It wasn't often Jonyna got personal calls for new paddies. So many passed through the grand doors of the temple, it was sometimes hard to keep track of them.

But she kept track of when her own kind did.

The news of a new cathar joining the order always had Jonyna excited. She loved her culture, her people, her language, just as much as she did being a jedi. To speak her native tongue, to anyone, was a gift. She swore someday she'd teach Jenn Kryze Jenn Kryze it, but that was a mountain for another day to climb.

For now though, Jonyna stood just outside the temple gates, at the top of the stairs. The starport was just far enough where padawans could walk a short while before reaching the temple.

Jonyna wanted to be the first one to greet this new arrival.

Jago kept his eyes ever watchful. Coruscant was much a different planet than his home on Cathar. That is to say his homeworld did not its grand cities. But in coming here, he traded a jungle of foliage and nature for one of duracrete and artificial structures.

The young man walked his way up the path to the Jedi temple. He silently hoped that this place was where he belonged. He was born with a power he did not understand, and was made to fear. The shadows of a father he did not know.

He found his way to the gate, presenting the guard with his identification. Yet, it was the next sight that caused him to take pause. The stoic teen soon found himself turning into a kitten at heart. Before him was his hero. The Sentinel of Harmony herself: Master Jonyna Si. His nerves broke some, and he walked over to her, bowing awkwardly.

“B-Bix túun, Jka'ansaj Si.” He spoke in his native tongue

His was a dialect, accented and provincial. The voice of a young man from the jungle tribes. His demeanor was one of nervousness and anxiousness. Teal, feline eyes flicked once more to the legend before him.

“I-I am....Jago Raar.”

Jonyna took a moment to listen, and process the boy's dialect. Still very much catharese, but a distinct tongue that she was unfamiliar. Still, she understood her own name, and a loose 'hello'.

"Bix, Yilzerpa Raar." She nodded, looking to the boy, speaking in her own Denik tongue <Was your trip well?>

Her own tongue was much more loose, though she knew his had to be from the jungle tribes, she'd heard version of it before, but never this one.

Jago was still in awe at the sight of the older Cathar. Literally before him was a legend of thr Clone Wars, whose stories were told to younglings in his pride many times over. His feline ears flicked as he honed in on her dialect. Denki was not something he was familiar witj, but it was close enough to Standard Catharese that he switch to that.

((“Oh, uh. Yes, Master Si.”)) He nodded, ((“Though, this place is much different than home.”))

His gaze looked around some. He still could not believe he stood on the grounds of a true Jedi temple. One with so much galact history at that. His eyes flickered a bit of uncertainty. If he truly belonged here. He was snapped out of it by electronic warbling behind him. A well maintained, but still vintage R4 unit.

((“Oh! This is M3.”)) He gestured to the droid, ((“Please excuse him. He is a bit older, with a cranky personality that seems to be stick despite the recommended data wipes.”))

The droid intoned in a way that gave the impression of a cantankerous old mechanic. The brown droid nonetheless stood by his master. Jago stood in awkward silence a moment. He felt almost embarrassed.

((“Sorry. This is a lot to take in all at once. I am unsure of where to find my assignment regarding dormitory and all that.”))

By the Force, he felt like a jabbering kitten who just mwt their favorite Huttball player

Jonyna chuckled at the boy's excitement. She remember when she first arrived, looking at the temple in awe. She wasn't sure what the padawans were taught these days, but it was clear the boy looked up to her. Not exactly surprising, the Cathar had memorialized her on the murals on Ran Dom Kuun.

<You can stay with me, if you want. I was wondering if you'd want to, but that's up to you. Take me on as a master, find a home on my ship. I just hope you don't mind a few others staying there. My former padawans still pop by every so often, and my fiancée Jenn Kryze Jenn Kryze also stays with me.>

She'd introduce him to the other residents as well soon enough. Better to not overwhelm the boy.

It was with that offer that Jago became speechless. Oh, there were words attempting to be formed, but they were nonsensical at the moment. M3 warbled again, giving something of an annoyed chiding at his master. The poor younger Cathar seemed to be malfunctioning some. And the droid believed in a good, old-fashioned kinetic restart. A stun tool popped from the droid's chassis, setting on low, before zapping the jungle-born cat with a light shock. Jago yipped before coming to his senses.

((“Lousy droid!”)) He growled before once again facing Master Si, ((“I'm most humbled by your offer, Master....”))

There was some hesitation in his voice and posture. On one hand, his heart wanted to so desperately jump on the fact to join the legendary Jonyna Si on her personal vessel, and be her padawan. Yet, the nagging voices of his past creeped into his head. Was someone like him truly worthy of such an opportunity? Teal eyes flicked back to the Clone Wars veteran before him. He gave a simple nod to her.

((“If you'll have me, Master.”)) He bowed to her, ((“I do not wish to burden your shipmates with my presence is all.”))

And there was the first of many things to confront on the road ahead. The lifetime of doubt and questioning of worth that burrowed into his head, like poison in a chalice.

<Of course. Would you like to see my ship? I can help you pick a room.>

To her, it was that simple. Simple enough to take on a new cathar padawan, teach him the ways of the Force, and show him how to fight the good fight.

She did wonder what this poor boy had thought of him. She saw anxiety clouding him, but she could help with that by instilling confidence. The first step, would be making him comfortable.
