, Elise Solsteel IC Hierarchy: The Ashlan Crusade is an army with a state. It is led by Cedric Grayson, officially the King of Ession, and Grandmaster of the Crusade. Heinrich Faust serves as his chief lieutenant. The worlds the Crusade currently holds dominion over are administered directly by the Grandmaster in a form of paternal autocracy. All executive power lies in the hands of the Grandmaster. The only thing that checks his power is the will of God, or the Ashla as the masses know her.

Description: The Ashlan Crusade is a conglomeration of warbands, churches, Jedi, and political exiles. After the transformation of the Grayson Imperium into the Galactic Alliance, the followers of the Ashlan faith found themselves marginalized and more or less powerless in the new political system. The church's influence waned as funding dried up, and any hopes for a restoration of the monarchy were dashed as their particular party was banned from political discourse. Disgruntled and unrepresented, the Ashlan priests utilized their extensive influence to call for a return to the holy land: a crusade against the forces of darkness to restore the the rule of God to the birthplace of the Ashlan faith. Their followers responded emphatically, rallying behind the faith's most zealous adherent, Cedric Grayson, in hopes of driving the forces of decadence from their ancestral homeland of Ession. With hopes of establishing a theocratic state within the ruins of their old empire, the Ashlans embark for the Tingel Arm with an army of zealots at their command. The faithful will either reclaim their ancestral lands, or die trying.
The Pitch: We are attempting to create a faction built entirely around a custom religion, with themes revolving around the Jedi Lords of Legends, and more particularly the Army of Light. Zealots aligned wholly with the Light Side of the Force, the Ashlans serve as a unique anti-hero faction. While they claim to higher ideals, their fanaticism can justify virtually any action, creating a morally complex nation that, while on the surface is 'good', can serve as both hero and villain to any group. We also intend to stray closer toward a more feudal structure, mixing the traditional themes of Star Wars with heavier fantasy influences, as well as allowing for the political intrigue associated with courtly politics.
