- Age: 11 years old, mental age of 45
- Force Sensitivity: Master
- Species: Draelvasier
- Subspecies: Baedurin
- Appearance: Shobe’opdth is a greatly deformed female of the Baedurin subspecies of Draelvasier. Almost all of her hard layer of reinforced skin has eroded away as a result of experimentation performed on her, with remnants of the thick outer layer only present from the sides of her hip down to her knees, as well as a large mutated patch on top of her head. The rest of her body is covered by remnants of skin averaging about 5 mm in thickness, barely hiding the raw muscle mass underneath. Since her skin has eroded away unevenly, Shobe’opdth has numerous small, long reddish lines of skin on her upper body that are several millimeters thicker than the exposed area below.
- Name:
- Full Name: Shobe’opdth 00001
- Alias(es): Shobe’opdth, Unforeseen And Tragic Killing
- Loyalties: The First Overseer (Tachael-Vemnak Overseer Purabi’ita) individually, the Bryn’adûl as a whole
- Wealth: N/A
- Notable Possessions: N/A
- Skills: Shobe’opdth is engineered to be the perfect assassin of Draelvasier, with little regard given to the usage of non-combat skills. As such, she is socially inept and has little basic intellect beyond stealth combat tactics and survival instincts.
- Personality: Shobe’opdth is unquestioningly loyal to Overseer Purai’ita, with every one of her combat operations being determined by the First Overseer with no room for failure. Her thoughts and actions are at their most independent when eliminating the First Overseer’s foes, using her own ingrained combat experience from her previous life along with instinctive knowledge of her gained powers to ruthlessly execute targets. Outside of battle, she is granted no social life and is a mere puppet for the First Overseer to “discipline” and “upgrade” without a word of resistance.
Featured above: Several Meitkhpu
- Weapon of Choice:
- Shobe’opdth’s primary and preferred “weapon” is a series of unholy tentacles collectively known as Meitkhpu. The Meitkhpu are rectangular structures of variable length, but with a consistent width of half a meter. Individual Meitkhpu are capable of extending up to one hundred meters away from Shobe’opdth at a speed of up to sixty kilometers per hour, giving her considerable range beyond her physical body. Meitkhpu are pitch black, only distinguishable from the surrounding darkness by a glowing red silhouette containing the power used to project Meitkhpu. They are extremely corrosive, capable of melting through durasteel with a mere touch and harder metals over the course of several seconds. However, against organic tissue, the Meitkhpu have an entirely different effect. When they make physical contact with organic tissue, Meitkhpu absorb the blood of the organism, redirecting blood flow to burst through the affected skin. Consequently, increased vitality is given to Shobe’opdth while painfully and thoroughly sucking the life out of its targets.
- Shobe’opdth’s primary stealth tool is a process known as Osinsuker. When physically within a shadow or a certain degree of darkness, Shobe’opdth can choose to activate Osinsuker until she physically exits the area of darkness or chooses to attack. After Osinsuker is activated, Shobe’opdth becomes invisible to the naked eye, thermal sensors, and radar after three seconds, slowly fading from view. Shobe’opdth can be brought out of Osinsuker only if she uses her Meitkhpu, exits a dark area, or comes into physical contact with a living organism. If Shobe’opdth wishes a swifter and more brutal death, he can simply skewer organic foes on one or several Meitkhpu.
- Combat Function: Shobe’opdth is a well-refined assassin who uses darkness as a tool to enable her formidable arsenal for use to eliminate those the First Overseer suspects of heresy or potential heresy.
- The Shadow: When using Osinsuker under appropriate conditions, Shobe’opdth can become almost completely invisible, concealing her physical form, her heat signature, and her Force presence until she exits the shadow. These effects can also be present in natural darkness created by day/night cycles or in areas with walls or roofs blocking the flow of natural or artificial light.
- True Assassin: The pinnacle of Blood Enforcers, Shobe’opdth is an immensely powerful force, even among a species of notably strong and talented individuals. Her vast and unholy arsenal can make short work of all but the strongest of individuals, granting them one of a thousand brutal deaths.
