The Cambria Incident (New Republic Dominion of Cambria)

Cambria was a world with a small impact in the galaxy's history, an agricultural planet with little to boast about in terms of material production or engineering feats. It was still necessary to feed the core though and its fields would help sustain the Republic's government for years to come. But that was not the only reason the Republic had come to the planet.

To the Senators, himself included, the planet was the key to getting to Anaxes but also to feed the planets. So the Senators of the Republic had been called on to undergo negotiations with the leaders of the Cambrian government. They needed to convince the Cambrian people that the Republic was there for good intentions and thankfully they had a member of the planet's government that wholeheartedly supported them.

The Imperials had sent their own representative too but in order to sabotage and eliminate the Senators that had come to secure this membership. They needed the planet to remain under their influence after all and with the battles of Dorsis and Corellia, they did not have the troops to force such an outcome.

That was why the SIS had called its agents to deal with these saboteurs, but also to deal with a research facility hidden in the nearby mountains, away from the eyes of the Cambrians and the galaxy as a whole. Their mission, should they have come to accept it, would be to relieve the imperials of their research in this facility, and to protect the Senators from assassins and enemy operators. As such, the Jedi were extended an invitation by the SIS to aid in the defense of these individuals.

Now all that was needed was for the missions to get underway.

That was why Alexander sat back in the chair of office provided for the Republic senators. Waiting for his peers to show if they so wished to aid in the meetings today and to help deal with the situation before them. Alexander could handle it on his own, but there were more experienced voices he certainly would need if he was to do this without a hiccup.

Objective 1: Attain the deal with Cambria to join the Republic. (Opposition is to stop this deal, or attempt the assassination of the senators.)

Objective 2: Protect the Senators from harm, as well as look for Imperial infiltrators

Objective 3: Steal the Research from the Research station in the mountains.

Hannah, The Cog Girl
Objective Two: Protect the Senators
Action: Patrol the rear entrance of the building

Bright red eyes stared steadily into yet another wall, Hannah paused for a moment as her sensors recognized the wall and soon after she turned around and walked back down the same hallway. There was no other living being aside from herself, Hannah had not really gave issue with her assignment, but the lack of other non mechanical beings provided little to entertain her curious mind. Her two Astrotech droids were granted to accompany her as apart of her detail since Hannah needed them to test out their new servos.

Hannah nodded approvingly at her two droids, they rolled around and she found acceptable to return back to the fleet as soon as her mission here completed. Perhaps it was her title of "Jedi", a title in name only really, or maybe she needed to obtain more experience of 'how' to properly interact with those who still posses more than thirty percent of their original body parts. Either reason, Hannah had never felt this sense of boredom since her early stages of her surgeries. And I was drugged for those couple of years.

When she had been given the mission, it had been of important clarification to her that her talents and abilities would be best suited for the rear entrance of the building. Hannah still thought it had to do with her 'aesthetics' as one of the guards had asked if her eyes always shone that brightly. This had been a new experience alright, and even as Hannah stepped in front of the same window in the same wall for the uptienth time she still could not answer that question.

Can I dim my eye's brightness?

Aithne leaned against the side of the mountain path, taking a rest and waiting in position for everyone in the strikeforce to be ready to go. She had made the way up to this point with a few others and their job was rather simple, get in and get the research without creating too much noise. Though, she was more than prepared when the mission went south and things got worse.

It wasn't that she didn't trust the plan, but she had come to know that backups were a necessity after living with her brother and father.

One other thing caught her focus and her eyes slid over to the woman who she had asked to come one the mission with her, smiling a small bit as she brought her hands up and breathed into them. Abigail was a strange person, especially for someone who was suppose to be a jedi. She always seemed unable to form a clear line of thought or to get highly excited and a bit confusing when she talked.

The woman did make Aithne interested though and seemed capable, so Aithne had asked her to join in on the mission with herself and a few other SIS operatives. This was a quick in and out job so the fighting shouldn't get too heavy... hopefully.

