The Call

Jairdain having decided on a path to follow, devoted herself to it. Along the way to getting there, she had acquired a few new skills. Having taken a test on Voss and passed that, she now had the ability to have visions. Unlike the Voss though, she felt there were some she could interpret on her own.

Having one on this day, it showed her a young man that appeared to be about her age, running errands on a planet she had never been on. Though she learned its name in the vision and it was clear to her, she needed to find this man. What that reason was, she didn't know, but he would be an important part of her life now and in the future. The feeling wasn't dangerous in any way though, so she followed what it showed her.

Her own ship could only carry her, so she arranged to borrow one of the other ships of the Silver's. It was something simple enough for the blind woman to pilot on her own. Securing clearance, she didn't know how long she would be gone, but she left a clear message to those that knew of her past where she was going.

Piloting the ship away from Silver space, she set course for Correlia and the hopes of finding this man. A clue given to her in the vision was he was a currier. So she would have to think of something for him to pick up and deliver to her. After travelling, she knew just what to do. Arriving at the spaceport, she would order something from a local place there and have him bring it to her. This also meant she needed to find a place to stay while she was here.

Asking at the spaceport, a few locations were given to her that fit what she needed. Going to one of them, she couldn't see what it looked like, but it felt right. Gaining a room there, she then set about ordering something for him to deliver. Not knowing how to contact him, all she could do was trust in the Force that he was the one that got picked to deliver the item.

Deciding since he would be on his feet to order a smaller item, she picked out a scarf. Placing the order and requesting delivery, all she could do was wait.

Coronet City. The capital of Corellia. It was a peaceful place to live. War didn't seem to touch it that often. Of course that didn't stop Kyla from wanting to get off the damned planet. He wanted adventure. So, he decided to get a secret side job that would get him the money he needed to hire a ship and take him far away. He didn't really care where he ended up, just that it should give him multiple opportunities to start a new life. Maybe he should take up smuggling and perfrom errands for the Galactic Alliance. Oh well. Anything's better than here.

Kyla was part of an average sized group called The Runners. The group was comprised of highly athletic Corellians that ran a sort of courier service. They delivered packages from one place to another. Most of the time it's rather common items, and some of the time, they are required to deliver high value items. The amount of pay each Runner who completes the delivery varies on type of package is delivered, on the condition of the package, and how fast you get it to the person who ordered it. It's a daunting task, and involves traversing on rooftops. Only the physically fit and able--bodied people could do it. One slip up can easily result in death. So yeah. It was a dangerous job, but it was worth it.

Currently, he was supposed to be delivering an item to a woman who had ordered it. It was a scarf, and it should be light enough so Kyla could get to his destination in due time. He pulled out a delivery slip from his back pocket whilest he was running. It showed the location of where he was supposed to take it and who he was supposed to take it to. It was a hotel by the name of The Comet and a rather prestigeous one at that. He was supposed to deliver it to a Jairdain Ismet. Well, he would be there in about 8 minutes. All she had to be was patient.

True to his word, Kyla made it to the hotel in the 8 minutes he thought he would be. The place was massive. It was 12 stories tall and he couldn't help but gawk. There was a revolving door with a Duros doorman standing by. Kyla approached him and said,"I'm to deliver a package to a Jardain Ismet who currently resides here." According to the slip, she was on the 6th floor in Room 201. The Duros nodded as he checked the slip and handed it back. He took Kyla up to the aforementioned floor and room. The man left and Kyla breathed in and out. He needed to recover for a moment. He reached up a hand to the door and knocked in a 5 tap rythym.

Sitting down in one of the chairs provided, Jairdain started meditating. She wanted to see if she could gain any clarity as to why this man would be so important. What it was about him that called her. What seemed like an eternity passed, but was only a few minutes, she heard the knocks on her door. Coming out of the meditation, she moved to answer the door.

When she first got into the room, she had hung her cloak up in the closet. When she opened the door, he would see her wearing an ivory colored top tucked into black pants. There were what looked like feathers just off her shoulders. A lightsaber clearly showed at her side. Not being able to see who delivered the package, she did lightly reach out with the Force to attempt to get a reading of him.

That was all it took, he was who had called her here. Now to draw him in, get him away from his line of work and to the Jedi. Giving him a nod and opening the door the rest of the way, she invited him in.

"Please come in. I am Jairdain and I believe you have a package for me."

