The Skakoan was fully immersed in the bustling world of business, surrounded by a multitude of datapads and holographic projectors that suddenly came to life. The soft glow of the holographic displays illuminated the room, casting a warm and inviting light on the Skakoan's focused expression as they delved into the intricacies of their work.

Each datapad hummed softly as information about the InterGalactic Stock Exchange flowed seamlessly from one device to another, creating a seamless and efficient workflow for the Commanding Viceroy.

As armored eyes scanned the myriad of data, there were certainly unfavorable projections regarding the profitability of the Trade Federation, exemplified by the doubling of transportation and shipping costs due to the war in the core region, along with the uncertainty surrounding the ability of their merchant fleet to reach destinations safely.

It is essential for any astute capitalist to recognize that relying solely on a single trade agreement or portfolio is not advisable within the current economic market. Therefore, the Federation made the strategic decision to broaden its portfolio by venturing into a field with minimal competition.

Laborr had heard of the technology emerging from the NCBC Corporation around biomedicals and biomolecules, which would serve them well if they expanded into the medical market to compete with the Arceneau Trading Company, a close associate but still a rival on the corporate charts. It was highly probable that by enhancing the technology, they could dominate the stim market and supply combat drugs for the front lines of the Core War.

It would be illogical not to extend a warm hand to Liin Terallo Liin Terallo of the NCBC Board of Directors, to explain her company's advancements and medical research, and so she would be summoned to the Trade Federation Headquarters on Druckenwell. Upon reaching one of the executive suites within the massive complex, the Commanding Viceroy proceeded to address the individual after they had gained some privacy.

"Director Terallo, we have much to discuss." An introductory statement strategically crafted to captivate the attention of the Director, surpassing the impact of a mere greeting.

My first visit to Druckenwell has me a little excited. If not for the possibility of new contracts being made, but also due in part because I've taken to enjoy travelling. Although hyperspace can be the most dullest portion; it is the arrival to a new planet that fascinates me. Each one is different both in size and composition. I have read about many of them and watched plenty of holos, but there is nothing that compares to seeing them with one's own eyes. Perhaps in a past life I was once a spacer and adventurer. But not in this one.

It isn't long before we arrive to the spaceport and pass through security. I wonder how many of my own guards had to relay their credentials to the port. It is a question that I would never ask as they are below my pay grade. But that doesn't mean that I couldn't wonder.

I am escorted to the Trade Federation Headquarters and I must say that I am quite impressed. The sheer size of it displays the wealth and power that the trading conglomerate holds. How magnificant.

I spot the Viceroy in no time, having brushed up on him during my journey here. I dip my head in greeting and proceed to follow him to a more private location, knowing full well that I am both being guarded as well as watched. "Indeed we do, Viceroy. And I thank you for this invitation. I do hope that business is going well."

The Director of the NCBC Corporation was observed through armored goggles on the datapad as she made her way from the spaceport towards the Trade Federation Headquarters. This allowed for a thorough examination of the individual from a significant distance.

They were certainly a rising star within the world of corporate politics, but they had much to learn on how to conduct themselves in front of the bigger players on the board such as the Banking Clan and the Commerce Guild, who had been around for quite a considerable amount of time and had the resources to crush competition into the dirt.

She would need to nevigate through the intricate web of alliances and rivalries, realizing the importance of strategic decision-making and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders. Success in this cutthroat corporate enviroment required more than just blind ambition and talent, it also demanded a deep understanding of the complex dynamics at play and the ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances in order to pull ahead. It was uncertain whether the Viceroy had confidence in Miss Terallo's ability to thrive in the Big Leagues.

"Director Terallo, we appreciate the consideration, but there is no need for thanks. The Trade Federation closely monitors the activities of our competitors and partners in trade, and you happen to have peaked our interest given your research." The Skakoan explained to Liin Terallo Liin Terallo moving through the halls of the expansive tower, which seemed to rise further and further into the atmosphere of the planet.

Upon arriving at one of the secluded suites situated at the back of the complex, it became evident that the Viceroy had strategically chosen this location due to the presence of security drones and the low likelihood of unwanted bystanders passing by.

Should the Director fail to make a strong impression at any point in the conversation, there could potentially be some unfortunate incidents occurring. With a single gesture on the datapad, the pair gained access to the spacious suite adorned with intricate decorations and murals illustrating the achievements of the Trade Federation, including those of Director Gat Tambor, the organization's esteemed founder. She was led to a seat across from his own by a simple movement, while the Skakoan settled down onto it with care.

