Not So Lucky
"It's a gift from our princess. I had to pull quite a few strings just to get this on the table, but as it turns out, nobody was really doing anything with it—it was just going to end up as scrap elsewhere. I started the ball rolling, but it was Leia who really made it happen. Her and Evaan."
―Teven Gale explains how the Alderaan Flotilla came to possess the wreckage of the Death Star

- Description: [The Ascension was a massive space station built hundreds of years ago to house the dispersed peoples of Alderaan after their planet was destroyed and the Empire fell. Maintaining much of the shape of the original Death Star, it was mostly round in shape originally with parts and sections of ships donated to the Alderaanian Refugee fleet gradually added to the hull in order to fill in gaps and system power requirements throughout the station. The result was an enclosed dome northern section, a semi-enclosed shipyard and construction area to the south pole, and various buildings and ships constructed into a minor city connected by a series of tubes for trams and the like. The station was more than large enough to house the small remaining population of the Alderaanian people. Inside it was very much its own minor city with some areas provided with synthetic sunlight and full day-night cycles. Gardens and buildings were scattered throughout certain areas and it had its own air traffic.
Skywalker Gardens
The Skywalker Gardens were located just outside of the main spaceport and docking bays of Ascension. They are a beautiful collection of Alderaanian flowers and plants as well as exotic species from across the Galaxy. A statue of the ancient hero Leia Organa-Solo with a lightsaber on her belt was placed in the center of the garden.
Organa-Solo Park
Organa-Solo Park was a large plot of land, hundreds of square kilometers large, covered in rolling hills, a small artificial mountain range, rivers, lakes and the like. It has been considered a Galactic Sanctuary in the past due to the land once being the main location of Alderaanian flora and fauna restoration. The Right to Roam was given to Alderaanians and people of Alderaanian descent, allowing them to camp largely anywhere they wished on the land. Some of the New-Nobles owned land on the park.
Tristan Antillies College of the Arts
Named for the surviving member of the Antillies Noble Family after the destruction of Alderaan, Tristan Antilles College of the Arts was one of the best colleges to study traditional Alderaanian art. Its galleries are still well renowned to this day.
Alderaan Prime University
A large university campus near the center of the station's internal city-scape, Alderaan Prime University was the replacement university for the University of Alderaan. While the latter has returned and become a force in Academia, it is still considered prestigious to graduate from Alderaan Prime University.
SECURITY: Medium
The station is defended by Alderaanian Security forces, but with it not being a military target it is patroled moderately to ward off smugglers and would be raiders.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
"What act of terror could be more horrible than what happened to Alderaan? Have you forgotten that? I was there. I saw it happen, stood there watching while they destroyed my world, my home, everyone I had ever loved—"
―Senator Leia Organa, to Senator Ransolm Casterfo
The destruction of Alderaan in 0BBY was one of the most horrific losses of life in the history of the Galaxy and set in motion events that would change the face of the stars forever. Afterward, the hole left in the Galactic community would be felt for decades, if not centuries, its people doomed to forever wander the Galaxy as a diaspora of peoples or float in space among the Alderaanian Flotilla, a collection of gifted ships for the survivors of Alderaan to use in order to come together in their time of need. However, with the actions of legendary Rebel hero, Leia Organa-Solo and the help of several others the Alderaanina people were able to come together, stronger than ever.
Constructed over the course of a decade, Ascension was a massive space station constructed from the remnants of the Death Star, built in order to house the surviving peoples of the Alderaanian Diaspora. The project was led by the new Alderaanian Council which was made up of mostly commoners as many noble houses were killed in the destruction of their homeworld. Upon its completion the founding members of Ascension, those members of this new Alderaanian Council, elected to have Leia return as Queen. Unfortunately, the politician declined the offer, preferring to stay in the senate representing the group and other interests of Democracy. As a result, Regent Administrator became Lord Regent and the members of the council formed a new Noble House class.
The station would continue to serve as the new homeworld of the Alderaanina people with the station providing more than ample space for internal gardens, forests, and other artificial forms of life that had once been native to Alderaan with the help of scientists and historians from across the Galaxy. The station grew over time to encompass not only the spherical structure but also an attached and well-developed cityscape. When the new Galactic Alliance alongside the Vong and Omni began to restore destroyed or desolated planets, Alderaan was one of the first on the list and with the help of the careful cultivation of Alderaanina native plants on Ascension, they were able to successfully restore the world. Subsequently millions flocked back to the homeworld to stake their claim on new land. Distant relatives of the original Noble Houses and royalty claimed many places that were similar to their old ancestral lands while many of the New-Nobles opted to stay on Ascension. With the large reduction in lived-in area, the lower hemisphere was modified into an industrial and trade hub, giving Alderaan its own serviceable shipyards and offering this Neo-Alderaanina culture the economic capitol to advance and reclaim the glory of the old days.