"Everyone ready?" Aithne looked at the others, waiting for their answer.

Objective 3
[member="Aithne Charr"]

Mountains.
Abigail liked mountains. Climbing them often presented a challenge, and once that challenge was completed you would be rewarded with a lovely view.

Ugh, focus. She was here for a reason. And that reason definitely wasn't to ponder about mountains...
Right, there was something about a base and something about stealing some kind of research from that base. To be completely honest Abigail had already agreed to come along before she had fully looked into what she would be agreeing to. It was weird, but she wanted to come along. After all, it had been Aithne who asked her, and Aithne had proven to have a bit of a... strange effect on Abby.

As she snapped back to then and there, Abigail noticed Aithne briefly looking at her, and automatically smiled at the girl before quickly looking away again herself. Why was she so awkward and random around the woman, she didn't know.

She gave Aithne a simple nod to show she was ready to begin their mission. She also knew that it would be in their best interest to act quickly- and hopefully quietly.

Alexander smiled as his colleague arrived, the man being one that Alexander had been unable to meet before this point. It was with that in mind that Alexander stood and started towards the Senator. He quickly extended his hand to the man and held it there, greeting the man with a smile and level voice.

“Senator Hork, correct? A pleasure to meet you finally and it is good of you to come help me with this. I am sadly not as experienced when it comes to situations such as this, those being peaceful meetings with peaceful intentions.” He was truthful in that statement, having started his career during the time of the Galactic Republic, during the time when war was the focus of the republic’s energy and it’s people.

He knew that things would not come without incident, not when the world was necessary to provide food for the core and hopefully for the Republic as a result. No just as the SIS had assumed, there would those who tried to harm those who had come to the meeting.

It was these such people that now watched Hannah and waited, wanting to make their move but not ready to do so. They needed to make the most impact possible and they needed to do the most damage that they could. Their movements changed quickly now, setting up so that they can assault either entrance should they be given the order, or ready to leave if something more important drew their attention.

Harley slowly strode through the hallway back to the main meeting chamber were the senators and other dignitaries were supposed to be gathering, carrying a small tray of biscuits and caf. The Balmoora senator was not sure why he was carrying such confectioneries back to the room, but halfway through waiting he had gotten a craving for the small snaky like food, though knew if he returned with non to share it may have come off as a little rude.

Coming to the door the small hiss of it's hydraulic could be heard as the Echani walked into the room, eyes spying the newcomer to the meeting. "Ah you must be [member="Senator Bobb Hork"] if I am not mistaken", he replied upon wandering over, setting the tray down in front of [member="Senator Bobb Hork"] before extending a hand to the older man, "pleasure to meat you, I'm Harley Fenstermacher, senator of Balmoora. "Though I do have to say, certainly a small turn out then I would have expected, though I guess this helps makes talks less chaotic, and yes the snacks are for everyone, just don't eat to many okay".

-- Tobias walked through the halls of the building, it was interesting to see this planet as not many records were kept of the planet. It seemed relatively developed and a main source of food goods for the Core Worlds with the onset of the blockade to the outer rim. The planet was becoming something the Republic desperately needed. He was only here as an observer and give the full weight of the Republic onto this matter. Ration Protest were happening in the new planets that joined the Republic, the Sith left nothing for the planets they raided and now it was slowly becoming the Republics fault.

-- He walked into the room with his arm cast and a sling to prevent the man from moving it too much. A recent sparing incident was the public announcement, but he was just flying in from the battle of Corellia and a shelling was too close. That was his story that was not in the public light.

-- The man walked to he fellow Senators and grabbed a biscuit from the tray, "Ah, I love a good biscuit before a diplomatic agreement." He chuckled a little as he looked at the rest of them there, "Afternoon Senators, any news on what the government here is asking in return for joining the Republic?"

