Classification: | Corporate Headquarters |
Location: | The Astraeus |
Affiliation: | Amelia von Sorenn |
Von Sorenn Industries | |
Confederacy of Independent Systems |
Accessibility |
The Argentum Nexus is located on the mobile deep-space facility known as the Astraeus - beyond the station's capability of relocating around the galaxy as needed - it is relatively easy to find the corporate headquarters of Von Sorenn Industries. The Nexus itself is well protected, maintaining private security and multiple internal and external security features. While the facility is open to the public - specific locations, are off-limits to those without an appointment, and, as is the case in many similar structures, there are entire sections that are labeled as 'employees only', preventing the public - and even those with appointments - from entering these areas without proper authorization or escort. |
Description |
A large pyramidal structure that terminates in a flat top rather than a point - its sides are finished to a shimmering sheen that causes the structure to appear as though it is made of platinum and silver, lending to its name. Multiple lights denote various levels from an external perspective, though do not permit true knowledge on just how many internal floors or structural divisions there are within. The uppermost levels, nearest the flat-top of the pyramid, consists of an extensive, private hangar bay - while a stylized black and white symbol of the corporation is emblazoned on the facade of the pyramid, the most prominent of which is located on its eastern-facing side. |
POINTS OF INTEREST |
Amelia Von Sorenn's Office - Situated in the upper-most portions of the Argentum Nexus, and with access to a smaller more private hangar bay - the office provides a commanding view of the interior of the habitation dome that the Nexus itself resides within. Nearest to the window is a large desk carefully crafted from a singular piece of obsidian with much of the flooring made of either marble or polished basalt. Sitting areas are arranged to either side of the room, with a series of terrariums and planters lining the wall [each filled with a myriad of flora and fauna from various planets of the Confederacy of Independent Systems]. Vaulted ceilings provide an additional feeling of open space to avoid the office from feeling cramped - with two separate doors leading out of the office at the far end nearest to the desk [with one leading to a stairwell that accesses the private Hangar Bay and the other leading to a private residence]. Various trinkets and personal effects are held in a series of crystalline display cases, while the office also provides a number of amenities and creature comforts. |
Executive Offices - Commanding much of the upper levels beneath the highest floors is a series of executive offices and minor private residences that cater to those individuals in the upper management of Von Sorenn Industries. Likewise, these Executive Offices also house a number of the director and executives for the subsidiaries of Von Sorenn Industries - ensuring that much of the upper management for the entirety of the corporation is easily within reach when needed. Many of the offices are stark and bare - with minimal needs beyond a simple desk, chairs, and other commonly available amenities. Likewise, it is not uncommon for those that reside in these offices and the adjoining private residences to bring in their own personal effects and creature comforts to make the spaces their own. |
Work Stations - Much of the structure is devoted to these smaller offices, cubicles, and open floor plans that house a multitude of smaller work stations - with some of these floors also having smaller private residences for the middle and lower management of the corporation to reside in from time to time as needed. These areas are often laid out in an open floor plan - with only structural beams taking up some of the space - while some of the exterior facing walls and corners have some form of window or reinforced glass panes to provide a view of the habitation dome and surrounding area around the Nexus. Each work station is provided certain liberties to the individual that occupies the station, with appropriate amenities and personal effects permitted to decorate a station, ensuring that no two stations are exactly the same. |
Hangar Bay 5A-5 Control - A secure section of the Nexus near Hangar Bay 5A-5 - this location maintains a number of important and vital systems as well as maintaining the security of the private hangar bay in question. From this location they are capable of monitoring all traffic approaching or otherwise exiting the Nexus - as well as take control of smaller vessels if the need arises - or, in more dire circumstances, operate a series of Tractor Beam Projectors to assist in the safe landing of a vessel or to prevent its approach to keep the hangar bay secure. Though much of the sector has an open floor plan, it is dotted with a number of cylindrical control stations, each maintaining its own specific systems and controls. |
Hangar Bay 5A-5 - The private, corporate use only, hangar bay of the Nexus - located just beneath the floors that are dominated by the Executive Offices - the Hangar Bay provides a private means of entering and exiting the Nexus, though this privilege is reserved only for specific individuals and their handpicked staff, rather than allowing just any individual access to the location. However, its capabilities are limited, as the bay can only properly accommodate personal craft no larger than 100m in length [in any given direction]. At any given time, Hangar Bay 5A-5 also maintains its own personal security unit; their only directive being the security of the Hangar Bay. |
Main Atrium - Upon entering the ground level of the Nexus, individuals are greeted by a large and open section of the building with a vast vaulted ceiling [with walkways connecting the upper levels clearly visible]. This section is dominated by two separate sectors on either side, that being a large information desk on the right-hand side at the top of the first set of stairs - and on the left, a security desk and command office just before the elevators. In the center of the Main Atrium are the elevators that service much of the building - with individuals being provided access to only certain levels based on their security clearance or their visitor status. Two sets of stairs that flank either side of the elevators lead up the floor above which are comprised mainly of workstations, and minor management offices, as well as basic storage lockers, and other such mundane areas. |
Executive Lobby - A much grander spectacle than the mundane and common appearance of the Main Atrium - the Executive Lobby hosts a number of amenities to keep respected guests, executives, and other important individuals relaxed and agreeable. This area maintains a smaller security and informational area just within an arms reach of the elevators - with a set of stairs on either side leading up further into a handful of the executive offices. Lounges, live flora, and a Cafe round out the notable amenities in the lobby. |
Security - Consolidated on a number of the lower levels, the primary offices, locker rooms, and support services and infrastructure ensure that any threat within the building itself can be properly dealt with in a timely manner and with any level of force as required. This can be one or two officers escorting out a disgruntled employee to prevent damage to the property - to a fully trained fire team assisting in securing the facility from an external or internal assault. Likewise, a number of the internal security protocols and systems are controlled from the terminals in this location. |
Central Mainframe - Buried within the heart of the Argentum Nexus is the massive databanks of information pertaining to all corporations that fall beneath the umbrella of Von Sorenn Industries. All of the data, information, blueprints, and any other number of sensitive information that is linked to these corporations can be found here, safely stored away and hidden from the prying eyes of the galaxy. At any hour there is a fully armed security team as well as a number of slicers and computer technicians to ensure that there are no external or internal breaches of any kind. Entry to this location is highly regulated - and as such - many of those that work in this section also live in the adjoining residential sector that was constructed specifically for those individuals hired to work in the Central Mainframe. |
