DESCRIPTION
To live by the Sword is to die by the Sword. Such was the way of things. There was no Force in the Galaxy that was ever capable of changing that seemingly immutable and fundamental law of nature. Thus, there were cultures who populated the stars - each brandishing their own take on the bladed weapon that would either allow them to live or die by another's whim. While the Jedi evolved to become masters of plasmatic blades that could cut and slash through almost anything - the Mandalorian people found themselves preferring something that would put a bit more weight behind their swings. And so, the Mandalorian Sabre was born - called Beskad in their native tongue, which translated into Galactic Basic as “Iron Sabre.”

While their origins were shrouded in mystery, as there were multiple claims to their storied ancestry, what made these weapons dangerous to even the Jedi and their mystic arts - was that their blades resisted the plasmatic fury of their Lightsabres. They allowed a Warrior to effectively combat a Jedi Knight on even footing before the Sorcerer’s mastery of the Force wormed its way into the fight and tipped the scales in their Wizardly favour. Nevertheless, these blades gave the Mandalorian Warriors the confidence they needed to combat the oppressive dogma of the Jedi. Through their ingenuity and the Beskar alloy in their arms and armour, the Mandalorian people once shook the very foundations of the stars - nearly bringing even the vaunted Galactic Republic to its knees.

However, the will of the many outmaneuvered and overpowered the will of the strong - and the Mandalorian people were consigned to live within the confines of their Home Sector as a shattered, and defeated people. Yet, despite these depressing tales - the Beskad remained steadfast and unyielding. It even became a symbol of the Mandalorian’s martial prowess, just as a Lightsabre was for the Jedi and their kind.

With such stories in hand, the Forgemasters of the Death Watch found themselves at an impasse. Beskar was, once again, one of the rarest alloys in the galaxy - having been stripped and plundered by the myriad Interstellar Empires that came and went. They desired nothing more than to outfit their Warriors with traditional weapons - to further legitimize their claims to ancient titles now perverted by the ignorant and misguided. Yet, such a day wasn’t within sight, and it was too dangerous to let their Warriors go into battle underequipped. So, proverbial shortcuts had to be made, and materials had to be replaced. Although the blade would be of lesser quality in the eyes of Beskar Forgesmiths - the Death Watch did the best they could with what materials they had on hand.

Thus, the Crusader’s Sabre was born.

It was a blade that was forged with several technological advances woven into the folded layers of tempered steel. Not only was the Crusader’s Sabre a potent weapon when unpowered, but when activated by its Wielder - the Sabre was capable of cutting through even the most stubborn of opponents. The first option that was given to the Warriors of the Death Watch was the tried and true technologies that surrounded Ultrasonic vibration - the very foundations of Vibroweapons used for countless centuries. The generator, alongside several other additions to the blade’s construction, allowed the weapon to vibrate at ultrasonic frequencies which turned even the lightest touch into a fatal blow.

While they could’ve merely enhanced the Vibrosword’s lethality through several attachments, the Forgesmiths believed that more needed to be added. The second functionality came from pilfered Kyuzo technology, which added a dangerous plasmatic filament into the Blade’s honed edge. This filament bladed the edge in a magnetic field that contained superheated plasma, which mimicked the weapons of the Jedi - to a point - and allowed the Wielder to cut through a plethora of items with relative ease. Naturally, this potential was inhibited by the item they were cutting into - as the blade held varying measures of success that were determined by the item in question. Nevertheless, one would hear a Warrior of the Death Watch complain - as their weapon’s lethality only skyrocketed from there.

Now, what made the Crusader’s sabre truly unique, was that it was outfitted with integrated energy projectors - which took the lethality of the Kyuzo plasma-filament and allowed for that magnetic sheathe to wholly encompass the blade. While it was nothing like a Jedi’s weapon in terms of being able to cut through almost everything, this plasmatic blade would nearly rival that ancient symbol of that Order of Sorcerers. Meaning that with enough time, the Crusader’s Sabre could carve its way through most opposition - and even go as far as parrying the strikes from a Lightsabre. In an age dominated by Sorcerer’s brandishing laser-swords, that was enough reason alone to justify its inclusion, especially the fibres of Cortosis that were woven into the blade’s structure.

With the Crusader’s Sabre in hand the Death Watch and their Crusade would reclaim their stolen legacy, and force the galaxy to remember the sins they’ve wrought against the scattered Sons and Daughters of Mandalore over the years.
