STRENGTHS
- Bombardment: The Arcanius is armed with two massive Orbital Autocannons, capable of laying down devastating firepower to both planetary targets and space born threats. Mixed with its immense support firepower, the Arcanius is capable of laying waste to fleets of enemy starships in head on battles.
- Juggernaut: The Arcanius is built with overlapping shield emitters, and several meters of various hull plating. The vessel is capable of weather a storm of enemy weapons fire, and even should its shields be lost, it can withstand a punishing barrage of fire.
- Spear Tip: The Arcanius is designed with an aggressive combat mentality in mind. Its primary armaments are all in forward facing positions, and while the turbolasers can be brought around to fire in broadsides, the Orbital Autocannons cannot. Further, there is minimal heavy weaponry on the rear of the vessel, primarily only covered by defensive weapon emplacements. It must face its foes head on, with flanking maneuvers and retreats posing a dangerous risk.
- Hive: The various hangars for the Arcanius are spread out through the underside of the vessel, it protected alcoves inside the ship. Each of these alcove holds a single squadron of fighters or transports, and has loading ramps that guide them to the main hangar and launch bay. The nature and design of this hive network of alcove hangars allows for greater carrying capacity, but slower deployment speed, as only a single alcove can be unloaded, loaded, or launched at any given time.
The Arcanius is the first vessel built by the Dominion of Shadows following the Proclamation of Intent, the declaration by the Dominion of Shadows to begin preparations for their galactic expansion ambitions. Under Operation New Life, the goal of which was to create a new flagship for each of the Dominion's Shamans, the population of the Dominion was mustered together, and entire industries were created seemingly overnight to ramp up their domestic production capabilities. The Shaman Kathal was chosen to be the first benefactor of this ambition. Dragging a starship design from the archives of their homeworld, the Arcanius was brought up to modern standards, and enlarged by thousands of meters to serve as the flagship of the Shaman.
Serving as both a warship of devastating ability and a mobile temple ship for the Dominion of Shadows, the Arcanius houses thousands of faithful servants to the Dominion, and many more droid workers beyond them. The importance of the vessel in the religious faith of the Dominion has been focused on, and news outlets across their homeworld tell of the mighty symbol of He Who Speaks Truth, Typhojem. When not on active combat duty, or territorial patrols, the Arcanius serves as a site for pilgrims from across Dominion space. Within the vessel, they visit the temples that dot the superstructure of the vessel, and may even be present for a sermon from the Shaman Kathal.
Another, darker purpose exists for the ship as well. In his study of living souls, Kathal has come to understand the danger of experimenting on them, following the death of several support staff. Hidden deep inside the vessel, and protected at all times by his personal bodyguards, the experimentation chambers Kathal has had built serve as his testing ground for the creations he seeks to build in the name of the Dominion. The cries of the unlucky the song of progress. The few who go near enough to the hidden chambers to hear these cries do their best to ignore them.