"Director Terallo, inform me of the recent developments of the NCBC Corporation admist the looming galactic conflict. As you have been informed, various corporations have begun aligning themselves with either the Imperials or the Alliance, as both factions seek essential resources for the Core War. Your biomolecules make you a particular powerful asset in such a war, as medicine is desperately needed." Laborr asked, wanting a straightforward response from the woman, on how the NCBC Corporation was conducting themselves given the spread of the Core War. She had a powerful market to corner if she could weaponize the biomolecules underneath her control.

I must admit that I prefer the seclusion, rather than being led to some general assembly. The fewer individuals present there are, the better chance of deeper discussions.

The room provided is very pleasant, and although I long to see the view, I refrain myself and instead take the offered seat. Personal curiosities must remain secondary to the needs of the Covie.

The Viceroy touches on the developing war that so far has remained fully away from New Cov. In fact, the planet and it's interests had been thoroughly ignored by those fighting on either side. For the most part I find that to be a good thing. On the other it was slightly bad for business. However New Cov had been invaded centuries ago from both sides, yet more often than not, it was in name only. The Covie knew how to harvest the biomolecules and we were left to continue to do so on our own. I wouldn't want to risk an even more violent invasion which could put the Covie at risk. So I must be very careful.

"Thus far, Viceroy, NCBC has not been approached by either side. So one could easily surmise that we remain independant at the present time. Our biomolecules cannot be synthesized, yet they are highly sustainable for an increase in demand. The biomolecule gels that we produce work faster and better than bacta. We have developed skin grafting techniques and advanced regrowing of limbs, even in humans. Disease and infections abound in war and over the years we have developed anti-bacterial medicines in various forms to treat patients quickly and efficiently."

There are other more military aspects of our products and research, such as the merging of biomolecules with metals. I wear one of the first experiments with it, my Covines Ring that I keep on my finger. This one was a handful of years old. Further advancements in the mixture have thus far proven to be very successful in both weaponry and ships and I was already in touch with a manufacturer to help with providing us with military products on a massive scale. But until that time that those products were more thoroughly tested, I was not about to shop them around just yet.

The Skakoan displayed patience as he awaited the response from the Director, showing a keen interest in whether the New Cov companies had been contacted by either the Alliance or the Imperials for their support in the Core War. Even regions beyond the area of direct conflict had to make arrangements to survive, with even the rather tranquil planet of Alderaan developing a substantial military presence in order to protect themselves from any planned Imperial offensive.

The expansion of the military sector had undeniably provided significant advantages to the Trade Federation, enabling them to produce a multitude of starships and advanced weaponry for the Galactic Alliance. Once the Director finally spoke, did the Skakoan's curisoity heighten as she explained in much detail about the biomolecules that her company was developing for the market. It seemed that they were much more efficient than bacta in healing wounds, and even combating diseases and infections on the battlefield.

Such an innovative medical solution would not only accelerate rapid healing, but also provide a level of protection against enemy chemical weaponry should the patients genes be slightly modified. One of the achievements highlighted was its ability to bind with metals, which piqued the interest of the Trade Federation, a group heavily dependent on the manufacturing of battle droids.

"The product shows promise in the interstellar market, but it is essential to investigate the cost of biomolecules in relation to Bacta. It would be impractical to allocate funds to a product that proves to be significantly pricier than its competitor even with all the advantages that you have noted." Laborr inquired about the cost-effectiveness of biomolecules compared to the popular Bacta in the market.

The curiosity stemmed from a desire to determine whether biomolecules could potentially offer a more economical alternative for consumers seeking alternative medical treatments and therefore bring in much more material wealth to the Trade Federation.

I give the Viceroy a small nod as he seemed pleased with what I had to say. But it was a little difficult to be certain whether or not that is the case given the lack of facial expression. There is much that he can hide which can only be beneficial for him.

"I can understand your concern," I reply to him, "and although biomolecules cost higher than bacta, our customers gain the satisfaction of increased discounts based upon the number of products purchased. The bigger the order, the larger the discount."

Biomolecules are also higher in value on their own, let alone when manufactured into something else. I know that well enough. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out and I am quite positive that the Viceroy knows this too. His previous statement stresses otherwise.

Yet I would not be at a loss should the Trade Federation not wish to purchase anything from NCBC. Afterall as the Viceroy had mentioned, there are plenty of other avenues to go down in this market. Most especially in the recent rises in conflict. I feel so very fortunate that we are not tied down to cater to only one side. In times of war both sides are losers. The Covie have always stayed out of such conflicts, for we have those of our own in relation to the dangerous plantlife that we share our world with. Yet we still manage to keep a balance without destroying everything. If only the rest of the Galaxy could follow such an ideal. It might keep the tensions low.

