The Crown Jewel

Of all the planets that Baros hoped to gain a foothold in, Empress Teta was the most strategic. Its position in the Deep Core was not conducive to many people seeing his brand via visiting the location and seeing it first hand, but Empress Teta was somewhat of a cultural evangelist among the planets of the galaxy. Where Coruscant had for so long been the political heavy weight it was Empress Teta that allowed culture to flourish and from their propagate to the worlds beyond. It was really the crown jewel of the fashion industry. You could be big in Corellia and unheard of on Empress Teta, this was where Baros found himself.

Among the party of the night, Baros was potentially the least known face, but he had not remained that way. His smile had been flashed, his charms had been revealed, and he had done his best to impress at least his face into the minds of those in attendance. This was ground work for something in the future. It was not going to be a one night deal. There were people that were less interested in speaking to him than others though, his Corellian accent giving him a certain instant arrogance in the mind of some. He did however manage to win over more than a few people, and even made a few legitimate contacts.

As the night began to wind down, it became more and more clear who the real movers and shakers were in the room. Some people could simply not walk a pace or two without their attention being grabbed by someone. There were also those who seemed to know fashion better than others, trendsetters, daring people that stood out. Baros simply sat back and watched them from a seat upon one of the many balconies. He had actually found this time more beneficial than anything else, just watching and observing how people interacted. It seemed like a waste of time to some, but people watching was indeed a wise investment of time.

Over time, he started to note one young woman stand out above the rest. She was clearly dressed well, her red hair being surely more difficult to design for but the designers had done well. He smirked. Yes, she was one he needed to get. For now though, he would wait. She was preoccupied.

Parties and Lily Kuhn were almost synonymous with each other between the rich elite of Empress Teta, the missing Empress' daughter and heiress having attended nearly every major ball, party, and dance since she was able to fit into a dress and walk. This was the first year, however, that she had attended one without either of her parent's supervision - both recently presumed dead after a terrorist attempted an assassination of all higher-ups in Titan Industries - and she was most certainly on her lonesome as far as the remainder of her family was concerned. Her twin, Rose, was likely far from the social conventions of Cinnegar and her elder sister, Lisette, was likely out and about killing sithspawn or antagonizing the Sith, while she was mingling with the 'proper' crowd. When it came to her manner of dress it was clear she had not simply walked out to a higher end store to purchase a dress fitted to her figure, and if someone had asked her about its origins she would have been more than delighted to explain the materials put into the dress and her partial assistance in the designing of it. It was, indeed, one of a kind made to match the specifications of the Kuhn heiress, and she was reaping the benefits of having such a large crowd constantly hovering nearby - some even offering drinks.

As for those in attendance at the party, it was absolutely obvious that Lily had not brought along her own friends. It was a well-known fact that when her parents, the security blanket for the rich socialite and her troupe of sorority sisters that attended college with her, had been declared to be killed by the Sith that her closer friends had been slain almost immediately thereafter before she'd even heard the news of her parent's supposed death. They weren't interconnected, and she assumed the killing was an attempt at blackmail gone wrong. For the first month or so after all of this misfortune it had been heavily publicized by the media and tabloids of Cinnegar that the young royal had entered a heavy depression and secluded herself to the Kuhn manor, which held some truth. As for the rest of the attendees, Lily knew hardly any of them outside of the woman that ran the company she now owned and operated during the period between her mother's death and the transfer in ownership to her. Several dozen members of the Krath, as per usual, also showed up if only to try to worm their way into her 'good books'. A simple wave and smile suited them enough, and most everyone on Koros knew that the teen would be practically wordless in greeting unless she intended to actually socialize and invite one into her small circle of friends - which at the moment was incredibly small, considering she had hardly a handful of people she could refer to as such.

Lily, of course, was standing nearly alone now in the courtyard behind the main hall that held the festivities, watching the star filled sky absent-mindedly after having parted ways with the majority of the party.

As Baros rested his elbow upon the vine covered balustrade, he contemplated how people's lives became interwoven with one another. It was a petty and brief contemplation. Fate was of your own making, but he would never drive the musings away completely. There was some benefit to it, but minds were usually best spent in the real world.

He had walked out into the courtyard a few moments before, knowing full well that the red head was there. He did not approach her, nor even acknowledge her presence for a time. He simply admired the view. The gardens then city beyond sprawled wondrously. Empress Teta was indeed a luxurious planet, a place well worth him investing in. Perhaps it would be an option for moving his main base of operations as well.

He finished off his beverage, before turning and walking past the open doors to the courtyard. As he past he signaled a waiter her stopped and came Baros' way. The flute was placed on the tray. "Thank you," Baros said, making himself known to the red head by those words, if he had not been noticed already.

"I am surprised how clear the Monument to Lost Navigators is from here," Baros said as he slowly paced, arms behind his back, towards the red haired jewel of Cinnagar.

He stopped walking by the balastrude again, this time a few meters to her left. "They say that the number of people who died venturing into the core in search of Koros numbered in the thousands...seems only fitting that this grand world honour those that died in its founding."

"Truly makes you appreciate what you have, wouldn't you say?"
