The Crystal of a Sith.

Thanks to [member="Darth Ophidia"] , the Sith Lord Darth Ferus could finally move forward with his own plans. The lightsaber was a signature weapon of any Sith or Jedi, but most Sith preferred their power in the Force to the blade. This didn't sit well with the Iridonian in human skin, as his life started with a sword in hand. To create the ideal crystal was the goal, and within the entrance to the Sith Temple he would wait. Ferus was dressed in simple Sith attire, a black robe. One lightsaber resided on his waist, the golden one as any could expect, and the signature weapon of his own order, the Hidden Blade, resided on his left wrist.
Three like minded individuals would meet him here to begin such a task as the one he had in mind. They would create their crystals side by side, making them unique to them alone, but powerful beyond the normal capabilities of any Sith. [member="Darth Veles"] , Lord Inquisitor of the Sith Assassins. Within this position, he oversaw the hunting and execution of One Sith Traitors. [member="Darth Ophidia"] , the Pale Assassin, leader of the stealth aspect of the Assassins, and [member="Darth Venefica"] , creator of the Covenant of the Black Rose, and voice of the Dark Lord.
Together, they could make something truly fear inspiring.

Creating a powerful lightsaber crystal, one perfected by a group of Sith Lords to be used as a heart of a lightsaber to slay any and all enemies of the Sith, such task’s been laid before them. Very challenging, but also very rewarding. Truth to be told, the Mon Calamari Sith Lord known as Darth Veles had yet to stop the old lightsaber crystals encased within the curved hilts dangling from his belt; one crystal created by himself, the other a gift from his beloved Master, a Togruta Sith Witch who had given him so much. For years, the amphibious assassin jealously treasured the gift as the most valuable and sacred of his possessions, his old mentor’s presence radiating from the crystal always working as a soothing balm on his mind and body. Sometimes when Avreet closed his bulbous amber eyes, he could almost believe the greatest of all Sith Ladies stood right beside him, all the time, watching over her favourite apprentice and helping him eliminate those who stood in his way to achieving the Sith dream.

Even now, as Avreet soundlessly paced towards the gloomy entrance to the Sith Temple to meet up with others, his webbed claws absent-mindedly gave one of the hilts a gentle stroke, his former teacher’s signature responded almost instantly by washing over him like a soft breeze before dissipating into the Force, mixing with the Dark Side that filled the majestic building and its surroundings. Avreet himself was no experienced alchemist – the lesson he had learned from Taeli encompassed little more than the standard hardening of metals and creation of Sith blades. He desperately wished for [member="Dux Zarrah"] to join them in their quest. The Sith Witch was the most powerful Force user he had ever met, her knowledge of alchemy greatly surpassing that of any other Sith dabbling in the mysterious arts of creating the deadliest of tools. The Mon Cal had decided to give the exotic Sith Lady something in return for the crystal and years of training she had kindly given him, the greatest present one Sith could ever give to another he loved so very much; a lightsaber crystal forged by his love and passion as a way of displaying his affection for her, a thank you for everything she had done for him.

With the hood of his black robe covering most of his face features and leaving nothing but the Sith Lord’s stone cold expression bathed in shadow visible, the amphibious Mon Calamari looked at others, several whiskers on his chin wriggling in accordance with the large head’s movement. He said nothing, staying silent, listening as always, coldly eyeing [member="Darth Ferus"], [member="Darth Ophidia"], and [member="Darth Venefica"].

With fluent steps, nearly soundless against the stone floor, Darth Ophidia entered the Sith Academy. Her black robes swayed with each and every one of her graceful steps as she nearly glided over the floor. She was too clad in simple robes, carrying only one distinguishing mark in the form of a blue diamond pattern trailing down the back. Boots peeked out from under the hem of her skirts, and a wide hood concealed most of her features. However, upon entering the room, she pushed back her hood with both hands. Ophidia's bald head emerged, her pale skin complementing her irises as burning embers in ash. Once, they had been a cold, grey, but now they could no longer hide her affinity with the dark side of the Force. It was a fact she had not only accepted, but one she relished in.

