midst to torturous punishments and other such hells. Nor do they worship or otherwise elevate one spectrum of the Force over the other. Instead, they stand upon a solid foundation of moral responsibility and keep one another accountable to what is right. For this reason, members of the Knights Obsidian are capable of wielding Light and Dark without fear of disrupting the whole or losing themselves entirely.

Together, the Knights are united under the leadership of their Lord Commander and embark on a ceaseless quest: to protect the innocent, aide those in need, and to crush to enemies of freedom under their boots.

...With All of Our Might...

Organizationally-speaking, the Knights Obsidian are much akin to a well-oiled machine. Their midst profoundly lacks a variety of sub-classes or divisions and operates by rank-based chain of command. In particular, the Knights are intimately tied to the military forces of the Confederacy; so much so that each rank within the Knights coincides with an officer's role. Cadets are synonymous with Sergeants, Knights with Commanders, and Masters with Generals. Despite lacking specialized divisions, the Knights have a variety of options at their disposal. Some elect to command naval vessels and fleets, whilst others lead troops on the ground. Others decide to step into the realm of healing, whilst some embark on special operations or focus on intelligence.

Whatever the case may be, the Knights Obsidian has a wide variety of choices for any potential member to choose from.

At the helm of the organization, as aforementioned, is the Lord (or Lady) Commander. This individual is the undisputed leader of the Knights Obsidian and handles both day-to-day operations and making the hard decisions that affect that whole of the organization. Underneath him is an informal congregation known as the Master Board. Unlike other Master-based Councils, this congregation does not have leadership power within the organization itself, but instead convenes for specific purposes. The elevation of Knights to Master, the dispersal of restricted knowledge, and conducting disciplinary hearings are amongst the purposes for the Board's existence.

...Until the Last Breath.

The Knights Obsidian can be found in numerous locations throughout Confederate space; typically in what are known as "Sanctuaries". These are literal cities built for a singular purpose: to give refugees from across the Galaxy a new home and a fresh start. Each Sanctuary affords its denizens an occupation based upon the world's primary source of income; and it falls upon the Knights to personally protect these individuals. For this reason, their bases of operations are always built in the center of a Sanctuary. Known as Sanctums, these fortresses provide emergency protection to the people; as well as a place for each Knight to call home. Here, training occurs, growth occurs, and the paths of the Knights truly begin.

If standing alongside a congregation such as the Knights Obsidian piques your intrigue, then feel free to join us today! All are welcome within our midst!
