The Birth Of Zavzen's Sophisticated Weapons

(I plan on this being a personal and private development thread depicting the creation of my character's lightsabers. PM me if you wish to join or if you have any advice as this is my first time role-playing)

Zavzen paced furiously around his quarters on The Eternal Savior. He had been listening to his Master tell tales of the battles fought by Je'daii against the Rakata that his Master had access to on his data banks and through them he had heard of the battles fought on many planets and one thing that kept recurring was mentions of the Force Blade. He really wanted one of them so that he could live up to legacy he accepted when he started to be trained by Master Ketu. He understood that obtaining a Force Blade would be nigh impossible so it was his hope to create a lightsaber instead.

Master Ketu wasn't a Master in the typical sense and as such couldn't help Zavzen. Zavzen had in his possession a Holocron of an old Je'daii Master it it was from that Holocron Master Ketu taught Zavzen by helping him learn control over his raw power over the Force.

Over the duration of the training Zavzen had adopted the Je'daii Code as a personal code and as such he had been ecstatic when Master Ketu had started to tell him stories of the Je'daii and even the Jedi. But he soon started to be overcome by frustration the more he heard of lightsbaers and force blades as they represented the two orders. Months of frustration suddenly overwhelmed Zavzen and before he could stop it he let out a scream that had the Force embedded. Zavzen's accidental Force Scream sent objects flying all over the room and, unknowingly for Zavzen activated the Holocron of Master Ketu.

Taking a deep breathe Zavzen began to go through the movements of Alchaka with the hope of preventing himself loosing control like that himself. While meditating Zavzen allowed the energies on Ashla and Bogan to swirl inside of him but their constant chaotic dance that brought them in harmony with each other failed to significantly ease himself. "In Balance With Chaos And Harmony," Zavzen whispered to himself, "I must find an inner peace and stop my emotions from ruling me, I must be patient I will receive the opportunity to craft a blade when I am ready."

"Perhaps I was waiting for you to approach me first, Disciple. If you are so eager to start shall we begin?" A soft, baritone voice said as Zavzen jumped in response to the unexpected voice due to him still not realising that he had activated Master Ketu's Holocron. Zavzen turned and bowed to the translucent human male hovering above said Holocron. "As you say Master," Zavzen responded, "Would you be willing to help me craft a Lightsaber or Force Blade, Master Ketu?"

"Shall we begin with your lightsabers now, Disciple?"

Xavzen sat in seiza in The Eternal Saviour's meditation chambers with around two-hundred, clear canisters filled to the brim with carbon dioxide, the Holocron of Master Ketu activated behind him.

"Since we do not have access to natural Force Crystals to use as focusing crystals we must improvise. You will be creating synthesised Force Crystals instead. Usually one would require a geological compressor to do this but you will be doing it the hard way, the compressor would replicate would simulate the conditions Force Crystals grow in while the Force user directed the Force to flow through the crystals, but in this case you will be doing both aspects, you can see this as a control exercise if you wish, Disciple. Do you have any conditions before I continue?" Asked Ketu.

"Yes, Master. Why did you have me collect all these canisters from Nar Shaddaa?"

"Quite simple really," replied Ketu, "Force Crystals are formed out of highly compressed carbon. Your job will be to first use the Force to separate the carbon atoms and the oxygen atoms that form all of the carbon dioxide in front of you.Begin"

"But Master..."

"Xavzen, do not ask me more until you have at least attempted. Begin"

"...Yes, Master." Xavzen finally respond to his Master's orders with a sour expression adorning his face. With one last smile towards his student, Master Ketu's image flickered and disappeared and the flowing lights covering his holocron faded.

Taking a deep breathe Xavzen allowed himself to sink into the Force and reached out with his senses. He could feel the shifting of the gas in front of him, hear the now loud thrum of the engines, see the electricity race along the wiring of the ship, but couldn't feel the shifting gasses on a molecular level. Xavzen ran idea after idea through his head and with every attempt and every corresponding failure his anger at himself for his lack of progress and his Master for assigning such an impossible task grew and grew.

After trying at the task for a week (During which he called on the Force to sustain him) Xavzen had made no progress. Springing out of his kneeling position Xavzen stormed through the ship towards the training room where he began to release his anger out on the make-shift training dummies, crushing each one in the Force before tearing them to shreds. It was only when Xavzen was left panting in the middle of the training room that he started to calm himself, launching into Alchaka. It was an hour later when Xavzen stumbled out of the training room towards his quarters where he would collapse in exhaustion.

Six hour later Xavzen awoke and immediately returned to the Meditation Chambers, disregarding his stomachs growling. Upon crossing the thresh hold Xavzen used the Force to activate his master's Holocron. Master Ketu emerged with a smirk consuming his face,

"Do you give up?" He asked.

"Yes! Yes, I kriffing well am giving up on the kriffing impossible task! You ask to much of me Master!" Xavzen exclaimed in anger.

"Correction," began Ketu with a sympathetic smile, "I asked to little of you. You have begun to use the Force for everything. You must understand the Force is not the answer to everything nor is it a crutch for you to use when you need not. If you would look closer at the containers you will find a control pad designed for the distillation of gasses. At your current skill level this task was far above your head. This was a cruel trick, I will admit, but a necessary one non the less." Turning Xavzen took a closer look at the canisters before waving his hand to trigger the distillation through the Force, a subdued expression on his face.

"I am sorry for disappointing you Master." He finally said.

"You did not disappoint me Disciple. It is a trap many fall for. Now go, rest, recover. We will begin when you are back to peak condition."

