Description:

Govoldeim was once one of the greatest structures to grace the world. The vanity project of a long since dead Jarl, Govoldeim's structure is magnificent to behold, and possibly the most defensible spot in Solein. While tales of its greatness are still spoken of to this day, the truth of the matter is somewhat saddening. The current Jarl, Rinteis - dubbed the Craven by many within the Citadel, of course not to his face - upheld the tradition of keeping Govoldeim closed off from the rest of the world, however moreso than this he has allowed it to fall into a state of disrepair.

Rinteis is barely seen outside of the Throne Room, a withered old man plagued with insanity and cloaked in corruption. In his youth, Rinteis had studied with the Order of Dusk, until his Father's untimely death, and responsibility called him from his chosen path. Since then the darkness began to set, and Rinteis' disinterest in the Citadel led to very little being done. With no real Leader, the Citadel has turned into a difficult place to reside, with an every man for himself mentality.

Parts of this once great structure have begun to crumble, and while the exterior remains whole and solid, some rooms have been forsaken entirely. One such room is that which houses the Throne, where Rinteis wastes away and few dare to disturb him. In secrecy votes have been held to elect the next Jarl, being that Rinteis has no living heir, and while the people dream of the day a true leader steps up to the Throne, the future of the Citadel waits on the day Rinteis ceases to be.

The once Grand Throne Room may have lost its glory, but one of Govoldeim's saving graces still remains. The Glass Gardens, home to an abundance of wildlife for medicinal and nutritional purposes, are more bountiful than ever. The people do not hunger, which keeps morale up and provides a good enough incentive for people to remain and for the doors to stay locked.

All in all, Govoldeim is, for all intents and purposes, a complicated little self contained City State. While the High King still disputes its independence from the Eastern Province of Irkiir, the self-sustaining traits, and the high defensibility of the Citadel, allows for things to run their course, as they have for centuries. The people are happy in their ignorance of the outside world.

History:

Govoldeim was created centuries prior to the Expansive War. As previously mentioned, it was the vanity project of Jarl Gûldrun the Builder and completed by his Great Grandson Jarl Frea the Proud. For centuries their bloodline governed the Province of Irkiir from their Grand Seat, high within the Mountains of Daamias, with people flocking from all over Solein - and even neighbouring planets - to find work, shelter, and a place among a rising star.

During the wake of the Expansive War, the site was deemed so defensible that the High King himself chose to take it up as his residence, keeping his Noble Family safely away from the horrors which occurred down below.