- Big Girl: While her greatest offensive strength comes from her enhanced Force powers, Shobe’opdth nonetheless has similar physical capabilities to other members of the Baedurin Draelvasier subspecies. The decaying of her skin has had little effect on the nearly two hundred kilograms of muscle underneath, allowing her to easily lift up structures up to triple her three hundred and fifty kilogram weight and crush skulls as if they were crispy waffles.
- Wraith: Aside from being physically strong, Shobe’opdth is also highly mobile, capable of enhancing her limbs with the Force to keep a pace of sixty kilometers per hour on flat and even ground for about ten minutes before exhausting herself. Furthermore, Shobe’opdth can use her Meitkhpu to produce bridges, staircases, ladders, or other personal structures for crossing difficult terrain.
- Vampirism: By absorbing the life force from organic beings using her Meitkhpu, Shobe’opdth can repair wounds and restore some of her own life force, with the absorbed power of targeted Force-users increasing the strength and flexibility of her own Force arsenal.
- Observer: While mostly invisible using Osinsuker, Shobe’opdth cannot interact with living organisms or attack unless she disengages it, compromising any stealth beyond the darkness she usually fights in.
- Thin Skin: As a result of experimentation performed on her, much of Shobe’opdth’s outer skin has melted away. Consequently, her exposed muscle tissue is far more vulnerable to blaster fire and the elements than that of a normal Draelvasier with fully intact skin.
- Hypothermic: As the further result of the degrading of Shobe’opdth’s skin, the natural Baedurin weakness to the cold is worsened. In fact, the application of a sufficiently sized ice formation to any of her muscles or organs can cause them to shut down indefinitely within several seconds, and such tissue can only be rehabilitated through careful application of heat in excess of 100 degrees celsius.
- The Light! It Burns!: By far, Shobe’opdth’s greatest flaw is her immense sensitivity to light. When light is shone on her, Shobe’opdth can neither summon her Meitkhpu nor retreat into Osinsuker. Consequently, her power becomes little more than that of a muscular female Baedurin.
- Big Girl: Outside of Osinsuker, Shobe’opdth’s large physical form makes her easily detectable. Even Osinsuker cannot conceal the noises she makes as she moves or the large footsteps she leaves behind in soft ground.
Shobe’opdth 00001 was not always the feared assassin that she has now become.
In the early days of the Bryn’adûl, the Baedurin female who eventually became Shobe’opdth was known as the Seer Horepkem. Horepkem was a gifted youth, becoming one of the first cloned inductees to the Order of Seers and rising steadily through its ranks due to her growing power with the Force. On one of the earliest campaigns of the reunited Byrn’adul involving quelling unrest within the Dramedius system itself, Seer Horepkem initially distinguished herself in the persecution of those who unjustly opposed the Chieftain’s will. During these skirmishes, the young Seer found herself accompanied by a group of Seers and Zealot bodyguards, including the Zealot Elite Ateferty, who she developed a close relationship with. Eventually, the two entered an intercoursal relationship originating from mutual romantic feelings, a rarity among the Draelvasier species who remained relatively stoic outside of battle and ritual. Still, the unusual romance was largely tolerated, with occasional teasing jokes tossed their way.
However, their harmonious relationship would not last. On a typical raid on heretical camps on the asteroids scattered across the orbit of Dramedius Prime, a heretic leader skilled in public speaking was taken prisoner for interrogation. Ateferty was assigned to guard the prisoner due to the belief that his formidable skills and training would make him resistant to any appeals made by the heretical leader. However, Ateferty had hidden disapproval about the treatment of Draelvasier heretics for years, and was easily swayed by the leader’s message. Freeing the prisoner while the others in the facility slept, Ateferty stole a Striker Shard and vanished into the outer reaches of the system.
The next day, there was mass uproar. When Seer Horepkem was asked about the whereabouts of Ateferty, she replied truthfully that she did not know his location or intentions. However, she was treated from then on with increased suspicion, suspicion that would haunt her every night until her transformation.
Two weeks later, a raid on a heretic camp found Ateferty among their ranks. In order to prove her loyalty, Horepkem was assigned to personally kill her former lover. While they fought intensely for nearly half an hour, the former using projections of the Force and the latter utilizing the mastery of his blade, neither had the will to land a killing blow.
Ultimately, Seer Horepkem’s refusal to kill Ateferty would seal her fate.
