The following is a quote from the article:
"Now that some of the dust has settled, many questions remain. Have the Jedi schismed, even if only informally? Is the relationship between the Silvers and the NJO irreparably damaged by these events? The division certainly seems wider than it has ever been, despite Ryv Karis accepting Thurion Heavenshield’s peace offering on Commenor. Though it failed to find acceptance, the Elder Compact is still talked about and alluded to by Jedi across the galaxy; the fallout from it will influence the decisions made today and tomorrow. The legacy of the alliance that never was is still growing, and will continue to grow, but only time will tell what direction it will grow in."
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Nimdok became involved in the Elder Compact while posing as his Jedi Padawan alter ego Tom Kovack, who at the time was a Padawan with the Silver Jedi. So was his protégé Starlin Rand. Starlin was convinced to follow Laertia Io because his master, Syd Celsius, was Io's lover. Kovack however refused to take sides, though he was there at two of the three Jedi conferences that were held to discuss the matter prior to Dantooine, and he stood by Starlin when the boy had to face punishment on Commenor after the battle.
As Nimdok, the professor penned this article in an attempt to make sense of these convoluted events, which he found incredibly confusing at the time. He discovered that false reports were made of the Compact's alleged passing, and was able to clarify that only a handful of Silver Jedi actually fought for the Sith at Dantooine, and that for their own reasons.

- Overview: In a nutshell: the so-called "Elder Factions", the Silver Jedi, Confederacy, and Sith Empire, met in secret on Naboo to discuss a proposed alliance to fight the Bryn. It failed. But false reports spread that the "Elder Compact" had actually passed, leading to division among the Jedi. Laertia Io in particular supported the Compact, while others would wind up participating in the ensuing battle at Dantooine for their own reasons. Those involved were dealt with severely, although Laertia Io escaped punishment and went on to become a menace to the Jedi, eventually falling to the Sith. This was the beginning of a schism phase among the Jedi, fueled by preexisting tensions between the enclaves.