Alexander was happy to see the newest of their group welcoming and ready to make this process proceed without issues. The last thing they needed was for one of those here to take a sour mood and stance with their guests. The planet’s people would be under significant worry if they were placed in the middle of the Conflict between the Republic and the warlord that resided on Anaxes. The efforts on Corellia, and the fighting on Dorsis would ensure they had examples to provide the Cambrian leadership that they would stand strong and protect those nearby and within the Republic.

Whether they joined the republic, or merely opened trade was another issue though, especially when there was the fact that the Cambrian people had yet to clarify what kind of deal they would give the Republic. For now, there was only trade and stronger relations on the table, anything more would need significant promises, and a physical show that would convince the Cambrians to join.

“Senators, Vice Chancellor, it would be good to inform you before hand of the current state of negotiations. The Cambrian people are in no rush to join the Republic. They have expressed no interest in such thus far and as a result I’ve only been able to convince them to open trade with us and even that is on shaky ground. I was hoping you presence would afford me with more options as far as promises go, especially your presence Vice Chancellor.”

The young man looked towards the other, curious to their words.

Hannah was rather in a mood, not any mood, but in a mood one she had little experience in expressing normally. She leaned back, her tail supporting her, and her arms crossed over her chest as she continued to process more information. Being alone had been a curse she had been forced to endure for quite some time, but it had been slightly dulled by the notion that she had no one to blame or even faces to pin any sense of hatred on for that matter. Or hatred to even use, or anything I can describe as anger.

One of the astromech droids whirled around to a stop and signaled that it had detected some strange frequencies, and as Hannah quickly approached the agitated the droid it stopped detecting the anomaly and resumed it's patrol. Hannah raised an eyebrow, slightly interested and began to switch frequencies bands on her Data-pad.

Hannah slid her left hand over her right forearm and her Astromech droids all stopped monitoring and scanning the surrounding area, now the two droids moved along further inside the building to patrol the many hallways. Don't want to spook anyone. Hannah guessed that perhaps someone was attempting the find a hole in this building's security. She wanted to catch the sniffer herself, and perhaps even ping a location to snuff out any possibility of an attack on this building.

As minutes rolled on, Hannah leaned back on her tail once more, else her tail would have slapped the floor repeatedly, not that such things hurt of course. Though she had been told more than once to not create unnecessary noises, her tail rather enjoyed making itself known whenever Hannah grew even remotely anxious.

Location: Mountains approaching Imperial Research Facility

Silent entry and data extraction. Textbook op, or so it looked like on paper. The reality was, in his current situation as an attache to the Republic team he was much more restricted in his movements. For one, having to act as a Republic Security Agent among his allies limited what he was able to do in a functional capacity.

He wore spacer's garb in the normal fashion and his lightsaber was nowhere to be seen. This time, his name was inconsequential- some garbled set of characters thrown together by Republic Intelligence to satiate the need for a disposable identity. He did wear a blaster on one hip for self-defense, but he could scarce imagine a situation that would require its use.

They were supposed to be going in quiet, after all.

Around the small group, the world was cooler and thinner, but Jerek felt a warmth in the Force- the sort of camaraderie between friends that he did not have with the two women just ahead of him. How they knew each other, the depth and nature of their relationship he neither knew nor intended to learn, but it meant they could most likely support each other if things went awry.

He took some comfort in that knowledge.

"I have your six," he informed them both curtly. No need to mince words unnecessarily. The less interaction, the better. "We can move in on your mark."

Harley did not hesitate to give [member="Tobias Dracks"] a small 'WTF' look as he snatched on of the biscuits without even a simple 'thank you', seemed politicians were all the same these days. Perhaps next time he'd poison the food and watch from the side lines as one by one they all died from ingesting such deadly toxins.... okay that was a little morbid, though not far off from something else he could do to play a small prank on them.

For now though the rather small group had to get down to business, pranks and revenge snacks could wait until the got back to Republic space. Wandering over to [member="Alexander Sannes"] the other Echani took a seat, hand folded as they went about discussing the current issues related to Cambria and it's people. "I think one of the main reasons for them not joining is no clear reason or instant benefit, for them the Sith and First Order are to far away to be of concern, the Republic to most is seen as another attempt at a Galactic Alliance and current internal problems don't help either".