Though she was newly appointed a true Lady of the Sith, she stood between giants in this endeavour; three experienced Darths who had earned their titles. Ophidia would not provide them with any cause to see her as lesser. Still, she had not come to show off to the other Lords and Ladies, no they were there to create a weapon most fearsome. Perhaps it was Ord Mirit that had brought them together in the quest for this power. Or perhaps they simply shared a common interest in the value of a good lightsabre. To Ophidia, it was one of the many steps in creating a new lightsabre for herself. One that would prove far more hardy than its predecessor.

Very few places in the galaxy held disdain in her heart, but all Sith Academies filled her heart with such a feeling. She hated the teachers, their teachings, and the general overall lack of churning out proper, true, and adequate Sith Acolytes. However, it was not her crusade to cull the heard of teachers or the failed Acolytes who called themselves Sith but had no true understanding of what it meant to be Sith. So when she entered the Academy, she put on a faux smile and strolled through the enclosed structure to meet the others.
If not for the opportunity to create a personal lightsaber crystal, one she had already mediated on and now knew what she was seeking, there was no way she would faithfully step inside another Academy; where she had repeatedly fought down her anger to eradicate the spoiled souls that now inhabited the places in the past. Granted she had chosen Apprentices in the past from such structures, but those were special cases. Each one had possessed something that drew her to them. Now she felt nothing as her form glided across the floor.
As tradition would dictate, she was once again the last to arrive and quickly fell in with the others. Her eyes darted through the other Lords and Lady, waiting for one of them to speak. This was not her major project so she was not required to take the lead regardless of where she stood in the pecking order, but she had delegated herself to a more pleasurable role. A role that would give her free reign to create her crystal.
[member="Darth Ferus"] l [member="Darth Veles"] l [member="Darth Ophidia"]

"Good, good. You're all here." The man who began it may as well be the first to speak. Ferus's golden eyes flashed between [member="Darth Veles"] , [member="Darth Ophidia"] , and [member="Darth Venefica"] as a smile played onto his lips. Each had there own reason to be here, but they were here none the less. Such was the way of the Sith after all. Do what will assist you in the end.

"I've asked you here for a task. Darth Ophidia here constructed none other than the one machine needed to create our own crystals on Hoth. I figure if four lords and ladies create crystals there, they will be quite powerful. With this, we will have sabers that any Jedi would fear, and as we all know, the Taliths have quite the.. Unique crystals themselves. May as well match them, aye?"

The plan was simple. Create the crystals. However, as he would soon learn, this wasn't going to be simple in the slightest.

Two Sith Lords and two Sith Ladies, all drastically different in their appearance, personality, power. One had to wonder if they also considered themselves to be true Sith. Their eyes corrupted by the Dark Side sparked with hatred and passion burning within and left little doubt that the majority of this group had surrendered their body to the promising temptations of power. One had to wonder about their mental state, with mind being the terrifying power’s target right after it conquered the body. Hopefully all of his fellow Sith Lords and Ladies did not lose the ability to reason just yet… their minds and knowledge were needed for the task ahead.

The thought alone almost made the amphibious Sith Lord’s body shiver in discomfort, but Veles’ control over his own shell was too great to allow it to happen. Physically, the Mon Cal displayed nothing but strength, no weakness. And yet, his signature currently hidden under a blanket of concealment revealed a being balanced between light and darkness, a phenomena often misinterpreted as weakness by Jedi and Sith alike. He cared little for what others thought of his beliefs; he was a true Sith, following Zarrah’s wisdom and reaching for the same perfection the Togruta had already achieved. If only…

Both large orbs coloured in peaceful autumn orange calmly blinked when [member="Darth Ferus"] spoke, earning himself the amphibious Sith Lord’s attention and positively rescuing the fishman from thoughts of another place, another time, another Sith Order. The mention of that certain surname positively engraved a frown across his face, one signing he remembered the encounter on Ord Mirit all too well; the scar on his right shin suddenly burned upon the very mention of the Taliths. [member="Darth Venefica"] also surely remembered how she almost squeezed the life out of her opponent! Indeed, the Sith needed to properly address the situation concerning lightsaber crystals – by creating a crystal even more powerful and devastating than the kind possessed by their enemies. Responding with several modest nods, the amphibious assassin offered each of the three another glance with his deep, patient gaze and gently pulled back the hood from his large head and let it fall off and fully revealing the same “hairstyle” [member="Darth Ophidia"] sported.