Kyla stood on the tip of his feet anxious to be gone. Not that he didn't like meeting new people, he just had to complete his run, collect his pay, and head home for the day. His family could be concerned about his absence. He would even have to change out of his uniform into regular clothes. He waited for the customer to open the door and looked around to both sides of the hall. There were only a couple of people out of their rooms and one of them was leaning against a wall by the stairs and another one was looking out of the window. He had a nagging feeling in the back of his mind that he was being watched somehow, yet he pushed it away. He didn't need to bothered with such things. Just complete the delivery, get paid, and turn in for the rest of the afternoon. His boss was fairly lenient in time off.

A couple minutes passed and the door opened. Standing in front of the entryway was a raven haired woman wearing an ivory colored top tucked into black pants. Kyla didn't recognise the object dangling from her belt, but came to the conclusion that it must be a weapon of some kind. Even though he doesn't know what it's capable of. He felt a kind of....arua around her. He couldn't explain how. One thing that he did notice about her, was that she was blind. That made him uncomfortable about the whole thing somehow. He had a feeling that he should tread carefully around her. She nodded to him and opened the door as if inviting him into the hotel room.

"Please come in. I am Jairdain and I believe you have a package for me."

Kyla was surprised. He had expected to stay for a few minutes to complete the delivery and then leave, but he expected that he might be staying for a while. He scoped out the hotel room. Kyla didn't expect the room to be so simple. There was a bathroom on the right that's closed off and there was a closet on the left side of the room. There was a rather plain bed with white sheets and pillows on the right side of the room and what looked like a desk was under it. A holoscreen that was turned off was on the left wall of the room and a couch was a couple feet away from it. A closed dresser was also on the left. He turned to look back at the woman and unslung his bag which contained the scarf. He even pulled out the slip and took a quick look at it just to double check. Ok. Time to get to business.

"Of course. All I need you to do is sign this receipt and you're good to go."

Moving to the side to allow Kyla to enter after he had looked over the room to see there was nobody in hiding to mug or attack him. Closing the door, she lead him into the room proper. She knew why she had been called here. He could use the Force, but didn't know it. Now to figure out a way to tell him and not shocking him too greatly. At the age he was, having known nothing of the Force, he may deny it or try to run.

He started taking the scarf out of his bag and pulled up something for her to sign. Raising an eyebrow at him slightly, she shook her head.

"I'm sorry, but that I am unable to do. Being blind has certain limitations and I never learned how to read or write. Is there another way to say it was delivered?"

Her voice held some humor in it at first and then turned into a real question at the end. The fact she was physically blind didn't bother her and it should be clear to this man that was the case.

Kyla grinned in embarrasment. He didn't think of that. He was so used to havung others write their signatures on reciepts that it became second nature. He fished around for a DNA reader and held it out.

"Yeah. Sorry about that. There is a way. Here you go. A DNA reader. Just put your thumb on it, wait for a few seconds, and everything should be ready."

He could tell that Jairdain wasn't bothered by the fact that she was blind. If so, she must have had years to get used to it. Of course, he still felt that same arua surrounding her from before and he thought to himself,' What is this feeling I'm getting?"

At her reply, he apologized and rummaged around for a DNA reader to take the place of her signature. Accepting that from him, she did as he requested. Placing her thumb on the spot designed for it, a few moments later it emitted a small beep indicating it was finished taking the sample. Moving to hand it back to him, it slipped from her hands.

It was a starting test before she would deliver what she had to say. Jairdain had the feeling he already used the Force to allow himself to move faster and thought it was some sort of natural gift.

While the momentum wasn't great in her movement, at the end, she made a very small whipping motion to give it a little extra boost of speed. As she expected, he caught the device.

"Oh dear, I am so sorry about that. Nice catch though."

Assuming he put it back in his bag, Jairdain took a seat as she waited for him to get the scarf out for her.

"I think you have a potential give that should be developed."

He had never provided her a name to call him, but as his job was as a currier, he probably wasn't used to it. Waiting to continue until he heard what she said, she waited patiently.

Kyla stared at the device in his hands. He had not expected to catch it that ubruptly. He felt a bit unshaken for a minute. Kyla cleared his throat and put the DNA reader into his bag. He didn't hear the compliment Jairdain gave him because he was thinking about what transpired. He pulled out the scarf and handed it to her eager to be gone. He was about to leave when she mentioned that he had a potential gift that should be developed.

