Intent: A modular node suitable for plugging into an Aurek Socket on certain iBorg neural implants, such as the Clarity.
Development Thread: No
Manufacturer: iBorg
Model: Aurek Gatebreaker Field Disruption Node
Affiliation: Select customers
Modularity: It's a module.
Production: Minor
Material: Electronics, desh-terenthium, insulated with high-grade nullification resin (optional).
Description: The Gatebreaker is a modular node suitable for the Aurek Socket which is found on some iBorg neural implants. Its primary function is to serve as an individual field disruptor.
(+/-) Individual field disruptors are intended to allow the wearer to walk through very powerful energy shields without harm. This top-of-the-line model is capable of allowing the wearer to pass through ray/particle/deflector/etc. fields. It is strongly recommended that the wearer minimize contact with the shield. Anything longer than 10-30 seconds, depending on shield strength, will burn out the field disruptor and cause serious harm.
(+/-) As a secondary effect, touching the wearer while the node is active will incur a nasty little burn. This means that carrying people or large items through shields is out of the question.
(-) While the Gatebreaker node is active, the wearer cannot use personal shielding or personal cloaking devices.
(-) The Gatebreaker node is something of a raw application of the technology, and the process of walking through a shield is quite visible -- 'a bit of a light show,' as some operators say. Its use can also be detected by shield operators.
(+) Additionally, the Aurek Node contains a 2km-range sensor specialized for shield detection.
(+) As with all Aurek Nodes, the Gatebreaker can be insulated against most Force interference via a layer of high-grade nullification resin. This insulation is optional, as it has been known to interfere with a Force-sensitive wearer's extrasensory perception.
(+/-) The Gatekeeper is vulnerable to ion/EMP damage, but will reboot within a minute, a good bit slower than some military-grade hardware.
Primary Source: Major precedents: Individual field disruptor, Evasive-13, Evasive-226R, Peregrine field disruptor
