- Quite quick and nimble.
- A couple of nasty dual light turbolaser turrets.
- Gigantic closet full of capes for every occasion.
- Excellent field of view out the front bubble.
- The front is a bubble. As with any VCX-100, run into anything face-first, and the cockpit just plain will not survive.
- You'd think that would have led previous owners to install particle shields or even anticoncussion fields. They did - and then promptly destroyed said shields by running into things. The particle shields are inoperable, irreplaceable, and impossible to remove. They are currently home to a polite family of mole-fleas. The anticoncussion field is deeply unreliable; flip a coin for its odds of protecting you from a collision.
The Ball and Chain is a highly customized Corellian freighter that Jerec Asyr acquired through his associate Muk Moadda. It has no recorded provenance and a few filed-off serial numbers. Aesthetically, though it began life as a VCX-100, its engines are completely aftermarket. 'Aftermarket' may be too polite a term. Someone stripped out the original engine block and replaced it with the engines of a Gozanti-class cruiser. Big engines plus small ship equals fast.
A colony of minuscule, sapient mole-fleas lives in the ruined particle shield generator. They are excellent long-term residents, willing to help with small repairs.
