The gates creaked open with a heavy shift, the hinges crackling a little as they pushed open. As the gates revealed a large compound, overgrown with lush plants everywhere one looked, a sense of awe may have washed over the small group. This place was a canvas of vibrant colors and intricate details, reminiscent of a meticulously manicured garden in its ornate and opulent design. Wildflowers bloomed in a riot of hues, their delicate petals swaying gently in the breeze, while ornamental trees twisted and curved in graceful arcs, their branches adorned with lanterns and hanging wind chimes.
Nestled within the embrace of the foliage stood a massive building, its architecture a blend of traditional elegance and modern innovation. The structure seemed to meld seamlessly with the natural surroundings, its walls adorned with intricate carvings and ornate embellishments. Long willowy purple flowers cascaded from the branches of the biggest tree, under which the building seemed to rest, almost as if it were a grand fortress hidden within a forest.
No one came to greet the small group as they entered the courtyard. The building appeared covered in moss and algae, a sure mark to the passage of time. Large statues of long serpentine creatures flanked the steps, their scales glinting in the dappled sunlight. Beyond the stairs, a set of grand doors stood sentinel, their surfaces carved with intricate patterns and symbols that seemed to glimmer in the shifting light.
Two tall figures guarded the entrance, their forms resembling important figures from a forgotten era. The first statue, depicting a warrior with distinct head-tails and montrails, stood proud and defiant, her adornments glistening in the sunlight. The second statue, resembling a noble figure, exuded an air of authority and grace, his features chiseled and regal.
"Well, the gates look open," Braze chirped happily as he padded after Shan, his curiosity piqued by the mysterious surroundings.
"Yeah, it kinda looks like a castle, I suppose? Or a fortification... there are watchtowers on the big walls and spread about," Braze commented, trying to describe things as best he could to Ko.
"Everything looks so... flowery."
As they ventured further into the compound, Braze's eyes fell upon the pregnant woman,
"Hello, Miss," he greeted warmly.
"Do you know who might have lived here? Or who lives here now?" He couldn't help but wonder what had brought her so far into the woods, her presence adding to the enigma of the place.
As they ventured further into the compound, Loomi's keen eye caught a flickering glimmer of light in the highest room of a section of the building nestled amidst the towering treetops. The light, a haunting shade of blue-green, danced eerily behind the window, casting eerie shadows that seemed to sway and shift with a mind of their own.
Loomi couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched, that unseen eyes followed their every move from the depths of the forest.
As Shan wanders through the compound, his footsteps echoing softly against the moss-covered stones, he stumbles upon a forgotten garden tucked away behind a tangle of vines. Here, amidst the overgrown foliage, he discovers a weathered stone bench bathed in dappled sunlight. The air is heavy with the scent of wildflowers.
As he approaches the bench, Shan notices a delicate butterfly flitting from flower to flower, its wings shimmering in the sunlight.
