Demonsgate System, Kathol Rift
On the edge of the Galaxy lies the planet of Kal'Shebbol. Most wouldn't give it a glance, let alone any interest. Kal'Shebbol is unimportant. What it possesses, however, is of great value. In a cunning move, months in the making, pirates of the Outer Rim have blockaded the far end of the Rimma Trade Route. Though only active for a brief time, their blockade has diverted the course of their plunder. The burgeoning group known as the Outer Rim Syndicate has kept its ear to the ground, and learned of the merchant convoy planning to leave from Kal'Shebbol, bound for the core worlds, loaded with refined metals and a veritable fortune of credits.
Word has spread like wildfire across the Outer Rim's disreputable freeports, and a pirate fleet has amassed. Some hope to aid other crews and partake in the spoils together, some seek to take the plunder all for themselves, and others wish only to strike fear into the hearts of the galaxy's governments. Whatever their goal, the rare occurrence of the such an ambitious fleet is worthy of galactic attention.
Forcing the helpless convoy through the Kathol Rift, the pirates have sprung their trap at Demonsgate. Through the haze of the nebula, the convoy is suddenly beset on all sides. A high-powered distress beacon is activated, but if the pirates are lucky they'll seize the valuable cargo before anyone can arrive to stop them.
On the bridge of the Hammerhead-Class Crusier Hydian Jewel, the chief architect of the trap is observing the battle. The massive form of the Dread Pirate, Captain Grindo Sedog, towers over most of the bridge crew. Soon, he knows, it'll be time to board their victims. If Sedog had his way he would never miss the chance to take his crew on a raid, leading from the front of course.
His mechanical hand, strudy but of inferior quality to the market standards, whirred as he pressed it against the railing, looking down into the pit of officers below him. He trusted that his men had it from here, and they trusted in return that he would bring them their share of the credits.
He turned to his quartermaster, his second in command, a surly Rodian who stood at the side of the room. "Bring us in nice and close... and ready the boarding crafts."
The Rodian nodded silently. Sedog took one more glance into the void before he exited the bridge. The dark mists of the nebula were lit up like fireworks as the pirates barraged the enemy ships, and even each other. It bloody chaos, and pure, unadulterated liberty at its peak. The rest of the galaxy was soon going to know who the outer rim belonged to... and it wasn't them.
OOC NOTE:This thread is run by the Outer Rim Syndicate minor faction, but its wide open to any pirates or spacer looking to make a profit, and maybe join the Syndicate. Boarding action and fleeting are both possible here. My hope is that we can also get some opposition from anyone who feels up to the task of hunting the pirate fleet. Narrative-wise the ship is bound for The Galactic Alliance, and maybe somewhere else after, though this is not expressly an attack on any one faction, and however many that feel like it are more than welcome to come and write with us.