He turned back to the raven haired woman and just stared. "A gift? What gift? As far as I'm concerned, I don't feel any special as the next guy. Tell me, are you pulling a prank on me?"

Leaning forward, Jairdain placed her elbows on her knees and rested her chin on top of her hands. Her compliment wasn't noticed, but he was working at getting the scarf out and the reader put away. Handing it to her, it took him a few seconds for her next statement to click. He had started to move away, but turned around and asked what gift. Also saying he didn't feel like he was special from anybody else.

"Tell me, how well do you perform in your assigned tasks than the next guy?"

She expected the answer to indicate he did better usually than the others of his field.

Kyla thought about what she said for a moment. The only thing that he could think of was that he was faster. Of course he had tall legs and he was trained in combat and such, but he was faster than the most athletic of his group. Maybe that's what Jairdain's been hinting at.

"Weeell, I have always been faster than the others in my group. Could that be it?"

It was as if a light bulb turned on in Kyla's mind. Giving him a nod, Jairdain leaned forward slightly as she knew she had his attention.

"That speed is only the beginning of what you could accomplish. I'm not trying to tempt you with power, but with knowledge. To open a door for you and broaden your view. An opportunity to move past being currier and into something greater."

Her voice spoke with a conviction that she felt he needed to hear. In a way, maybe even sway him in the direction of wanting to know more. She didn't use the Force on him or attempt to coerce him to accept her offer. Hoping just her simple words were enough, she was prepared to demonstrate more if he wanted.

Kyla frowned. The woman was being cryptic with him. Opening the door and broadening your view? She said that she wasn't trying to tempt him with power, but what kind of power? Rather, she was trying to tempt him with knowledge. He didn't know what Jairdain was hinting at, but he did want to know more. Then again, unless Jairdain shows something of what she's talking about, he's not gonna buy what she's selling.

"Ok. I'll listen. First, can you demonstrate what you're talking about? So I know that you aren't bogus?"

Jairdain wasn't speaking clearly with a purpose. To some, if it was told they could use the Force they would run off scared. She didn't think that would be the case with him now she had his attention. As a very small but accurate demonstration, she reached out and lightly touched his mind to get his name.

"You already know my name, but you never told me yours. I am going to get your name from your mind."

While she had already done this, she didn't want to scare him off and gave him the warning of her action. Not once did she stop looking at him, close her eyes or even really blink beyond what a normal person would.

"Now, Kyla, you are able to use the Force. In time you might prove to have a great mental ability or you may be a fighter. However, you need to learn from the start with simple tasks such as this."

Lifting a finger, she would pull the chair out from the desk and then move it back into place.

"There is much more than simple parlor tricks, but here is not the place to show those."

Well, it looks like Jairdain wasn't crazy. He saw how she had moved the chair without even touching it. He felt shock momentarily when she mentioned his name, but then again, she was using the Force to pull it from his mind. He was thinking about what he could do when Jairdain mentioned that Kyla could be a grear fighter or have a great mental ability in time. She also mentioned that there were much more than parlor tricks.

Kyla was sold. He wanted to know more about the Force. He wanted to see if he can use it than just increase his speed. He crossed his arms and frowned for a bit. "Ok Jairdain. You had me sold. This is too good an opurtunity to pass up. Even if it is adrenaline inducing, my current job is boring. Where do we need to go?"

Taking careful note of Kyla's emotions, Jairdain relaxed when he accepted what she said and did. The fact she had been able to get his name out of his mind may have concerned him more, but luckily it hadn't. That was one thing she would teach him, how to keep his mind closed from people getting it too easily. It would come in time and he had a long way to go and much to learn.

Giving him the time he needed to digest her words and what she offered, Jairdain sat back on the couch. When he made his decision, she gave him a nice smile and pointed to his bag.

"Do you have any business to wrap up here? If not, I have a shuttle and we can be off. Starting with Voss. It is where the Silver Jedi reside and have their temple."

While she was blind, Jairdain could see things through the Force and that was how she knew where to point for his bag. Maybe she could even teach him to see with the Force. It wasn't something she had ever tried to do though.

Kyla looked down at the bag Jairdain was pointing at. That's right. He had to turn in his report on a successful delivery to the boss. Kyla looked back to Jairdain.

"Ah. As it turned out, this was my last delivery for the day. I just need turn in my report and that's it. After that's taken care of, I'll accompany you to Voss."