Director Terallo's comprehensive evaluation had successfully quenched the Skakoan's curiosity, revealing that the biomolecules created by the NCBC Corporation were expensive compared to standard bacta on the galactic exchange. Laborr briefly contemplated, taking a moment to gaze intently at the woman seated opposite him, carefully observing every subtle movement of her body and the gentle flicker of her eyes as they roamed. Despite the higher price of the product, it was balanced out by the significant discounts she was prepared to provide to customers buying in bulk.

If a standard biomolecule were to be priced at a ratio of 10 to 1 compared to standardized bacta, it could theoretically be more economical to procure an entire supply of biomolecules rather than purchasing each crate individually. Therefore anyone with even the most basic of financial knowledge could understand that entering into a contract with the NCBC Corporation to provide a steady supply of biomolecules in exchange for a huge grant in funding and personal technological support was the most sound decision that the company could take.

"AWERORORORORO...The Trade Federation is keen to propose a contractual arrangement with NCBC Corporation for the production of biomolecules. We propose acquiring a consistent supply at a significantly reduced rate, equivalent to one-third of the prevailing market price. In return, we offer a generous financial grant aimed at advancing your corporation's research and development efforts to innovate and refine biomolecular variants." The Skakoan elucidated, while the pressure suit mechanisms emitted hissing and squealing sounds as armored fingers manipulated the voice modulator, in order to enhance the clarity of his speech. Despite offering only one-third percentage of the value of biomolecules, they were granting assistance to resolve the outstanding debt.

I listen carefully to the Viceroy as he proceeds to propose an offer. On the surface it sounds quite fair. On the one hand the Trade Federation is asking for biomolecules at one-third of the price, which is in and of itself, not exactly a fair bargain. Yet in trade they offer financial grants of an undetermined size. I can only assume that such funds add up to the remaining two-thirds or close there-to.

At face value the proposal seems to be both equitable and fair. However I have come to learn that there is always a catch and always fine print to be read. Today may be no different. Afterall the Trade Federation is not our only customer. And unless some kind of hostile takeover happens, they never will be.

"That is a fair start, Viceroy. However I must ask if there are any specific terms attached to ypur proposal? How much do you require for this steady supply? A certain percentage of our daily output? Or some other measurement?" There are some seasons when the production is higher than others. Surely the Viceroy is aware of this as he would for any agricultural resource. "How long do you propose the contract be binding before it's renewal?"

I maintain my straight posture, being sure not to become rigid while I embolden my stance. "I do propose that the research and development NCBC conducts that is partially funded by the Trade Federation remain top secret and is not open to full disclosure to the Trade Federation until such products are ready for the open market."

"Mind yourself, Director." came the harsh rebuke of the Skakoan, as they maintained a piercing gaze on the woman, eyes searching for some sign of recognition or understanding between them. The Trade Federation could easily enforce a hostile occupation of the planet, and the forceful seizure of the biomolecule research for their own purposes, yet they had opened the door to negotiations with the NCBC Corporation as an equitable partner to avoid offending the Grandmaster of the New Jedi Order who owned a temple complex nearby, and had quite a good deal of influence with the Federal Assembly.

"As per our commission agreement, we stipulate a share equivalent to 14% of the daily biomolecule output. For instance, if your daily production reaches 200 crates, we anticipate receiving 28 crates for our own utilization. The contract duration spans 3 standard rotations, or years, with provisions for renewal and renegotiation upon mutual agreement if the initial terms no longer align with our respective objectives. " The Skakoan provided a comprehensive clarification of the terms and conditions governing the contractual arrangement between the Trade Federation and the NCBC Corporation. Instead of demanding their entire output like Director Gat Tambor would have wanted, he only requested 28 crates of biomolecules, subject to the Director's approval of the 14% share.

"We have no objection to the secrecy clause within our agreement." Laborr made another comment in an attempt to temporarily ease the tension between them, recognizing that negotiations often involve compromise, where one may accept a less favorable deal in the expectation of reciprocation from the other party.

Mind myself? Those words give me pause and make me wonder if perhaps the Viceroy is reading my mind. That thought I find to be quite concerning. I hold his gaze with my own, being sure to keep my own unwavering. Casting my eyes downward, even if to look at my Covines Ring would not be a good idea at this particular moment.

I listen as further as the Viceroy brings forth the answers to my questions and take heed of every word and turn of phrase. I contain my thoughts so that there is a lesser chance of them being breached. I find such intrusions to be an invasion of privacy, afterall, and I am quite thankful that the Covie have not made it a habit to perform such acts.

"Thank you, Viceroy. I accept your proposal in principle. Once a written form is drafted I shall submit it to the rest of the Board for ratification. I am quite sure that it will be a speedy process and that the Trade Federation will see it's first shipment arrive shortly thereafter."

