Let's talk about something that needs to be formerly addressed. Well at least I believe it needs to be addressed. So you might want to sit down because this is going to be heavy. Are you sitting down yet? Okay I can start now. Age, it's a important thing in this galaxy there are people who are immortal, well seasoned, middle aged, young adults and even children in the role play community. But I want to talk to you guys about something in particular that has been really pushing my buttons in terms of what I see here. Now I know I can't tell people how to RP their characters and I can only make suggestions. But the big thing that has been bothering me are all the 18 to 21 year old Darths and Masters running around. I personally don't believe that a person should be a dark lord of the sith and proclaim themselves a "Darth" at that young of an age. Oh behold my power I'm eighteen year old Darth BadGuy. I just can't take them serious I'm sorry, even worse is that people sometimes proclaim themselves as Darth whatever even at apprentice or knight rank. If you are going to be a Darth at knight rank you better be the saltiest of knights THE SALTIEST.

We have all these young prodigy children who are masters of the force at young ages, when things like this took years and years to learn and even control. I get you want to be young and ready for whatever but at some point we need to realize that mastering the force is something that can't be done at the age of 21. To help reinforce my point when Skywalker was proclaimed Darth Vader before the whole mutilation business. Did you really see him as a Darth? With his hair and constant whining. I didn't take him serious and I only saw him as Darth Vader once he was put into the suit. Yes the suit is iconic for the man and really that is the character. But I think it helps show that you should have some age on you if you are going to take on that kind of responsibility.

Be realistic with these sorts of things, force lightening takes years and years to master and yet you see characters who are twenty one twenty two using it like it's going out of style. I'm beginning to rant now and I apologize for those who are still with me. I think my biggest issue is just force users in general in the role playing community. It is rare you see people be older and be masters. Every master you see is usually fit toned and young. It just gets tiring to see that everyone is a prodigy child and mastered the force at 21 or 18. I have no right to tell any of you what to do or how to act, but if you read this I'm asking you to take one piece of advice. Age your character a bit as they grow stronger in the force. These things don't come overnight ICly. They take years of practice and training. You don't have to be old and grey at the end of it, but you should be able to tell that they have been there and done that. Thank you for reading and I hope you found some of this helpful.

Sarge is 31, greying from stress and without any sort of capability to maintain an emotional connection with people because... well, I don't even know.

But he's sacrificed a good deal of himself to get where he is, and he knows it.

You, of course, remember me RPing him when he was 19. He had the makings of someone good down the road, but he didn't have the experience... so he rarely finished a mission while conscious and without injury.

I know how you feel. Ashe is only good at pyro abilities and she's actually 57.
Saera is the only character I'd call "prodigal" in my lineup, and that's only because she's the Sithspawned daughter of a Dark Lord(Lady) and a Pyro chieftain. She's the legitimate identical hybrid clone of the two.
People just like playing 'badasses.' One can either look past it, or not roleplay with said characters.

Age. Great topic but I'm going to approach it from a different perspective. I'm not going to say "What should be." I'm going to share my perspective of "What is."

What is Age?

Age is the fervor of youth that propelled me into Roleplaying. When I started Roleplaying I was 21 years old. I was young. This is paramount to my story because I had never been older. When I was 21, I had never been 22. ...Now, that sounds strange. But it's true. I was 21 years old and everything I knew happened after 1986. This, was my world. I grew up watching Power Rangers and Tom & Jerry cartoons. I started High School with a Dragonballs Z backpack and still had ache scars when I created my first RP character. I was 21 years old. And for the life of me, I couldn't fathom myself to ever grow any smarter, any stronger, any sexier, and any less powerful. I was 21 years old. And I ruled the world.

I'm not 21 years old anymore guys. I'm karking, karking old now. Haha. And surpise it to say? I'm actually a little bit smarter, a little bit stronger, a little bit sexier, and just a little bit more humble. ...Well. Maybe not humble? But you get the point. I aged. And I grew stronger.

Why is this important? Well... Probably because until I was closing in on my 30's, I never learned to appreciate being any older than 18 or 21. I had never been any older and I couldn't see a single reason why I wanted to be. Oh yes. All of my RP characters? They were 18 and 21 too. And why wouldn't they be? I didn't know any better. I didn't WANT any better. I was 21 and all I wanted, I had. Celeste la vie. Such is life and the folly of youth.

But I'm old now guys. I'm karking, karking old. And guess what? My RP characters got older too. They aged just like I had. They grew with me. They got smarter and stronger too. Heck, I might even one day make a 60 year old human and rp him. ...But I won't. Because why would I want to be 60?

...Well. Maybe one day I'll be 60. And I'll tell you how it goes. *wink* :D

Never judge a writer because all his characters are just 18. They might just be older than he is? And how scary is that. Haha. JK. We love you 15 year olds out there. No better age to start having fun and stretching those RP wings. Good on ya.

Cheers Dredge. Another great topic. :)

Stretching that a tad, arn't ya?

Only one true Dark Lord in dis house.

*Idly rubs necklace effigy of the Voss Dark Lord*

But I digress.

Kaine is 49, which for his species isn't all that old, but his physical form is far older than it should be. Why? For the glory of Satan of course! Because for decades he has been abusing the Force, immersing himself in the Dark Side to the point where it began to have adverse side effects on his body. Power comes at a price, and those prices are the mind, body and soul, all taking some form of damage from the power that comes from using the Dark Side.

In RL, I'm 19, yet I prefer to write characters much older than myself. Maybe I like to envision myself in my prime, or maybe I just like characters with experience.

Idk. :p
