The Bandits at Dawn (Mandos/Open)

Concord Dawn. Farms in the out land were ablaze, burning to the ground. Smoke filled the early morning hanging in clouds over the country side. The recent devastation of the Mandalorian Empire by the Deathwatch as well as the Primevil had spread the warriors of Mandalore thin, allowing brigands and thieves to sneak into their space. They were fragile, on the brink, but they were rebuilding.
Word had come down to the Council of Clans of the debauchery and slaughter taking place upon the farming moon. Bandit hordes lead by Deathwatch commanders were rampaging over the farms in the countryside. They were looting, and pillaging, taking out a vital source of economy. It had to be stopped and the attacks had to be avenged.
Vassara had been dispatched, the newest member of the Red Legion. They were just outside the city limits, camped out in a field. She had a squadron of four Legionaires and a few of her Vode whom had signed on. As the fields burned she stood atop the armored landspeeder they had procured, black jacket waving in the wind behind her, taking in the devastation.
The time had come to rally the militia and fight back.
She turned to the Legoinaires, and her companions, drawing her Czerka fighting knife.
"This is it folks. If ever there was a time to honor your ancestors it's now. This is almost a suicide mission, which is why I have been chosen to lead it. You may not like a force using leader, but I promise you, if we can do this, we can do anything. Lets show the Deathwatch and the bandits how the Mandalorians deal with treachery!"

Kiber was shocked by what he saw; utter destruction. Crops were burning, buildings had been destroyed and the bandits didn't give a damn about it. He checked his ammunition; the small green disruptor balls dealt severe damage to anyone who was in the way. Loading his rifle, it was time to show these bandits, and the Deathwatch, that they had no place on Mandalore and would pay for their treachery with blood.

Savages, this was what they were. There was nothing honerable about this, slaughtering farmers, destyoying their livelihoods. A grwol rose from blight's throat as she surveyed the landscape, catching sight of the perpetrators in the distance. She did not halt, did not pause as she begann jogging down toward them, seeing the one or other mandalorian following her. Revenge was calling

"Hold on! Wait!" Kiber whispered, as he stuck close behind Blight. The perpetrators were having fun taunting the farmer and his family. "I know this makes you as angry as I do, but do you have a plan of action or are you going in guns blazing?!!" life as a bounty hunter had shown Kiber that having a plan was a good way to avoid getting yourself killed and to rein in thoughts of acting the hero.

"And shouldn't we wait for Vassara and the others?" he whispered once again, as he took cover behind an upturned cart. From here he was afforded a good all-round view of the situation and prayed that Vassara was right behind him.

Blight growled as she was dragged into cover "These are cowards. Let them face a real Warrior, they will fall before me, like wheat to the scythe. They will not escape" She said grimly. Gone was the perviously jovial and light hearted medic, what was left was barely controlled rage, less a Human being and more of a barely directible weapon

She peared out from behind the cart and sent several shots down range with her carbine, scoring a precise kill

"Damn it!" Kiber exclaimed, as he raised his blaster rifle, affixed the silencer on the barrel and looked through the scope at one of the bandits; he was completely unaware of the bounty hunter. Taking a deep breath, he focused and pulled the trigger in one smooth movement.

The disruptor balls left the rifle and headed towards the bandit; they scored a direct hit and he fell like the proverbial sack of potatoes. Looking over at Blight, he could see that she was zoned out to everything around her and solely focused on killing.

With the loud reply of her Carbine several more shots went flying down range Blight rose and dashed forward, to a nearer piece of cover to where the bandits were. These bandits, murdered mocked and stole the hope these people had scraped out for themselves. Such was unforgiveable she had decided as she coldly gunned them down one by one, little else mattered

"Vassara, Kiber here. We have begun the operation much earlier than planned..." he said into his comlink to Vassara, hoping she would receive the message and join him in the battle.

"Not again!" he sighed, following close behind Blight and slid into cover next to her. He let off another shot and caught a bandit in between his eyes; he fell down onto the dirt, his life force escaping from the head wound and pooling beneath his body.

There was a group of the farmers up ahead, they appeared dead, or injured at the least, getting to them was Blight's goal. But first the bandits had to be cleared out, or at least pushed back far enough so she could risk rushing to them. A hundread meters away now...Sixty....Fifty....Twenty, the fighting thickening with every step they took forward.