Thirty-two minutes and six seconds into their fight, Ateferty’s head was blown off by an explosive-lined arrow, marking the first Draelvasier kill of First Overseer Purai’ita. The recently appointed Overseer had been observing Seer Horepkem ever since Ateferty’s treason, and saw her hesitation as complicity in the heresy.
In a mere five seconds, Horepkem had been knocked unconscious by Purai’ita.
It was from the promising young Seer that the First Overseer gained the inspiration for Blood Enforcers of the Tachael-Vemnak, though modified Vemnak records would cite Blood Enforcer 00002 as the first successful unit. Recognizing untapped power in the Force that surpassed even his own, Overseer Purai’ita decided that it would be more valuable to keep her alive as a slave than dead along with all her potential.
To “tame” Horepkem, the First Overseer worked with several Vemnak-aligned Seers to create a novel form of memory modification that could work on Draelvasier brains. Once the technique was perfected, the imprisoned and emaciated Seer was subjected to the rough draft of the torture and brainwashing experiments that would eventually serve as the basis for hundreds of Blood Enforcers to come.
First, she was subjected to countless forms of physical torment, from beatings to enduring bright lights constantly shone within her underground cell to being forced to urinate on one foot. Once the physical beatdown was concluded, her nervous system was subjected to a constant series of mental tugs and tears, resulting in feelings of intense pain for hours on end. Once her remaining resolve was thoroughly destroyed, Horepkem was then put through “forced re-education”, where her brain was blasted with propaganda that she was to repeat on a stone tablet and out loud, with the threat of nerve torture constantly looming. Over the course of months, her fond memories of Ateferty were replaced with hatred for the heretical traitor, and her refusal to kill him out of love seen as a form of mental disease. She confessed to heresy in the highest degree, including murder, sabotouge, conspiracy, and collusion. Finally, she accepted herself as an eternal slave of the Chieftain and the First Overseer, the only way to clear herself of her record.
It was this newly reformed Baedurin female who would become the first Blood Enforcer of the Tachael-Vemnak. Unquestioningly loyal to the First Overseer individually and the Ish’makra as a collective, Horepkem slaughtered dozens of heretics without an ounce of compassion or mercy. It was during her early killings that she became accustomed to shadows, as she was advised to never reveal her presence to anyone except for her targets. According to official records, the young Seer was executed for heresy, and any documentation of her current status would threaten the integrity of the entire Tachael-Vemnak.
At the same time, the First Overseer hid Horepkem’s existence from even his colleagues in the Overseer Council. A strict conservative, the First Overseer had hidden doubts about the intentions of some of the early Overseers, and wanted to keep the first Blood Enforcer as his personal assassin in case a future liberal Overseer threatened to overturn the order of the Tachael-Vemnak.
Inspired by Horepkem’s success, Overseer Purai’ita, initiated the second Overseer Council of four Overseers to “create” the Blood Enforcers as an official unit within the Tachael-Vemnak, as well as establishing principles for which heretics were valuable enough in their power to convert. As dozens of Blood Enforcers joined the Tachael-Vemnak ranks, the indoctrination process was refined, and Horepkem was frequently “modified” to become a more efficient killer.
It was during one of these modifications that it was discovered that Horepkem had powerful vampiric abilities. During a routine series of mental torture, Horepkem nearly snapped into insanity, desperately reaching out with her spiritual energy to find a lifeline. One of the Seer interrogators had promptly dropped dead, his soul snuffed out from his body. Blaming the disturbance as an assassination attempt by heretics, Overseer Purai’ita allowed Horepkem to consume the energy of all five Seer and Shaman interrogators. He was greatly pleased by the development, as her increase in power greatly compensated for the slow degradation of her skin. Over the course of years, she began to develop her powers semi-independently, centering them around the darkness she so often worked in. First her Osinsuker, then her Meitkhpu, began to form and develop, growing stronger through training as well as the absorption of power from Force-endowed heretics. She soon learned that her Meitkphu were the most efficient way to draw energy from other living beings, and they turned into her primary offensive tools.
By the time she was seven Basic years old, Horepkem’s power had grown to such a great extent that she became known by urban legend as Shobe’opdth, or “The Shadow”.
