Over a decade ago, Avali monitoring stations picked up a power surge in the Unknown Regions that rivalled the power of their own sun. In response, the Citalee Spacers Guild was commissioned to build a Science vessel capable of reaching and investigating. After much debate and political manoeuvring Xitli was chosen to lead the expedition. Despite knowing full well the commission was orchestrated by his political rivals he accepted on the basis that one does not simply refuse the Excan Tlahtoloyan.
Reverse Engineering imperial technology the Chico is one of the only ships in the Avali fleet to be equipped with a traditional Hyperdrive.