Finally closed enough Ashtah broke away from cover and dashed to the injured family. A mother and her son and they appeared to have caught a bad case of shrapnel lodged into them. She grabbed the son and slung him over her shoulder carefully, while dragging the woman back toward cover by her dress, before she pulled the tools of her trade from her medic's kit and got to work, stabilizing the two of them as best she could in the war torn enviorment

Kiber provided cover as Blight tended to the mother and son. He lay down suppressing fire, keeping the bandits at bay for the time being. The next round caught a bandit square in the back of his head; he fell headfirst into the stalks of corn and his blood trickled out onto the dirt.

"Hurry up will you Blight?! Those bandits might come back in force any second now!!" he shouted over his shoulder to her, watching her tend to the family with care and attention. The cover was perfect for the time being, but they could be cut off from the others at any time.

Hurry Vassara, I don't know if I can hold them off by myself for much longer!

[member="Kiber Thaxton"]

"Working as fast as I can" She snapped right back. No time for subtlety, broad bindings, fix the vital wounds. Tear, cut, sow, stabilise. Pop out once to discourage the bandit from moving toward you, stitch, splint, stabilize.

She looked up over the slowly reassembling bandits, seeing them about to charge. She had stabilized the family enough to rejoin the battle. "Kiber, clothes your eyes, and get to cover" She said, putting a hand on his shoulder and lowering him into cover, before she, reached into her other satchel. "This is going to sting. Hettir gar aruetiise! " She shouted, as she threw the bundle of thermal grenades at them. The strung up grenades split up mid throw, scattering between their ranks before enveloping them in a hellisgh inferno of flames. The fields were already ash, this wouldn't damage them further.

She had held back, allowing a handfull of the Legionaires into the battlespace with the two companions. As Ashta and Kiber raged through the bandits, they drew even more attention. No doubt one of them had chimed into the reinforcements, hwerever they were. Vassara herself was crouched, in a type of meditation. Except it wasn't pure Jedi anymore. Instead she drew the force around her, letting her mind become clear, and channeled it into one singular purpose. To augment her fighting capability.

She would not draw her saber. She was the saber.

"The time is now."

"Vode we got troube, looks like a flanking force coming in from the south. One in Beskar'Gam, the others in leather?"

"Deathwatch," She growled. Her eyes snapped open, a red rage descending upon her vision. The knife whirled twice in her hand and she rose to her full height, pointing down towards the farm.

"First squadron flank left, second right, come out from the fields and crush them. The rest of you sorry sap are with me, let's mow them down! Oya!"

"Oya!"

The battle cry rang over the files just as explosions sent a frsh spiral of thick acrid smoke up from near the farmhouse. Vassara charged, her own swuadron close in tow. Their armor clanked, silver metallic plates shifting underneath their red capes. Death was coming, and it's name was the Legion!

Mere seconds later they crashed down the main road, Vassara in the lead. Her leg musccles grew taught and then she sprang leaping almost ten feet into the air, coming down boots first into the skull of the nearest bandit. Both feet spread shoulder length and her body slid into a crouch. The blade whirled, her elbow shot out cathing on bandit on the chin, cracking his neck with the sound of gunshot.

The Legion was close behind, alying into the surpirsed bandits with their swords, fogoing the carbines. The small sqaurdon hacked and slashed, spilling guts, and severing limbs from their owners. They carved a clean path of destruction behind the wild woman.

"Kiber, Ashta, get in the Silo! Incoming reinforcements from the South!"

The fighting knife flipped, and she delivered a punch straight into the nearest bandits face. It flipped again in her palm, and savage backhand slice across her body opened a gash through his cheap armor.

"Legionaires! Phalanx, square formation!"

Kiber was relieved to see Vassara leading the charge to the farm. He grabbed Blight and pointed to the silo. "Come on! Let's go!!!" he let off a few more rounds from his rifle, dropping three more bandits before he forced his way in. Hopefully this would give them a bit more protection from the enemy. Peering out from behind the open inspection hatch, he watched as the battle raged all around. Affixing a 8x scope to his rifle, the bounty hunter lined up on a bandit who was savagely beating the farmer in a moment of sick and twisted enjoyment.

All tickets in please - the next stop is Hell...

