- Combat Function:
As the mid-ranked officer position in the Zealot Order, Officers command a Zealot Company, a large Zealot unit that consists of multiple squads (1 Major & 5 Minors or 1-2 Shadows) of Zealots. Just as there are two variants of Zealot squads, there are also two variants of Zealot companies.
- Zealot Regular Company - The most commonly deployed form of Zealot company, consisting of three Zealot Minor squads with a total of 19 individuals including the Officer. For high-risk missions, one or more squads can sometimes be added or subtracted from a Regular Company.
- Zealot Hybrid Company - A specialized Zealot company consisting of two Zealot Minor squads and two Zealot Shadow squads with a total of 15-17 individuals including the Officer. Typically deployed on more complicated asset retrieval missions, Hybrid Companies utilize the strength of Minors and the talent of Shadows to perform numerous tasks simultaneously.
- Special Forces: Zealot Officers are well trained in the more subtle arts of combat such as infiltration, assassination, and asset retrieval. Zealot Officers are capable of leading units in performing many specialized, high-value operations that other units such as Brutes would be incapable of.
- Bigger & Meaner: Officers are typically among the finer specimens of Zealot, heavily muscled even by Draelvasier standards and wielding a greater arsenal than Minors, Shadows, and even Majors. In single combat, the strength and stamina of Zealot Commanders is nearly unrivalled.
- Field Commander: Zealot Officers are seasoned warriors who can effectively lead a company of Zealot Minors and coordinate actions among their members.
- Big Boys: As members of the Draelvasier species, Aeravalin and Baedurin Zealot Officers are well-built and can take serious punishment from most opponents.
- Tactical Introversion: Zealot Officers are at their most effective when operating alone, away from heavy frontline fighting. If the enemy vanguard detects a Zealot Officer and their unit, then it is highly likely that they will be quickly ripped apart by superior enemy numbers and firepower unless they find an escape route.
- Big Boys: The considerable size of the Draelvasier species makes it difficult for Zealot Officers to hide themselves from keen-eyed enemies, and their large forms are easy targets for enemy marksmen.
- Babysitter: Many Zealot Officers have to handle companies filled with rowdy Draelvasier and overconfident Majors, causing them to focus most of their energy on the internal structure of their units. Consequently, a Zealot Officer can be easily eliminated by a sniper when their energy and concentration is focused on regrouping their company.
The rank of Zealot Officer is placed upon Zealot Majors who have distinguished themselves and their unit in the field of battle for at least a year.
Compared to Major candidates, Officer candidates are given a much more thorough command training program, lasting for about half a year. During this time, they are left under the guidance of off-duty Zealot Commanders who guide them in the command of large groups of Zealots and the proper utilization of junior designations. Thanks to discipline training largely absent in the Major candidate training system, Commanders are usually much less reckless and understand the differing capabilities of themselves and their units.
If their performance in their training is seen as satisfactory, then the Officer candidates are given the official rank and assigned a company. Zealot Officers are allowed to ask to switch from a Regular Company to a Hybrid Company or vice versa if they can come up with a proper explanation for such a change. However, if a Zealot Commander overrides an Officer’s company choice, then the Commander’s decision is final.
