Swaths of Black: The black areas amongst the chaotic storm are pockets of unaffected space, where plasma scorches have been nullified by the asteroid field, its massive chunks attracting the ionic blasts of the vicious storms, these small pockets of respite aren't easily noticeable from the outside, but can be used by advanced ships to navigate the storm. However this could take days, perhaps weeks.

An ionic storm birthed from the destruction of Draemidus Prime and its Sun, the Ionic storm was birthed from the cataclysm that took place many millennia ago. The system has mostly remained untouched, or perhaps forgotten in times long past.
The dark age cloaked this planet's history in myth, no record of it exists outside of the Bryn'adûl data-bases and thusly has caused this massive ionic storm to go on without notice, until recent actions brought more observation upon wild space and the Draelvasier homeworld.