The Mandalorian's black and silver armour had seen much better days, but was fit for the job at hand. A bandit sniper saw the sun bouncing off of Kiber's shoulder guard, but in the space of three seconds, a disruptor ball entered his right eye and exploded inside his brain, sending pieces of grey matter everywhere. Reloading, Kiber took aim once more and breathed in deeply. Pulling the trigger with the lightest of touches, another ball left the barrel and went right through a bandit's hand, entering his palm and exiting out of his wrist. He began to roll around in pure agony, so Kiber did the merciful thing and took a headshot, right between the bandit's eyes. He stopped screaming and his life began to trickle away.

Location: The Farm
Objective: Kill the Deathwatch, Clear the farm.

The Legionaires fell into a square. Weapons all ablaze as they flashed in the sunlight of the dawn. Blood watered the field of Concord Dawn. In the Battle lines Vassar stood shoulder to shoulder with them as they pushed out, expanding the square and slowly pushing back the onslaught. They were tough fighters, she dodged left, whipping her head away as a strike came in.

Hand to hand was grueling and intensive. The second punch caught her gut and she bowed backwards, feeling air forced from her lungs. She stood for a second dazed, before her own hand whipped her blade with excessive force across her body again, slicing the gap between the helmet and the chestpiece. Crimson blood spurted from the wound and the little oxygen she gained went into a savage kick. The Deathwatch soldier tumbled backwards, clutching his throat and she stepped over him, advancing.

All across the field the bandits began to route. They fled in terror just as the Deathwatch reinforcements roared into the square. Kiber was laying down good shots, but not fast enough. Thirty armored figures charged the Legionaires, now exposed on open ground. Vassar cursed as they whizzed by, trying to crouch low. A slash to her leg opened a fresh stream of blood, knocking through her thin leather pants.

Deathwatch cavalry turned and came in for a second pass. Wincing from the pain in her leg she turned to face them calling across the square.

"Firing line, form up!"

They fell into a wedge quick like lightning. As the cavalry charged again they were met. Blasters went up, Vassara raised her own Verpine shattergun, clutching it with trembling hands as her leg gave out. She fell onto one knee. Blaster bolts peppered the air, sailing past her head. The Shatter gun bucked and kicked, sending high velocity projectiles into the fans of two speeder bike engines. They exploded in a ball of flame crashing into the dirt and rolling end over end. Debris rolled and bounced blazing its way into the formation. Two Legionaires were crushed and carried off as if by cannonball.

She was flat one her face now, still firing as the second and thrid ruders tried to peel off, avoiding the wreckage. Two more shots busted into the back of the second rider, denting his Beskar'Gam and throwing him clear of the bike as it swerved into his comrade. Deathwatch began to drop like flied, mowed down as they ran. Blood and dirt made a disgusting mixture in her mouth. This was as far from the graceful combat of the Jedi as you could get.
Both black gloved hands pushed up, shoving her into standing position. Speeder bikes ripped through the fields blazing trails through the tall crops.

"They're retreating!"

"No they're not, they're regrouping. Round up the civilians that are left and set up triage in the farmhouse. Everyone else fan out and search the bodies. Give me five over watch, take the second level of the house and cover us."

"Got it. Alright Legion, move out!"

She glanced down at her wound, jaw clenching as the blood trickled from it. The Verpine shatter gun slid back into its holster and her hand slapped the wound, applying pressure.

Then she looked up to Kiber in the tower, giving him a nod...

Kiber returned the nod and jumped down from the silo, and he took four Legionnaires with him into the farmhouse. From the upstairs rooms, they would have a complete 360-degree field of view and being armed with sniper rifles, could pick off the Death Watch and bandits from at least a mile away. "You four, go upstairs and take positions in the bedrooms and the bathroom," they nodded and made their way upstairs to their chosen positions. Kiber took that last position, looking out across the cornfields. His scanner was working overtime, as well as his heat seeker and thermal imaging systems, trying to locate the enemy. "I dare you to try again..." he muttered to himself, as he propped his rifle up on the windowsill and looked through the telescopic sight, scanning the horizon for any sign of the enemy coming back in numbers.

"The farmhouse is secure now Vassara. We are beginning over watch for you now," Kiber said over his comlink.

Ashtah rose from the two stabilized farmers, looking around, carnage was everywhere but things were slowly turning in favor of the Mandalorians. The deathwatch was being drivan back step by painful step. Ashtah looked around and spotted her next subject, the Mandalorian legionary she had met some days ago. She crossed the battlefield toward her, already mentally anayling the wound and how to best treat it to get Vassara back into the fight.

