OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To give myself and other writers an in-universe excuse to use phrases like "Freudian slip" in characters' dialogue. NB!: While there is a comedic element here, this is not a "joke sub"; I legitimately want to be able to reference this in-universe.

As much as I love this here... and I do understand that you are serious, there a few issues with this submission.

1. No Crossovers | While this is not a crossover of some other fictional universe this is definitely trying to bring a real to life, historical person, into the Star Wars universe. The only difference in the name of the person is an apostrophe. If that were the only issue here I would just ask that you come up with an original name and be done. After all, there is nothing against bringing a Rodian Psychologist into RP. This is just a bit too on the nose.

No cross overs. All submissions need to conform to the general idea of Star Wars. No Gundams, no Transformers, no Pokemon etc.

This is the rule which applies here. The issue at play is this needs to fit into the general idea of Star Wars which your intent seems to indicate that you just want the term Freudian Slip without actually making it conform to the universe.

This leads to...

2. No Earth Terms | Freudian Slip, I believe, classifies as a specific earth reference.

Don't use specific Earth references as shorthand instead of explaining something. Ex. 'Japanese culture,' 'Medieval Europe', etc.

3. Plagiarism | The works you cite are lifted directly from Freud's works. As I looked over the wiki link you provided some of them aren't even renamed, they are copied directly over. While this may or may not cover the exact definition of plagiarism, this definitely borders close to it, too close for my comfort.

Plagiarism will not be tolerated. Small excerpts may be included from other sources in a sub, but they must include a credit, link, and be clearly marked.

I truly hope you understand where I am coming from here. Honestly I got a good laugh out of the idea, and I think there is room for something like this in the Codex to get to the desired result you have. It just needs to be more Star Wars.

This is what we can do. If you are truly set on something like this, then you can re work it. This would entail:
  1. Renaming the Psycologist
  2. Eliminating earth terms
  3. Generating an original list of works which conform to the general idea of Star Wars
  4. A more detailed history which explains more about this person and why they are prominent in the galaxy.
Obviously this is what I would prefer to see you do.

The other options are, we can archive this and just move on, or if you truly want to try and push this through as written I can make a decision based on the issues I have listed above which would likely lead to a denial. Of course you would have the option of a second chance if that were the case.

Let me know what you would like to do here.