“Hmm, yes,…,” the Sith assassin said silently, in that typical deep and yet smooth and heavily accented voice of his, “Our power definitely allows us to create a crystal superior to any other. Combine that with the unlimited resources of the One Sith and our success is guaranteed; we only need to think of a new formula. The act of artificially creating an entirely new kind crystal gives us great possibilities, but also presents a great challenge if we want to accomplish something of great magnitude. What other will be needed than the usual minerals with a high carbon concentration?” The question was obviously aimed towards the more experienced alchemists than himself.

The mere mention of the planet of Hoth sent chilling reminders of her time spent on Csillia, where her greatest enemy was the cold. Or it could have been the snow. Maybe it was the ice. Either one was enough to make her grit her teeth in agonizing terror of exposing herself to another cold and harsh planet. She was simply not bred for such a miserable climate, but she was a survivour and despite the future trip to Hoth, she would endure yet again. It was her way, it was the way of all Sith to face the greatest of challenges and conquer them.
"Pfft....little boys and girls such as those twins need fabricated accessories to face the true power of the Darkside," she spat. "I've killed more meaningful opponents who did not rely on technology to mask their lack of talents."
But she was no fool! The galaxy was changing, new generations of both Sith and Jedi alike were cropping up with new and more inventive ways to defeat one another. She trusted wholly in the Force more so than the metal cylinder that dangled against her right leg. The Force, in her experience, never betrays but grants superiority over those that could not feel it, use it, or handle it properly. Still, the concept of such a crystal that could be infused into her new lightsaber was something she would not ignore. As the old village chief back on Dagobah use to say, "Two can play that game."
"Are we sure Hoth has what we need? It would be a waste of time and resources to trek all the way out there only to discover the planet's resources are as useless as mammary glands on a Bantha bull. Alchemy can only produce so much but with the lack of the proper tools....it will not work. And yes....we do need a new formula just as Lord Veles has mentioned."
[member="Darth Veles"] l [member="Darth Ferus"] l [member="Darth Ophidia"]

"The establishment I have built on Hoth has a state of the art geological compression chamber especially attuned for the creation of lightsabre crystals. It is reserved for our use only, until I give further orders. Saves us a lot of peering eyes. If you're worried about the cold, I can assure you that the workspace is certainly warm enough."

A wry smile played over her lips as she remembered the heat from the exposed magma pool that ran through the cave. It was certainly hot enough for one not to freeze. It was true that Hoth was not a carbon-rich planet. However, with their resources, they could easily bring the necessary materials to the forge. It was built to ensure that their work, and similar processes, remained undisturbed and potentially undiscovered. Which was useful, in case they were watched by the many traitors that plagued the bowels of the One Sith.
"Hoth is not rich on carbon substances, but it should not be much trouble to bring sufficient materials with us. We may want to experiment a little on what sources of carbons are most sufficient. Coal? Diamonds?... Flesh? Furthermore, as Darth Veles stated. It may demand a whole new formula."

[member="Darth Venefica"] [member="Darth Ferus"] [member="Darth Veles"]

"As [member="Darth Ophidia"] said, Hoth will prove more than valuable for what we have in mind. Asides, hatred and pain make for better sources of the Dark, no?" [member="Darth Veles"] was indeed correct, and Ferus knew it as well as any of the others here. A crystal of this magnitude was not ordinary, and the raw power they were planning to put into them would only crack and destroy the average stone.

"We have multiple locations we can utilize. For the sake of Alchemy, Fresia and the school none other than [member="Sage Bane"] has made. For raw materials, well. We have a whole galaxy. I suggest for the moment we go study some of the more powerful crystals while gaining some of the carbon we'll need to make our own. Crystals such as the pearls found within the bellies of the Krayt Dragons, among others that I can't seem to remember the name of."

There was a light shrug as he glanced between the three. [member="Darth Venefica"] was probably the only one here with more knowledge on Alchemy than himself, as he tended to specialize in the more metal aspect of it all.

"Anywhere you lot would like to start at?"

