The Blade of Hunger

Korriban, The Tomb of Darth Nihilus

Abyss feet left no sound as he walked upon the endless sands that surrounded the valley of the sleeping kings, the desert of the ancient sith homeworld as relentless and unforgiving as in the days the dark lords still ruled over the world. Countless times he had wandered through the place were dark gods go to die, always hoping to find answers that he and all the other sith that came here, had not found before. Yet as everyone before him, he had been disappointed every time, the valley was dead and forgotten even to the ghosts that still remained. Korriban was a corpse of a planet, like the lords that had been buried on it, before their graves had been robbed and the stones broke apart, unable to withstand the never ending grip of time.

The tomb of the lord of hunger had been robbed like any other, everything of worth gone from the planet long ago. Yet there was still something to be found, an echo, a hint that could tell the sith lord where to find what he desired. His weapon had found its final end on mindabaal, broken by the dark lord Darth Ferus, and since than he had to work with spares, simple tools taken from minor acolytes that fell in the battles around him. They did what was needed of them, yet they never felt like a part of him, like his original weapon did. Any other sith or jedi alike would have constructed a new one, but not Darth Abyss. His original weapon had its on link to history, the echo that resounded from it always helped him to channel his focus. If he wanted to become strong he would need a new weapon that would reflect on his connection of the past, and one that would help him to channel his hunger. So which would be better suited than the one that belonged to the lord of hunger himself.

The Last Knight of the One Sith listened to the echoes of the tomb, but there was nothing to be heard. Not that this was particularly suspiring, most of the time the spirits remained silent to those who seeked them. He wasn't here to make the return from the dead, there was nothing they could tell him that would help him in his search. Instead he came here to find a hint of those who claimed it, who broke apart the stone coffin and took what once belonged to the dark lord Nihilus. His hand touched every stone, anything that marked the path deeper in the tomb, his mind extended through the force to see what was once before. Still, as much as he searched, as much as he tried to focus, all that could be seen where memories of those who build the the tomb in the name of the lord of hunger. It was fascinating to him never the less, seeing this forgotten chapter of the past, yet he could slowly feel the frustration inside him grow stronger.

A small piece of metal, almost to small to be seen. Abyss hand touched the cold substance, and there it was ... An echo. Weak and distant, yet it was there. Not the story of those who worshiped the lord of hunger, but those of them who robbed his grave. Smugglers, no connection to the sith or the dark side, only motivated by their hunger for money and wealth. How fitting. Those with a connection to the force would have left a stronger, more vibrant echo. Listening once more, this time closer, he slowly could piece together what happened here. The time the grave was robbed was long ago, before the One Sith, the rise of the empire, even before the Clone wars. By now the blade was either lost forever or in the hands of another collector.

Nar Shaddaa

The bar was empty besides a handful of drunken mercenary, in a state that only barely resembled conscience, and Abyss himself, sipping on the third drink of the day. It seemed that his contact had once more decided to not arrive in time, or ever. As much as he desired the blade, he was at the point of giving up as without the help of an insider he had close to no chance to find the new owner of the blade. He slowly felt light headed from the intoxication, something he hadn't felt in months. Not that he missed it, but letting his sorrows drown in alcohol was surprisingly relaxing. He hoped that the man he was waiting for would arrive soon or else he would end up like the rest of the bars customers.

The man who stepped inside the bar was at least 30 years older than Abyss, and old associate of his father. He only had meet him two time, long before he became Darth Abyss, or even Abyss the sith acolyte. Both times he had felt a sense of disdain for the man, his lack of professionalism was a bad habit in his kind of work, and still he had managed to stay in business longer than most. Not only did he lacked any sense for money, selling his wares and information for prices far above those of anyone else, he had been a cutthroat at heart, often trying to sell his father worthless junk that had no worth whatsoever. Abyss yellow eyes locked on him, as he took place on the chair on the other side of the table.

"Its been a long time. Sorry about your Father."

Abyss face showed no emotion, the mention of his father provoked no reaction inside his mind. He felt nothing, the man that had raised him was just a faded memory of a live that wasn't his own anymore. The only thing that he still kept from this time where the numerous contacts that his father left behind, that allowed him to find those who owned or hunted for the artifacts of the old times. His voice was cold, emotionless, with no hint of the fact that both man had meet before

"You have what I asked for?"

"Yes, but it has his price."

Abyss rolled his eyes, the disdain in them obvious. Sure it had its price, everything in the galaxy had, and the only thing that mattered was:

"How much?"

In the face of the other man a smile formed, a look he had seen before. Now he would try to get as much money out of him as possible, thinking that he was still nothing else than another artifact hunter. Oh how surprised he would be when Abyss would show him what he had become since the had meet the last time

"Well with all the things I had to do for this information? A lot, maybe even more. I know what skills you possess, your father told me once. I require them for a project of mine."

"Yes, I will show you what skills I have"

Abyss face formed into a small, cruel grin, the yellow of his eyes glowing brighter than before. His hand touched the mans forehead, his mind extending inside that of the other. With all force he had, he broke into the mans mind, ripping out whatever knowledge the man had stored in there. There was no resistance, the man had no power to stand against that of a sith. Memories flashed through his mind, words, numbers and information the man had gathered before. He could hear the mans breath as the mind of the sith faded, leaving him a broken and disturbed shell of a being.

Tatooine

The house of the collector was located in the most remote location Abyss could have imagined. As it seemed the blade had been left between eternal sands once more. From the outside the house was nothing special, but even from a distance he could feel the power of the darkness pulsating inside. Yet he couldn't sense any live left there, all that was there were presences that belonged to old, dead relics that seemingly rested inside the mansion. Slowly he moved forward, unsure what was inside the building. He was close too his goal now.

The place was littered with corpses, dead bodies staked on top of each other. Any of them showed distinctive marks of the battles that took place her, any of them cut open with what had to be a lightsaber. Some of the corpses where reality fresh, only a few weeks old, others had already rotted to nothing else than bones and dust. It seemed that whoever lived here had taken many lives. But why.
Walking through the rooms, the full extend of the massacre was revealed to him. Many had found their death inside this place, and all by the blade that once belonged to the lord of hunger. Then there it was. A simple metal hilt clinging in the hand of a corpse of a man, the only one without any marks on his body. As it seemed he had become consumed by the hunger that still lived inside the blade, and found his end

He almost couldn't believe it, as his hand finally touched the weapon he had desired for so long.