"As per basic marketing, want a consumer to buy, give them something they want... or perceive that they want but do not necessarily need, but that is just my opinion on the matter, please, everyone else share your thoughts".

Aithne breathed in, seeing the others ready and not sure if this was enough to ensure the mission worked but there was little she coudl do now to fix those doubts. They had to get moving and standing around would only make things progress slower, especially when they had a timetable to work with before the Imperials were no longer distracted with the meeting that the Senators were having with the leadership of this planet.

So she nodded to the others, turned and started up the final path towards the research center. They needed to get a move on with time closing on their area of opportunity and with things going to move quickly down in the meeting with the planet's government. If that happened, they might miss their chance so it meant they had one shot at this.

Her hand weaved out and to the side as she breathed in and then let out her breath, coming from her mouth a trail of heated gas that became a ball of fire and blasting through the snow that covered the mountainside. The fire shot out and into the ground, creating from it a wall of steam and fog that began to expand and grow as she started walking forward with the others in tow. This fog grew denser the higher they went and the closer to their target they go. Aithne's focus on creating as much as she could and hiding their presence.

It was hard to keep this up, but she did so and would continue to until they got to the walls of the compound. Such a freak fog was sure to draw interest but it would keep the guards distracted and allow those that were with her the chance to sneak off to the side of the walls that would now be lightly watched and guarded. All Aithne needed to do was wait for them to get into the compound, then she could stop and do so herself.

Fire.
Why wasn't Abigail surprised. This really appeared to be Aithne's signature ability.

Ah well, she knew what she had to do. Using Aithne's creation as a distraction, Abigail moved towards the compound's wall. She would be lying if she said it wasn't an effective strategy, and she assumed Aithne had done this trick before.

There was a gate up ahead, but while Aithne's trick received a lot of attention, there still appeared to be a guard or two, so the gate was probably not an option. The only option which remained in Abby's head, was to scale the wall. She didn't really have the time to look for other ways, as she wanted to get in as quick as possible, so Aithne could rest sooner rather than later. Besides, she had scaled walls before.

The beginning was easy enough, a few uneven stones here and there gave her the ability to make it almost all the way up to the wall, but not completely. Just before she could reach the top, the walls seemed to be a lot smoother, and rather unclimbable, at least for her. She was good at climbing, but not thát good.

"Uhm," she sighed," little help? You know what to do. Boost me."

And with that she pushed herself upwards, but instead of falling back down, she stood still on something invisible for a brief second, before being pushed up further. This time she barely reached the top, and clung to it tightly, afraid to fall. After a bit of groaning she managed to pull herself over the edge and on top of the wall. There were a few guards patrolling it, but she would be able to keep them away from her and her allies for a while by using the Force. Through it she created new sounds everywhere, confusing the already nervous guards even more, so that their eyes were on their immediate surroundings, and not on the entrances to the compound. Hopefully this gave the others a brief window to enter as well.

Jerek Morrows

A Jedi's Life is Sacrifice.
He reached into his kitbag and produced a grapple and an attachment for his blaster to fire it. Jerek began affixing the launcher and loaded the hook, then fired after about a minute. The others already scuffled their way up the wall, but he could cover more ground and more quickly while they created a distraction. It seemed at least one of them was a pronounced Force Adept, the way she conjured heat and the subsequent smokescreen.

He heard the sound of footsteps and stopped short of the top of the wall. Biting his lip, Jerek waited for them to pass and heard coughing, muffled voices, and then yells from the guards. "Hey!" one of them called. "Was the weather report calling for this? Why didn't we get any updates?"

"Imperial Command doesn't care about a little fog," one of the other men replied, "and neither do I. Stay at your post, report back if anything relevant actually happens."