“Hmm,” the Mon Calamari silently muttered and kept up his unreadable expression, curling his lips ever so slightly to fight against the smile that threatened to spread over his mouth after [member="Darth Venefica"]’s comment on a very particular duo of opponents relying on technology to cover what they lacked in skill. Of course, the siblings had prepared themselves properly for the fight, but stood little chance against the vastly superior experience and power of both Veles and Venefica. The battle had been won by the Sith duo, but it was clear the Sith had to adapt, come up with their own tools unless they wished to face an opponent of equal skill, better equipment. The very concept of Sith was about adapting for the sake of survival, after all – it was the concept of growth, of evolution, to always be a few steps ahead of their enemies. This fact made the creation of a superior crystal very much a Sith thing to do, as it once again proved the Sith willingness to grow and eliminate another weakness, this time hidden and concealed within their lightsabers.

With a simple nod, the amphibious assassin acknowledged [member="Darth Ophidia"]’s description of the chamber she had created. Truly, the Rattataki’s words painted an impressive picture – at least right until her mention of flesh being used as a possible source of carbons. A wary glance has been shot in the bald woman’s direction, the Mon Cal wasn’t one for massive sacrifices of sentient beings. As their gazes locked, the Mon Cal Sith fixed her with a hard stare, his amber orbs parting ways only after [member="Darth Ferus"]’s voice demanded attention. They certainly had many options – it would be nice to direct their search somewhere more specific.

“It’d be wise to study crystals first to discover some with the desired effect,” the Mon Cal informed his companions as his large head turns to glance over every Sith in the group again, addressing them all without the use of words before continuing.

“We should ask ourselves what we expect as a result. What do we want the crystals to do?” questioned the amphibious Sith Lord gently, “My preferred choice, for example, would be a crystal greatly strengthening its wielder’s focus and connection to the Dark Side, producing a blade powerful enough to cut through the cursed lightsaber resistant materials.”

Oh yes. Darth Veles very much wanted the ability to cut through Mandalorian Beskar as if it were nothing but thin air. To slice off plates of phrik like butter and pierce cortosis without a premature death of his weapon. An unstoppable weapon destined to deliver the Sith message to the entire galaxy.

Her right index finger gently tapped her closed lips as she listened to the others speak, while at the same time had her thought process spin around to determine a reasonable solution. Carbon testing was essentially the priority at this pointe. From experience, certain raw materials and elements were resistant to alchemy and the Force, while many others were not. She, personally, had never tested flesh as an application to use, but it was not outside her realm of possibilities. Prisoners and criminal minds was always her first choice. Those groups, in her eyes, had forfeited their right to exist in this galaxy.
"My personal crystal design will be something unique," she said stopping the tapping on her lips. "Being a Vahla and a Darkside follower....my crystal will be void to anyone that attempts to use it or my lightsaber. As for other properties....trial and error at this pointe."
Her finger returned to it's tapping as she thought about the several different places they could go. Korriban and Dantooine both held caves with crystals in them, but both resources were constantly being plundered and it was no wonder they had not been exhausted. Dagobah had a crystal cave but the crystals themselves could not be trusted to work. But they weren't looking for crystals, they were looking for carbon and other raw materials.
"What about Kesh," she asked. The planet was on the Black Rose's radar and this would be a good time for this group to explore it for materials, while giving her an opportunity to conduct preliminary observations of the planet.
[member="Darth Ophidia"] l [member="Darth Ferus"] l [member="Darth Veles"]

"Superior cutting power, a focus for the Dark Side, attuned to the master."

As she summed up what she had heard the other three lords propose, she gestured to each of them. Herself, she was primarily looking for cutting power, but she had to admit that the idea of a sabre that was useless to all but her was quite attractive. She would need to look into that feature for her own crystal.

"I believe we can make all these qualities appear. Perhaps by making a single large crystal with the rough qualities we desire, then cut it down to finer pieces, which we may attune to each of us if we wish."

Darth Ophidia had never set foot on Kesh, nor truly had she read up on the planet's resources and history. However, she trusted the venerable Darth Venefica to choose a planet with merit for such an important task. She had led Sith to great discoveries before, surely she would once more. Ophidia was temporarily reminded of a sabre she had taken from a Jedi on Belgaroth. Stermt, Lilit Stermt was her name. The blade had not ignited in Ophidia's hands, but when she had taken it apart, there was nothing wrong with the components. Perhaps the crystal was attuned in one way or another, hindering another from using it. Thinking back, it did have an irritating feeling to it.