I am sure that the Viceroy would find that more than acceptable, and that he himself would have others to review such an agreement. Although I could be wrong.

"Satisfactory...." was the only word said by the Commanding Viceroy, while mentally assessing the contract for any omitted elements. He could have pushed an additional stipulation that the NCBC Corporation would be accountable for bearing the costs of shipping, as well as procuring insurance in the event that the shipments were misplaced during transit to one of their numerous warehouses throughout the galaxy.

The Director and the Board of Directors would have likely been deterred by the stringent negotiation terms, prompting the Skakoan to postpone discussing them until their next meeting in 3 standard rotations.

" The Trade Federation will naturally examine the documentation from our side to guarantee a just agreement between fair-minded partners. Furthermore, as we have thoroughly addressed all aspects of the biomolecules, our conversation concludes " The Skakoan acknowledged that the Trade Federation operated as a non-dictatorial entity, with his leadership position being subject to the Executive Board's discretion.

However, due to his significant ownership stake in the organization, it was inevitable that his opinions carried the most weight. Since the contract had moved to the deliberation phase, the conversation between them would come to an end as they found a most agreeable settlement for the production of biomolecules.

It does not surprise me in the slightest that the Trade Federation wishes to examine the drafted document for themselves. Such an act is part and parcel for any contract. But first and foremost, one needs to be drafted up.

I dip my head as the Viceroy concludes the negotiations, satisfied at this portion of it at the very least. I rise to my feet. "I thank you, Viceroy. Have there been any quarters prepared for me today? Or shall I conduct my business on my ship? I would rather remain here until the contract is signed, if you do not mind."

It is usually customary for the host to see to the needs of the guest. Or at least that is how it is on New Cov. But who knows what decorum dictates within the Trade Federation. And it is not right for me merely to assume. So I leave such a fate in the hands of the Viceroy. My guards were prepared either way. And I am well aware that communications, however encrypted they may be, will not be wholey secure. That is why those of us on the path of the Board of Directors and their assistants had been trained to keep certain aspects of conversations in code. Simple words had different meanings, depending on how they were used. I know that those skills will be put to good use during this portion of this trip.

" Your accommodation's have been provided for, on the tenth level of the tower spire. " The Skakoan elaborated, aiming to ensure a pleasant stay for the Director of the NCBC Corporation. Should she have the opportunity to settle into her accommodations, the design comprised of comfortable furnishings, soothing colors, and thoughtful amenities.

The room was carefully arranged to provide a sense of tranquility and relaxation, with soft lighting and elegant decor adding to the overall ambiance. Additionally, the Skakoan made sure to include personal touches that would make the Director feel welcomed and at home, such as native plant species, and wide selection of snacks and beverages, along with a personalized welcome note. Once she left the executive suite, the Skakoan would move towards the holographic projector within the corner of the room.

" Alpha Bravo Signus Mavis #33455566600 " Laborr said, downloading the draft document from the terminal with a sense of purpose and determination. Understanding the importance of transferring the draft to the Trade Federation Executive Board who would carefully scrutinize every detail. It was crucial for them to review and approve any changes or modifications to guarantee a fair and balanced exchange for both parties involved.

I give the Viceroy another dip of my head before departing. "Thank you kindly, Viceroy. I will call upon you when I am ready."

Without another word or even a look back I exit the suite and head to the lift so that I can reach my designated quarters. I am pleased at the very least that arrangements had been made for me. Remaining here will make any further negotiations all the easier.

It isn't long before I enter my quarters. As per normal the doors open for me. Now whether that's by my unseen guards or automatic by motion detector, I don't know, nor does it matter. The quarters are rather lovely. I take a look around and give a small smile at the refreshments and note. It is nice to know that the Trade Federation treats their guests well.

I procure myself a few small bites of food and take a seat on the sofa. Even while it appears that I am alone; I am well aware that that isn't the case.

After wiping a corner of my mouth with a kerchief, I turn on my holo-communicator and place it on the end table. Immediately the pale and transparent form of my father appears. "Sweetheart. How did it go?"

"It went very well, father. I have a draft proposal from the Trade Federation to send your way."

"Negotiations were short? Was there not a lot of time spent on give and take?"

"Not as of yet, father."

"How is the weather out there?"

I find myself pausing for a moment as I think of what I've seen so far from New Cov's closest neighbor. "It looks like rain, father, with a hint of a storm on the horizon."

"We'll keep a close eye on it then, sweetheart. Good work. Send the draft straight away and we'll be in touch when it's ratified."

"Thank you, father. I'll keep my comms close." I turn off my holo-communicator and nibble some more on one of the refreshments. No sooner did I finish it that I relayed the draft proposal to my father and the rest of the BoD. I do hope that they are pleased with my efforts.
