Private The Breaking Point

There was never a moments rest when you were a Jedi. Doubly so when you were royalty.

Orinda was a world that wasn't all that different from his own. There were the elite, upper crust of people, and there were people below that who lived in the day-to-day life of laboring. The difference was that Lazerian IV was largely a free world. Even though he ruled three fourths of it, his people were free and not oppressed by him. On Orinda, a dispute had arisen between the elite's, who view the working-class as a means to achieve wealth, and the laborers who believe in egalitarianism that feel oppressed and mistreated by the owners of the corporations that run much of the world.

Caelan and Master Wrennar have been dispatched to the world in order to negotiate an end to the revolt, which has, to this point, been mostly peaceful. There have been a few clashes between laborers and local security forces that turned to minor violence, but they were isolated incidents and never escalated beyond a few people throwing rocks or bottles or maybe breaking a few windows. The preferred form of lasting protest appeared to be graffiti.

When they landed on the world, Caelan made sure Fate was tucked into his hood so he'd stay out of sight unless needed, but also so he wouldn't get left behind. The little droid was swift when he needed to be, but he couldn't keep up with most people in a sustained fashion. They had an appointment scheduled between themselves and the leader of the laborers movement first, to see what it was they were seeking, and then they would speak to the voice of the elite separately before getting them into the same room with one another. Or, at least, that was what he understood the plan to be.

"We have a short time before the meeting, Master Wrennar," he said as they exited their transport. "Do you wish to do anything beforehand?"

Garric felt that he could say with confidence that he was used to the galaxy once more. He was getting used to the New Jedi Order and honestly felt it was an improvement to the Old Republic Jedi Order he was familiar with. Eventually, he began to go on missions once more, which brings him to where he was now: Orinda with a padawan in order to help with bringing an end to revolts. They had just arrived on the planet when the younger of the two asked Garric his question. The older of the pair thought for a moment before turning to the padawan with his answer.

"I'm not sure, I can't say I'm all too familiar with Orinda. Maybe there is a place where we can have a drink before the meeting. We can even get to know one another while we're at it. I'd like to know a bit more about the person who I'll be working with for negotiations. What do you think?"

He always felt a nice drink and a talk with companions before something stressful (like negotiations) could help calm the nerves and help all parties feel more comfortable with each other.

A drink? Seemed kind of odd, but if that was what he wanted.

"I suppose that's fine," he said, offering a small shrug. "I don't drink, but I'd be happy to sit with you and have water while you have something else."

He knew some Jedi were more into the drinking scene than others. Some of them did so to the point they were almost always inebriated. Others just imbibed now and then in order to enjoy a little bit of a taper to the edge of their lives. He'd never really seen a reason for it, and he didn't like to partake in things, willingly, that might have an affect on his mind when he needed to keep it sharp and focused. Though, he did know some people that drinking actually made them more focused.

Flagging down one of the starports workers, he got directions to a spot and thanked the man before motioning for Garric to lead the way.

"After you, Master Wrennar."

Garric was slightly confused, but shrugged off the young man's words as they made their way out of the starport and into the city. As they walked, the old jedi observed the area around them. It was a fairly crowded street, but not one in which either of them could get lost in. They continued to walk until the padawan pointed to a bar that he had got the directions to. The older of the two looked at the younger one with a deadpan look before lightly chopping his head.

"Who do you think I am? Someone who drinks that wretched stuff on missions? I can hardly stand the taste of alcohol."

Garric tugged the padawan in another direction towards a small café.

"I meant just 'a drink', not whatever you were thinking."

Garric entered the café and signalled the padawan to follow. When they entered they were provided a table and Garric removed his scabbard and leaned it against the table as he sat down.

"Now, I am rather in the mood for some tea. Would you like some, or do you still only want water?"

Well didn't he feel like an idiot all of a sudden.

"Oh, apologies," he said, offering a sheepish smile as he rubbed his head. "Most people mean alcohol when they say they want a drink."

Even among Jedi it was common to drink. How was he to know the man had meant something else? Not like he was a mind reader. Caelan could barely sense people; reading their minds was out of the question.

But he was tugged off in another direction and quickly followed after the master as they headed towards a cafe. It was busy, but not busy enough to draw attention. Caelan made sure to keep his lightsaber tucked away since they were technically on a Dark Empire world and meddling in their affairs. Hopefully they could succeed without drawing too much attention to themselves. He settled into a seat opposite the master.

"Tea would be nice."