"Get down...and sit tight i'm going to get you looked at real quick" She said to Vassara, urging her toward cover. Once there she set to work, stiching, disinfecting and binding the wound before slapping her on the back

"Allright...You should be fine but watch yourself, I'm heading to the farmhouse to see what I can do" She explained before popping out of cover to send a few more bolts down range toward the retreating deathwatch/

Deeming it safe she rose again and made a break for the farmhouse

[member="Kiber Thaxton"] [member="Ashtah Ordo"]

Ashtah had done a good job. Vassara still stood in the field as the Legionaires rushed about, searching the bodies of the Deathwatch. The wounded farmers were brought inside and laid upon the floor of the farmhouse. A few medics went to work, treating blaster burns and cuts. There was a few that had been killed before they had arrived. Loss of life was regrettable. As she gazed upon the dead she felt her heart sink a notch. This is what it had come to. Wanton slaughter.

The dark was thick here, tugging at her. Emotions welled up and she was torn. Between giving into her passion or maintaining a full head about her. The traditions of the Jedi were all broken, and had been broken for some time.

"Ma'am."

Vassara jumped grabbing her leg in pain again as the Commander spoke.

"Yes Titus?"

"We found this on one of the Captains. Looks like they have a cell set up near here at the old Hokan farmstead, due south."

The datapad was badly mangled. She reached out to take it from him and scan over it. It was true as ever. It seemed the Deathwatch had been conducting raids from that one particular location. Hokans. A clan that left a sour taste in her mouth, known for their consorting with the Kyr'stad.

"Alright, round up what warriors we left. Lets clean this place up. Instruct the others to meet me in the atrium."

She strode off, and stepped through the door of the farmhouse. The smell of brunt flesh and the moans of the dying rang out across the wooden building. She had to block it out, to focus. The datapad went down on the small dining table and she leaned upon it, both hands planted firm on the oak and head hung from exhaustion....

Cloudburner

Perfection in human form.
"Sorry, I'm late. Whoa.....

This place is messed up. What can I do to help out [member="Vassara Raxis"]?"

The shocked Mandalorian just stood there in disgust. But was still willing to serve his faction and do them proud.

Kiber heard the sound of someone opening the front door, so he temporarily left his position, and he went to the top of the stairs to see who it was. "Glad you could join us Ashtah," the Mandalorian said with relief. He beckoned her up the stairs and told her to take his position and that he would rotate between all five, making sure they had not missed anything. "Vassara, we've got another doing over-watch for you. Ashtash is with me now, and she will be taking my position overlooking the cornfields surrounding the farm," he said into his comlink.

The sound of the door opening again caught his attention, so Kiber made his way back downstairs and saw Vassara at the dining room table, holding a datapad. "Have you found out where they have come from?" he asked, as he looked her over; she was utterly exhausted. "You rest for a bit and I will go and help with the Legionnaires if you wish me to do so," Kiber said, with concern lacing his words.

[member="Vahn Fett"] [member="Kiber Thaxton"]

Another interruption. She glanced up ready to snap and caught the sight of a new Mando'ade. Fett by the markings on his armor. A small smile broke her tired face.

"Welcome to the fight Ner'Vod. I need scouts to go out and recon the Hokan farmstead. I have new intelligence that's where the Deathwatch are coming from. Once we clear the nest they'll get the picture and scatter like the cowards they are. Take two men with you and let me know what they have for troops and defenses."

Kibers suggestion seemed like a good idea. She wanted to rest, wanted to shrink back into a ball away from all the death and carnage. But now was not that time. She could rest when she was dead. She looked to the trusted Mando'ade and slapped her hand on his shoulder.

"Kiber ner'vod, their is no time to rest. If we falter we lose the element of surprise. I need warriors, round up whatever Mando'ade warriors who can fight from the nearby farmsteads. Consolidate them here. I'll remain behind and await your return. Good hunting."

She turned back to the datapad, handing it off to the Fett.

"Location is on here. You can take a speeder bike if you wish."

Then she was gone, moving to kneel by the side of the fallen and wounded. There was one last task to be done before the coming battle. To tend the wounded. Vassara herself had had few experiences force healing, but she could manage. Both hands hovered above the wounds of the first farmer, a garish gash in his side. She slipped into the force, calming her mind, letting it speak to her.....