"Today, Disciple, we will be collecting the final parts needed to craft you lightsaber before we finish your crystals." This was how Master Ketu greeted Xavzen when he walked into the Meditation Chamber. "You will need to set our course for Tython. At the Forge there should be enough spare sets of lightsaber parts.."

Ketu was quickly interrupted by Xavzen before he could continue, "Actually Master I will only need one set."

"Why would that be Disciple, I thought you wished to learn Jar'kai?" Inquired Ketu.

"I still do Master, however I wish to make my shoto unique and plan to use the wood of the Brylark Tree do make the hilt."

"Regardless Disciple, you will still need the components to place inside the wood. And how will you get the needed wood anyway?"

"Well, you remember how I stole this ship of a smuggler. On of the holds contain a few statues made out of the wood, at least, according to the shipping manifest. And before you ask, this was the captain's manifest not the public one."

"Well then, it seems you have that in order. Now to continue my earlier point; there should be enough spare lightsaber part at the Forge on Tython to create your lightsabers. The parts can be found ..."

-----------

"Be quick Disciple, we don't know the current climate of Tython, nor who resides here."

"Yes Master, I will be right back. There's no need to worry."

As Xavzen sprinted off the ship he could of sworn he heard his Master say "With you there's always a need to worry, brat." Shaking his head at the thought of his his straight laced Master saying that, Xavzen sped up the steps to the peak of the Forge. Quickly opening the hidden compartment Xavzen levitated two of everything out of hole before sealing it shut. Speeding back down the steps towards the ship, sending a charging group of Flesh Raiders flying as he did so, Xavzen was soon with in the cockpit of the Eternal Saviour and was speeding out of Tythons atmosphere, all the while still maintaining a tight grip on his loot in the Force.

-----------

Xavzen was now kneeling in seiza in front of the translucent image of his Master, the gathered components and hollowed out cylinder of Brylark wood lying in front of him.

"You have gathered all parts necessary for a Lightsaber, Disciple. However one thing remains before you can start crafting you blade. The creation of the crystals. I shall instruct you on what to do in the 'morrow Disciple. I would also recommend giving thought to where you would like to craft your lightsaber, I would suggest a forest or a place similarly brimming with the Force"

Xavzen stood in front of the canisters that now contained pure carbon instead of carbon dioxide (the oxygen had been thrown into space just recently), behind him was his Master's translucent form.

"You will be compressing half of this carbon to extreme amounts for two weeks, sustaining yourself on just the Force alone. As such this will not be just you taking a step closer to finishing you lightsaber but also a test of your connection to the Force. While compressing the carbon you are to simultaneously flow the force through it, tuning the crystal to yourself and the Force. After you are done you will take a two day break before repeating yourself when creating your second crystal." Pausing the walk around Xavzen, Master Ketu reached out an intangible hand and hovered it over Xavzen's shoulder as a sign of encouragement. "Good luck you damn brat, believe and the Force and yourself and you will be find." With that parting message Ketu's blue form flickered from sight.

With a sigh, Xavzen collapsed gently to the fall before heaving himself into seiza. Thinking for a moment, Xavzen decided to take advantage of making two crystals and create a balance between them, resolving to embed one with mainly Ashla and the other with mainly Bogan. Taking a deep breathe to calm the sensation in his gut, Xavzen reached out into the Force and allowed himself to slowly be absorbed into the Force.

Extending his reach with the Force, Xavzen opened half of the containers and lifted out there contents. Holding the large amount of carbon in the air in the shape of a giant sphere, Xavzen paused for a moment before continuing.

Slowly reaching out with more of the Force, Xavzen started to manipulate it to flow through the sphere with Ashla being the dominant fraction. After continuing this for a few hours Xavzen then started to slow compress the sphere from all sides. Bit by bit, day by day this continued with Xavzen never stopping nor hesitating and with him immersing himself in the Force every moment to call on more strength so as to complete this task. When the two weeks was up all that was left of the once giant sphere of carbon was a 2 1/2 inch long and 1/2 inch wide yellow crystal that appeared to have red cracks flowing through the centre. Falling forwards and only just catching himself with his hands Xavzen allowed the crystal to slowly fall to the ground. Painfully dragging himself upright, Xavzen staggered out of the room towards his chambers for two days of rest.

----------

Sixteen days later the scene happened once again in the Meditation Chamber. Xavzen collapsed forwards and only just managed to get his hands out underneath him. With a tired sigh Xavzen heaved himself up and gathered the two crystals up from the floor. Holding them in his palm he studied them closely. They were both 2 1/2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide but while the first was orange with red veins the second was black with yellow veins. Closing a fist around the two crystals protectively, Xavzen swaggered unsteadily to his rooms for some rest.

Sitting in the middle of a forest glade on Naboo was Xavzen. His head was bowed and in the air in front of him was all the components needed to form his lightsabers. The typical and traditional materials gathered from Tython slowly fused themselves together at the mental guidance Xavzen, slowly trapping the yellow crystal inside the longer than normal lightsaber hilt.

When the final piece was fused in place the finished lightsaber hovered there, slowly rotating, as the remaining pieces. Slowly the electronic components fused together around the black crystal before being inserted into the smaller than usual wooded hilt. The hilt was then capped at either end with the final parts.

Xavzen slowly stood up in front of the two lightsabers he had just created. He reached out and plucked the metallic hilt from the air with his right hand and the wooden with his left. He then activated them. Immediately thinner than usual beams sprung forth from the hilts with oscillations of energy running down the blades periodically. The blade in his right hand was yellow with thin, red veins running through out while the left hand blade was black with thin, yellow veins running through out the blade. Retracting the blades Xavzen clipped them to his belt, the metal hilt on the left and the wooden shoto on the right.

With a slight smirk of satisfaction, Xavzen turned and left the clearing.