[member="Darth Veles"], [member="Darth Ferus"], [member="Darth Venefica"]

"A large crystal sounds appropriate. We can pool our wants together, make perfect crystals for each. So, to Kesh we shall go. I assume we all have transportation?" Golden eyes once more trailed over the three. [member="Darth Ophidia"] first, [member="Darth Venefica"] second, and finally, [member="Darth Veles"] . A smile formed in the back of his mind. Slowly he ran a palm over the hilt of his own lightsaber, feeling the energy within. Such a simple blade, soon to be replaced. He ignored the surroundings of the temple, this was just a convenient place they all knew where to meet.

His droid, Droid, was already however punching in the co-ordinates to Kesh. He had kept the channel with it live, just to make take off easier. "Once we get there I assume we'll be studying the crystals, getting a make up of them. Remember, we need hard cyrstals though. They must be able to withstand the power we will put into them."

With all of their opinions and ideas voiced, Avreet nodded as he thought of what’s been said. Increased cutting power certainly belonged among the most desired properties three out of four Sith wished their lightsaber to have. Did this piece of information also mean most Sith found opponents in armour hard to defeat, or just simply unworthy of the time it took to crack their shell? One could not blame the group, the ability to cut through anything with no resistance whatsoever as if slicing nothing but empty air was one of the most practical properties. Especially if it gave one the irresistible option to melt their way through lightsaber-resistant material.

The desire to beat an enemy no matter what costume they wore was very tempting and Veles himself wished to have the advantage of wielding one of the very few weapons in the galaxy capable of cutting through the nearly-indestructible plates of phrik or beskar. Preferably the Vong crab armour as well, yet the amphibious sentient fully realized creating a crystal with a power of that magnitude would be nearly impossible considering anything to come even close to the weapon of his dreams had yet to be made. And to think he wanted to add even more effects, the mysterious and powerful kind that dipped into the dark secrets of the Force, bathing the crystal in its power… the task ahead appeared hard to beat from the start, but mountains were also the highest when their future conqueror stood right below them.

Perhaps it was fate, a destiny to work on this project. Whether the end product came out close enough to his wishes or if it ended in a failure – Avreet did not know, but he took it as a challenge offering him valuable experience if nothing else. More words from the others earned another nod or two from him. The idea of using one large crystal, cutting it into smaller pieces after the will of four Sith Lord did its work certainly increased their chances of success, and Darth Veles was acutely aware he stood no chance at accomplishing what he wanted without the others.

“Very well,” he declared, words leaving his mouth at a surprisingly fast rate, “If there’s nothing else, I will depart to Your Deathbed. Is there anyone who wishes to join me and travel aboard my ship?”

The two orange jewels adorning his big head darted from one Sith to another.

[member="Darth Ferus"] [member="Darth Ophidia"] [member="Darth Venefica"]

"Thank you for the offer Darth Veles, but I have business to attend in my own ship while we travel. To Kesh then."

In truth, she had procured a shipment of Atrisian tea for her own tasting and while she had been here, her droid had been programmed in the art of brewing such teas. Some would say it was a waste of such a developed droid, but she rarely took him into combat in any case. He served better as an excellent pilot and now, brewer of teas. She looked at each of the gathered Sith, a smile starting in the corner of her lip. Unless there were any objections, she bowed her head momentarily in respect, then turned to head out the way she had initially come. Her robes flowed behind her. The patterns of diamonds and triangles on her back swaying gently in a hypnotic motion as she walked.

She wondered what the would find on Kesh, or rather what there was to find. One could call her impatient, but she was quite eager to begin the construction of their crystal. However, she did concede to the fact that they would need to gather intelligence first. What were the strongest crystals in the galaxy? Her mind had no answers. She did not know enough about crystals. Her hand pulled her holocomunicator from a pocket of her robes and with a click of a button she called up her droid.

"Darling, start brewing the new stuff. I require it when I arrive. Also, begin downloading available data on the planet of Kesh and whatever you find on lightsabre crystals."