"Sir!" They were obviously bothered by ominous, preternatural sounds that permeated the mountainous terrain, and he observed the closest of them shifting uncomfortably at his station. "Kriff this," Jerek heard him mutter, "I've got to have a piss."

The guard jogged off clutching his gems as the Shadow lifted himself the rest of the way onto the rooftop, pocketing the grappling hook and holstering his blaster. He took a moment to glance across the area, staying low and out of sight. That data would be at ground level or lower, based on what Intel they had. He needed to move swiftly.

The Jedi moved forward as the distracted guards continued to comb their surroundings for any sign of what might be making the strange sounds, impeded by the thick fog that rolled in suddenly. He saw the guard furthest away from him and seized the opportunity. With a subtle wave of his hand, he whispered, "there's something out there."

"There's something out there!" the guard screeched in a panic, and he fired off several bolts from his blaster. The others turned quickly and rushed toward the far side of the wall, blasters raised. It also drew the eyes of guards below, which would make his descent that much easier.

Jerek rushed across the area crouched low. The stairs were within sight. A few more rounds of fire sounded off loudly before the Captain's voice came again. "Why did you discharge your weapon, private?"

"It's out there," the youth protested.

There. Scene created.

[member="Aithne Charr"] [member="Abigail Meredydd"]

Aithne, unlike the other two, was here for more reasons than just the research and as the soldiers moved to check out the scene that had been created, she reached the wall and grabbed a straggler. Her hand closed over his mouth and she shushed into the man's mouth. He was close to her size and that would help with her intentions, the marking on his chest being that he was an engineer of sorts, jackpot.

She breathed out and soon the man paniced, his lungs on fire as she held her hand over his mouth still. After only a few long moments though was he no longer moving and she let his body fall down from the wall and into the snow below, having been stripped of his uniform. A shift of her hand pulled snow over the corpse and she straightened the uniform on her body to make sure it looked correct.

[member="Abigail Meredydd"] and [member="Jerek Morrows"] had their mission and orders, along with any others that had come along. Aithne was charged with ensuring that this facility did not continue operations from her father, wiping out its personel and the building itself by any means necessary. That was why she pulled the cover she now worn down slightly and made way towards the generator building.

She hoped the others would not pester her with her location, as that would create a distraction and interruption she did not wish to deal with for now.

The blaster fire caught her a bit off guard, as she had focused on creating noises around the area, and not on keeping overwatch. However, she was quickly reassured by the Force that the blaster fire was nothing to be concerned about. It was merely a part of the distraction one of her allies created.

But there was something else, something Abigail didn't know how to think about. She had waited for Aithne to advance, keeping one of her sets of eyes trained on her, the entity's eyes, to be exact. What she was shown was... well, it was something Abby was doubtful about. Judging from her actions, and the fact she parted from the rest ánd the fact she walked away in another direction, dressed as a worker, who she had just killed, Abigail concluded that it was very likely Aithne was here for... different reasons than Abigail. Abigail trusted Aithne, she really, really did, but she was also aware that she didn't know much about the girl. Besides, she had been betrayed by friends she had known for years. Not that she expected Aithne to betray her, not at all, but she... just had to know what she was doing.
For their safety.

She called the Force closer to her, giving her extended vision up for a brief moment. "I'll be fine. Keep an eye on the girl, the one of the fire. Be sure she remains safe... and keep me updated about anything she does. Now, go"

If [member="Aithne Charr"] wanted to be left alone, Abigail had no reason to go against that, yet. Her best option was to group up with [member="Jerek Morrows"] , so that they could hopefully achieve their goal together. So, Abigail made her way towards her ally, making sure to stay out of sight for now.

Jerek Morrows

A Jedi's Life is Sacrifice.
Jerek watched with a stoic expression, albeit in obvious disapproval. The taking of life was not something he ever condoned, nor was it necessary for his own mission. He was in no position to chide the woman for her brazen murder however, nor was it his place to do so. It was obvious she was not a Jedi. Her actions were not subject to the same rules he lived by. He did not dwell on the act. The spirit of the guard would pass into the Force. There would be peace for him at last.

Not for the rest of them, though.

He pressed a finger to his lips and signaled to [member="Abigail Meredydd"] for silence as he concentrated, glancing down toward where the guards were gathering. Ten, maybe fifteen of them. Everyone was riveted to the panicked sentry as he argued in vain with his superior officer. "I swear I saw it move," the man thrust an accusatory finger toward the mist.

"There's nothing there," the sergeant growled. "Now get back to your post and stop stirring up discontent. What happens if there really are Intruders, and we're distracted?"

What happens indeed?

Jerek crept from his position and motioned for the woman to follow as he slipped behind them, unnoticed. "The rest of you," the officer called, "back to work! Don't let something like this keep you from your duties." There were grumbles of discontent as they began to return to their spots. In the Force, it was apparent boredom. Nothing ever happened this far out. Excitement was a rare treat. Rare enough that they never noticed the man who disappeared inside the compound without a trace.

Hannah, The Cog Girl
Objective Two: Protect the Senators
Action: Patrol the rear entrance of the building

Hannah stepped closer to one of the windows, her eyes focused brightly onto the view in front of her vision. Nothing but more buildings and alleyways littered across her eyes, of course movement had been reported a tad further away but Hannah had expected something by this moment. Either whoever or whatever searched the building for some weakness and was preparing or they had simply found the task too dangerous and back away. But, that would be quite wasted effort, to even risk the chance of being detected would certainly be committed by those with low self awareness or high levels of courage and stupidity.

The cog girl continued to inspect the area her vision afforded her, the astromech droids she had brought continued roam the hallways around her and detected nothing out of the ordinary. Hannah tapped her lips lightly with her fingers before she returned back to her small patrol and headed back to the rear entrance of the building. If any spot appeared easily accessible and target-able for an easy breach it would be the rear entrance she was guarding, and with the two droids now gone roaming the rest of the building. Well I look like a soft target for whoever is out there.

Hannah calmly leaned back on her tail once again, her arms crossed over her chest as she tried her best to meditate. Rather mixed results thus far, though she certainly felt certain that there was no option for to dim her eye's brightness. Maybe I can figure something out for that sometime.

-- He took a bite out of the biscut and was pleased at the texture and flavor, he looked at Senator Fenstermacher, "Complement to the chef,"

-- Move onward as he finished the snack he was pleased to hear what was being said, "These people were not very affected by the fall of the GA from what I have heard, being one of the few Agro Worlds in this Sector of space they were not a military target and the garrison here abandoned post to return home or join the Exiles, a few even joined our ranks." He looked for a place to sit and could not find a place so he continued to stand. "The Republic cant offer much that these people do not already have, unless there is something we have missed?"

-- He leaned against the wall to relax his tired legs, "What would the people of the planet thing of the Republic giving the planet Monopoly Rights to our Foreign Aid Supplies, with events like Commenor and Corillia recently happening, they would be in high demand for as long as the Republic expands, there is also the possibility to Subsidize the Farmland?"

Abigail did as [member="Jerek Morrows"] instructed, and approached him slowly and quietly.
After the sergeant had instructed the others to return to their posts, their attention to anything surrounding them had apparently faded. The momentarily surge of interest had left their minds as they all made their way back to their stations. She was a bit surprised by the sudden lack of motivation, but she was probably just supposed to be thankful.

'Don't give it too much thought', Abigail thought to herself as she saw her ally move towards an entry point of the facility. It was probably best if she kept up with him. After all, at least they were after the same thing today.

The path Jerek took was relatively easy to follow, apart from the last bit. Before Abby could follow in his footsteps, a guard strolled by, slowly, causing Abigail to have to wait until he finally passed before she could continue on. Once she had caught up with Jerek, she crouched next to him, looking at their current location. "You weren't just going to go in without me, were you?", she whispered with a friendly tone.
